MLO - ranking - handicap - scripting

Hmmm, seems to me that once i reach a certain amount of ranking points, my luck changes and i go on a losing streak against teams that have less RP than me.

It feels as if my players will not react, i can't select the correct player, passing is horrid, their GK plays like Shilton on steroids, my defenders stand and watch.

after a few losses, my ranking points drop and suddenly i start to get a good luck factor again.

I mean come on, out of all those players in div 5 surely one of them is good enough to be on like 800 ranking points? Seems like a handicap system is in place here. Any divisions #1 ranked team very rarely has more than 600 points.:unsure:

it does give me this feeling that the bigger the difference between me and my opponent's rating, the more retarded the goals i concede, and the amount of sitters missed increases

I agree largely, basically this is my 3rd week in D2, on the last two mondays I have been in promotion spots only to see them slip away in minutes.

I had something like 553 last week, and the cut off point was 530, so I thought meh it will be ok to play one game on Monday. I end up losing against some D4 guy with a world class 11, 1-0 with his goal being an utter joke. Bearing in mind I was on a 8 game winning streak before (Hence my 553 RP)
For the result I lost around 18 points, so I had to play again to get back in promotion which I thought was lame.

I draw a D5 guy, I thought it would be a walk in the park, I dominate for 90 minutes and only manage 1 goal, you guessed it... they scored in the last 2 minutes from a deflected rebound. He took another 15 odd points...
I spend the rest of my night going up and down around the 530 mark, eventually managing to get 531, only to find the cut off point had gone up. I play some other rubbish team D5/D4 and a drew again, I had about 4 players on purple and 2-3 on blue... I admitted defeat after that.

This week however Im not making the same mistake, I got 547 on the board sinse Friday and Im getting promoted tonight, I have hated not playing today as I love it. But if I lose or draw... my rank will plumit, and it will be an uphill struggle to save myself.

I dont think theres a script at play here just two rather obvious things.

1) The points differences between different divisions are minimal meaning that people often end up playing others from 2 or 3 divisions above or below them, when I was playing MLO I was in D4 and regularly played people in D2 or 3 on very similar points to myself which seemed strange. Problem was if I won I gained the usual pitiful amount and they lost tons, if they won they gained almost nothing and I lost tons. Basically the whole way the match up points lost/gained system works is, imo, utterly broken.

2) As eluded to above the points system is broken, it can take 6 or 7 wins to gain as little as 20 or 30 points yet you can lose all those in just 1 or 2 matches, this is compounded by the silly system which allows people in D5 to have teams of uber players so eventually they will pick up the odd win here and there against decent players in higher divisions.

What should happen is there should be set and static win/loss/draw points based on your division comparative to your opponent and then adjusted by your relative team strength. So a D5 player with players like Etoo and Messi would gain no points for beating a D3 player with a team of defaults (for example)

Also there should a system which puts a limit on team value dependent on your division, so there is an actual incentive to win or draw consistently and not end up in D5, currently it really doesnt make any difference the best way to earn cash is to enter ML open and play as many games as possible, even if you lose them all you earn nearly 500k per competition, playing quick matches for the same amount of time even if you win youd gain 120k probably (tops)

In short while its a great idea the MLO whoever thought of the ranking, points and team buying mechanics was clearly smoking crack that day.

I find the player reactions are endemic of the game as a whole. Earlier I played someone and I wasn't 'allowed' to select two players near the ball, instead they remained CPU controlled and ran AWAY from the ball. It happened to someone I was playing against the other night as well, I was able to pick up a loose pass that I really shouldn't have. I'm all for challenging but thats just annoying.

I know!!! If you have bad handicap a 'through ball' will kill you!!!

I notice i run my player to the ball and they simply run over it!!!

My other pet hate is when a pass hits the heels of a player when receiving a pass. Its laughably annoying.

yep - and notice how some games (usually when your team is far better than your opponents) your players HAVE to have a touch , normally a bad one at that!!!

seriously eh..yesterday i had nesta who probably is the best cb in terms of intercepting passes, just stood still three times when the ball went right past him, of course my opponent then scores with all three of his chances against casillas with shots stein probably could have saved playing in net. i mean yeah, make it challenging, but at least let me stop it when i'm doing stuff right..

If there is scripting in single player, why can't there be scripting in MLO?

Just yesterday, I ran by the keeper and had an open goal to tie the game late against a rubbish d5 player. Dempsey takes the soft touch (tapped shoot) and I aimed for back post. What happens you ask? Ball flies and hits the near post then immediately flies directly to the out of position and on the ground keeper. I've never missed a shot like that with dempsey, and it wasn't even that tight of an angle, I had probably a good 40 degrees.

I also lost two games in stoppage time to d5 players from fluke headers. Anyone notice that if someone maintains possession in the opponents final 3rd, the game will never ever end? You could have 1 minute added time, and the game go on for 10+ minutes! I suppose it's my fault though for not dispossessing them, but it's stupid when I full power long pass a clearance and it only goes 15 yards.....

I have tested this added time, I was losing a game and it was stoppage time, so everytime I got the ball I cleared it for a corner, every single time. 2 minute added turned into about 20 minutes...I gave him 10 TEN corners in a row until I finally cleared to end the game. I know in real life they extend time a bit in someone is in attacking position, but not to this extent.

I agree with this, today has been the worst day of mlo for me.
I have lost and drawn non stop my ranking has gone from 518 to 408 its an utter joke.
I have seen streamers stats are you telling me if cacau (german forward) has a headstart Streamer can catch up? bollocks

theres definitely some scripting its silly to me why have it at all.
I might as well win some games and hang up my boots!

I see what you all mean here, I went on a 15 game unbeaten streak and was in promotion to get into D1 and then all of a sudden I'm playing D5 teams and the likes of Ruskin is getting to the ball ahead of ronaldo and my players run away from the ball, or it changes player as I press slide tackle to let the through on goal :/ plus all of a sudden ivarov is a ninja in goal and the likes of castolo are banging 30 yarders or scoring deflected goals!! Ended up just above relegation losing 15-20 points a game :/
Also some of the penalty decisions I'm general are pathetic, and the fact that people take you out every time you go forward or through on goal and only get yellows :/
Also I find I press to shoot or pass first time and they don't bother?! Gave away goals and missed opportunities this way because they haven't done what I've told them :/

Ah I was about to start a thread to call a particular online user out, who didn't play any football just fouled throughout the whole game every time I went to attack and he only recieved mostly yellow cards for deliberate tackles from behind. In the end it was a draw and he got one man sent off and comitted over 20 fouls.

That match would have got me to a promotion spot to div1.

Before that I was playing another person in the same div2 as me and was beating him 2-0 and then all of a sudden I get ''lost connection'' message. Then I go to play another quick match and meet the same guy again and before kick off I ask him why he cut off, but says it wasn't him so i give him the benefit of the doubt. So I score and take the lead in this new match and after half time the same fucking thing happens, I don't get any points or any matches for two games that would have put me through to a promotional spot because of the lost connection shit

Lastly I was playing some guy in div2 with most of the master league default player and van bengan or whatever his name is, hunting down every ball as if he was essian ,ettori was playing through balls and running up and down the pitch causing me problems as if he was xavi. I couldnt believe it, I
