you both think it's going to be that easy to do!! you think you'll sprint alone have all the time you need to move the other teammate without any pressure!

It's going to be very hard to do, picture it. you're moving your player with pressure form opponent, have to find that other teammate to assist, move him behind the defense, watch your player doesn't loose the ball, keep an eye on the other teammate for passing, etc....

Even if you managed to get the ball to the other teammate with simple cursor change i can still chase you and apply pressure.

I say wait until you do it yourself then judge.

i just hope next year they implement something similar for defence

defence has been all about controlling 1 player and running around, imagine how challenging it would be to control multiple defenders manually! holding off the attack, blocking his options, whilst man marking his striker who making a run or maybe play him offside.

this kind of idea needs to be put into defending so you have more control over more players

constantly pressing L1 to find the right defender is annoying

The videos state teammate assisted and manual control. It says nothing about it being solely offensive control. I would expect assisted control on defense as well.

im not sure what ur asking

what i meant was, that in fifa whilst defending, you aim the right stick to pick what defender you want to be instead of tapping L1 and hoping it finds the right guy

the computer probably just chooses a player in the best position, don't know you can cycle through them like the off the ball controls

Because it's new for PES 2012, it's not in PES 2011.

this indicates that to select a player u have to push in r3 and aim at him, then just aim to where you want him to run

Will we at least wait about the defence? As I already said, these are just show offs and may just be on low difficulty. If they truly made the AI that good, then the defence won't suck. In my opinion, we should wait for the demo and see about the defence.

^That wasn't my point. My point was that these videos weren't meant to show the defence and goalers as it was clearly on lower difficulties. It was meant to show a new feature, so we cannot go and comment about the defence and GK's being bad, as the focus of the trailer wasnt that, it was about the new feature.

When we get a proper match, then we can comment on everything.

This confused me also, in the video about the manual control it seemed to me to indicate that assisted works slightly differently from how the assisted video explained it.

It almost seemed to say that you as the LB (in your example) would hold R3 and push the right stick up twice to get to RCB. The LCB wouldn't make the forward run though because to get him to do that you would similarly hold R3 and push the right stick up once but then de-press R3 and push the right stick to the left. (so pressed R3 and right stick movement lets you choose the player, de-pressed R3 and right stick movement lets you choose the players movement)

As you say that's not how it seems to be described in the assisted video. (the way I understand it, the difference between assisted and manual is that after pushing left with the LCB to start his assisted forward run - in my above example of making the LCB run forward - any subsequent movements of the right stick will put you under manual control of the LCB....I'm probably wrong though! )

Again we won't know until we try, seems like i'm coming back to PES12 this year.

I have just listened to part of the WENB podcast and it definitely seems that the LCB would only make a run if you de-pressed R3 when you have him selected.

I haven't yet worked out how to get the man to make an assisted as opposed to a manual run yet though (I haven't listened to it all yet, but early on it they seem to say you do the same thing for assisted and manual which is confusing)

The off ball player control looks very cool but what worries me is the defense, is the defense sophisticated enough and or do you have enough control of your defenders to counter and defend vs the new off ball control system?? I m worried that we will have scorelines of 7-5 or 8-4 because of this new offensive freedom.

Interested to see how this works, if it works well in tandem with manual passing the options for build up play should be immense. I would rather the stats dictated player movement but this looks fairly innovative I just hope its not a half arsed job.

I loved getting my tactics right and building a team in pes 2011, managed to get to a stage where player movement was very realistic I hope this isn't lost in pes 2012, then again I have the option not to use it.

To be honest I just hope unassisted cursor switch is sorted, and I'll repeat this for the 5th fucking time this year, no more automatic AI interventions.
