May I ask who programmed the offside rule

and if you could score "hand of god" goals? and if you could punch a player with out the ref seing? even the dive option is a bit too much- i want clean and flawless football.

Handballs is something I want improving on PES - often the ball hits defenders on the arm in the box, but because it's unfair to give away penalties for basically a glitch in the player animations - so they should make players able to avoid being hit on the arm, and thus making penalties for handball possible.

And why should there be perfect football? There are so many areas in real football where there is margin for error, and if every decision was perfect, that is thoroughly boring, it is quite interesting and mixes thing up if games can be decided by slightly contentious decisions. For example, a few times it's hard to tell if the ball has crossed the line - but on PES, you know whether it has crossed the line because the AI is always perfect in that respect.

PES should be aiming for the best football simulation, not perfection.

pes wants to be a real life football game, OK. but real football wants to be perfect- did you ever celebrate your teams offside/foul like it was a "real" goal? and did you ever say "it happens" when the other team scores an illegal goal?

Well pes is still a game. A game can never be real life. Don't ex[ect too much. I know pes 09 has some bad points but it has it's good p[oints too and overall, there are more goods than bad's. A game can imitate real life, but it can never be real life. Afterall a game is still made by humans.
The offside rule is accurate to real life, but some things in gameplay are not. That is expected. Since the gameplay's most important thing is AI. The AI can never act like real life humans but pes can do better.

What your saying doesn't add up..A game can imitate real life but it can't be real life..I think the definition of imitation is when you try to replicate something..here's the debate part..what of the real life footbal aspect are you trying to imitate..the essential part of it or just bits and pieces..

In your opinion we should forgive konami for imitating the offside rule with all it's real life mistakes and also for NOT imitating real life LOGICAL player moves and runs...

NOW THERE'S A BRAINTWISTER FOR YOU...:shocking::shocking:

I believe that's some BS personally..either you imitate something 100% or you try to re-produce it..If pes 2009 imiates real life regarding offside it should do it for other aspects as well..if not than they are NOT to be taken seriously...simple as that:no::no:

if i got you right- ytou want pes to replicate the rules- lets take the offside rule- for all of it. so your saying pes needs to add the reffs mistake also? i think- if you can make it perfect, why ruin it?

What does my reaction have to do with this? As a matter of fact, I am usually irritated, but nothing more, by wrong decisions, because they regularly happen.

PES should incorporate it into the gameplay, because it mixes things up, and adds the unpredictability that football is based on.

If you want a perfect replication, or whatever, why not have every tackle successful, so there are no fouls breaking up the play, and every shot bang on target.

Football Manager has recently had controvercial decisions added into the game, and, as it did with the FIFA I am thinking of, improved the game slightly.

No you don't got it right..Shaun7 is saying that the game is fine as it is and that the game can imitate real, life butcan't be real life.
To me an imitation is a replica of another situation. So how can you say it's an imitation when it doesn't imitate real life at all. You can't imitate just half of real life soccer and say that we should take the other half for granted because it can't be real life...that doesn't make any sense.

The game can imitate real life ref flaws and unpredicatle situations but can't imitate real life ways of playing??? Is this a soccergame or a referree decision game:rolleyes:

I'm with you on the fact that if you can make ( imitate ) it perfect why put all the bull shit real life flaws in there if the game can't control the numbers in which they occur or use these to manipulate the outcome

Ýour definition of perfection and mine are very different. To you what you described above is the definition of a very unreallistic game.

My definition of a perfect game is to add all the assets of a soccer match (passing, referree calls; keeper saves; shooting etc etc) minus the BLATANT AI cheating. I'm ALL for controversial decisions but not when they DECIDE 10 out of 40 something games a season. Meaning the AI is using these controversial decisions ONE WAY and that's to the AI's benefit which in itself is not a IMITATION OF REAL LIFE.
Seldom is it used to the PLAYERS advantage and to be honest it spoils the fun.

It seems like the AI CAN'T COMPETE WITH A REAL LIFE PLAYER UNLESS IT MANIPULATES ALL THESE CONTROVERSIAL DECISIONS TO IT'S BENEFIT...which means we have been playing a half ass game all these years..

Except that I haven't said that all that the addition of dubious decisions should be to serve to favour the Computer. I think it would be great, if, for example, every 1 in 20 marginal offside decisions are called wrongly, no matter whether for the human or the computer. (Obviously not an example formula, where the 20th is a wrong decision; more of a 0.05 chance of a wrong decision.)

You didn't understand me. I said that a game can imitate real life but it can't be like real life because still, it's JUST A GAME.
Now the ofside rule imitates real lif too. REFS ARE VERY COMMON TO MAKE A MISTAKE, SO IS THE LINESMEN.
An imitation is something that you try to get as close as possible to the realk thing, not be the real thing. Now pes is getting closer and closer to be like real life. But still GAMES CAN NEVER BE REAL LIFE.
Afterall pes is a game.

Totally agree with you about the imitation..but..what I'm saying is if it imitates referrees mistakes in real life..how come :

1. it limits it's imitations only to dodgy ref decisions. Why didn't it imitate the rest of the game to real life too..you can't argue with me that the way your teammates defend sometimes isn't no where near professional..the stupid decesions made regarding passing and goal spilling is nowhere near an imitation of any real life situation...

2. How come the mistake only go one way..than it should benefit both parties and not 90 % AI and 10% real life player
