Forward-slash complaints about PES09 xD
I play PES09 and I think it's fun, no doubt about that, editing mode is awesome, and I feel they don't have to add anything new, just improve upon some of the flaws that were clearly visible in PES09, and I feel that's a lot to improve upon.
To start off, I have alist of the things that I feel shouldn't be changed too much:
Now, I have just recently played PES09, so the stuff that sucks is fresh in my memory, I feel they need to fix these issues as they make the experience suck.
Free-kicks, you shoot at goal from a free-kick, it hits off the wall and comes back to you, rebound it? Well, you can't, as the guy who took the free-kick is just standing there for some reason, still in animation. By the time you realise what's happening, the opponents have the ball and are on the counter-attack.
Sliding-tackle-switching-player-compensation (or something >.>), don't you hate it when the opponent is about to pass the ball or cross it, and you slide in to block it, but it switches to a different player so he slides in instead? I've found that this can only be solved by manual player switching enabled (or being a single team member), which brings me to the next problem...
The manual player switching sucks. It hardly gets you who you want when you need them, and more often than not, it switches between 3 players a few times before it gets to the one you do want, and by that time it's pointless using that player anymore.
Your player stopping when a defender runs the ball off you. I hate it. No-one in real life does this, even when muscled off the ball, I haven't seen anyone with a chance of getting the ball back just stop where they are. This also goes for players chasing the ball, sometimes they just stop. I also have a problem with players running onto a ball ('locked' on, if you will), and trying to cross the ball but then witness them do a sliding tackle... -.- It's even worse when no-one is around, common sense would dictate the ball is yours, so it's frustrating for this to happen when you have a box filled with attackers, and you miss a perfect chance to score because the AI lacks any common sense.
Speaking of AI, it seems to hate giving you the right player for a shot when you cross the ball in, I often find the AI switching to the smallest player on my team, who isn't near the target ball, and then I have my star striker running onto the ball. The little guy misses it, as you'd guess, and then the guy running in controls it and runs it out or the keeper makes an easy save. I've noticed that the defenders have an 'auto-clear' mechanism when attackers are around, why not an auto-shoot for when you can hardly react in time?
That brings me onto the auto-clearance and the auto-pass, it often chooses the most inappropriate times to do it. I've had defenders control a stray cross and then clear it out for a throw-in in a dangerous area (it's even more angering when you concede after this, btw), there was no-one in the box and the cross wasn't powerful. The same goes for the occasional auto-pass, I often witness a player pass it to a marked man. Fail.
And lastly, side-backs that double as centre-backs. I don't think I need to explain this one.
Well, that's my complaints for PES09, which doubles up as a lit of wants for PES10. Pretty good for my first thread, complaining about a game in which this website it based on... But seriously, as much as I hate FIFA, I can actually tolerate it this time, and play a good few games on it without wanting to turn it off. Unless Konami make the above changes (and a lot more that others have came up with), FIFA will probably take the leading spot in football games, which is a shame because their unique selling point is mainly visuals.
If you got this far, thanks for reading
P.S. I love PES09, so this isn't a complaint thread, just something I feel would make PES10 much better if they fixed this stuff.

- Edit mode (I will improve upon this with something I feel would make it kick extra ass)
- Training mode (I feel they should include a challenge mode)
- The league and cup modes seem fine for me
- I think Master League should be tweaked slightly to include more tiers to each division
