Negotiations nigh on impossible on regular mode

Just did the double in my first season with United, narrowly edging out Chelsea - had a bundle of cash to spend, and NOBODY at all wanted to come to my club, the champions of England? WTF?! The best I could get was Larsson, so I changed the ML level temporarily to Very Easy and finally I could at least bid for players like Torres

I know it shouldnt be too easy to get a top player, but to have a bit 4 times their value turned down is ridiculous

thats exactly my point, almost every player who is already at a club, is 0 stars, even the shit ones - thats not realistic I've just done the double!

It also depends on how long the player has left on his contract. The longer he has left for the contract to end, the more difficult it is to sign him.

I have got my Ml on Top player and Very hard. Putting it on Regular is a joke. It means that not only do players come to you easier, but their stamina in games does not diminish as rapidly as when u are on very hard.

I have done about 7 seasons and i have all the players i want (all done on highest levels at all times)

I dont like buying the top players but on VERY HARD TRANSFERS, i got; Saviola, snieder, odonkor, martin pertov, SWP, hunterlaar, and others. It is too easy to play on regular!

I am playing WE9 still since I am waiting for the release of WE10 here in the states but I decided to start a brand new master league with the default ML team (Macco, Castolo, Ruskin etc). I am currently in the 3rd season and still am at 2nd division (sad I know). The first season I just didn't care I just wanted to negotiate some new contracts, 2nd season I needed to win the last game so I could advance to division 1 but I tied with Hannover 96 and moved into 3rd place >.<. Anyways, this season seems to be the one I will move into 1st division, though it has been a real bitch to get any decent players over. I tried to get Rosales(Ajax), Van Persie, Carini, R.Oliveira, Crouch so many times but they wouldn't budge. I had to settle with negotiating contracts with Unaffiliated players which is where I got Charisteas, Kranjcar, Yohann Pele, Tudor, Frei, and Lennon. I did however manage to transfer over Carlos Salcido and Tressor Moreno.

I try to make it more realistic and only go for players in the search "Willing to negotiate" (doesnt say that exactly but I cant remember the exact words)

To be fair, why would Van Persie go from division 1 to Div2. Would he go from Arsenal to Crystal Palace. I dont think so. You gotta be realistic when signing ppl. All my signings were good players already in Div2 Pagis was top scorer for someone, so i got him) and the others i bought on a free or look on the willingness to negotiate thing. U cant go for the best players while in Div2!

I'd love to do that, but as I said its only players who have no teams, and really crap players who wouldnt get in my side - it cant be realistic for a team that has just won the league and cup, to not be able to draw even a player like Robbie Keane?

I reduce the ML difficulty temporarily to make some signings, then jack it back up again.

Well during the 3rd season Van Persie hadn't played one single game for Arsenal. I know this because his stats where exactly the same. Now that I am in division 1, he still has an avg rating of 0.0. Wasted talent right there.

Just get to mid season, and replay the week a couple of times to see whether higher bid will work - I don't know whether that could be called cheating but I just call it 'testing the waters'. I got David Villa in my second season with Liverpool that way - at a reasonable price too. I reckon that's the best system to use until Konami introduce a function detailing where your transfer bid went wrong

Your first season! Does that mean that you still dont have a very high rating. It takes times to build up your teams rating. And only then do players want to join you.

I generally dont buy players from other teams, especially in the first few seasons. I did manage to capture Messi on a free whilst in D2 on top player though.

Am also playing on regular mode - found it quite hard to get players, am in 1st season in Div 1 and was 13th at mid-season break with not huge amounts of cash but got Kanu, and N'Guemo who are both decent players from reserves of other Div 1 sides.
