Never jump ship plainly going by the demo

I can't understand how people decide after playing the demo that straight away fifa is the game for them this year. Last year the PES 2009 demo was a shambles and pretty much impossible to play with enjoyment. But when the full game came out it was completely different and I thought it was brilliant. I didn't like the 2010 demo at first but after a few matches you get the hang of it and can see that it will be a great full game. Besides, why buy fifa 10 in a couple of weeks then see that pes 2010 has improved hugely like before and therefore waste £30-40?

the demo wasnt that bad last year. there is no way the game can change enough from now until release to be considerably different to the demo. not only that, what they hell are these reviewers playing!

If you should never abandon a game based on a demo, then by the same argument you should neither buy a game based on a demo. Frankly, it's a silly argument.

The purpose of a demo is to give people a taste of the full game, and if that taste is not to their liking then it's either not their type of game, or it's the fault of the developer for releasing an old code as a demo. If Konami cannot understand that then I fear for more than just their ability to create a great football game for the current generation of consoles.

The demo for 2009 was very close to the finished article.

I really hope PES 2010 is the ultimate failure for Konami so they actually bounce back with a decent game next year rather than the same shite every year with new kits and transfers.

Do you really think they will? Everyone keeps hoping the same and it doesn't look as though they're learning anything. Whether they will be helped by dropping PS2 development due to having a smaller team than the FIFA one (at a guess), I don't know.

The market could do with a third game to be honest.

Naive as it may sound mate I genuinely thought after the mess that was PES6 on Xbox 360 they would release 'THE' game the following year, then I thought it again, and again after further let downs, I think despite only playing the demo, PES 2010 will be another let down but in Konami's defence as we've seen on this forum alone over the last 24 hours, they have a lot of support from people happy to part with their cash so why would they go the extra mile (or 20) to improve what to them is a game which sells copies every year to it's die hard fans.

I don't think they will bother trying to make this great football sim anymore but I'd be delighted if they proved me wrong. It does, however look like that won't be for at least another year.

A third game does sound good, I'd love that to happen.

I thought sony were making a "next-gen" This Is Football game?

That had it's flaws, lots of them, but I used to love playing that game, when it introduced diving in console gaming, I loved trying to time the dives correctly and inevetably failing and getting booked, also penalised for handballs too. Had the makings of an excellent football game.

The game won't change much from the demo but as I said:

Negatives are
defense positioning
AI sometimes go arcade like (but a much better simulation than 09 already)
Response times are ruining the game for sure (major concern). I hope it is truly fixed in the latest build. I think it is. I believe some problems we have been having is because of response times which ruins: passing, dribbling, and effective team play.
Some minor fixes makes the difference.

I think the demo is OK on top player, I am not sure what everybody was expecting, its not perfect, but no game will be in the near future; the defensive AI is miles better, not convinced by the attacking side, still doesn't seem to be any real runs from the forward players however there will be a few minor changes before release plus IMO PES is and has always been best played against another person, so the onlince will be the real test for me.

isnt that the point of a demo? to be a demonstration of the game so we can make up our minds? for the first time since 96 im having doubts if its worth to buy it. like someone else said.. what the hell are the reviewers playing?
