Online modes

this is one of the best ideas for an online mode i have seen on here , originaly posted by Policanac.

"hi,
i would prefer 2 Online playing modes

- REALISTIC mode with the normal Stats of the player (like it is now) for example MESSI running like hell with the ball
Here you can compete with the other online players, the problem here that there is only choosen 4 clubs ; BARCA; MUTD; INTER .....

- and the OLDSCHOOL mode:
my idea is to set the players to equals stats. doesnt matter which team. Here you can only win if youre god at PLAYING, and you can choose your favourite team. Then you can for example win with DINAMO ZAGREB.
no more BARCA vs. BARCA online!!

what you would say ?"

what a good idea, i would love to play as westham on line but as most people pick barca or man utd its pointless as the odds are against you from the start. im sure that 99% of people playing online dont actually support either team and would love to play as the team they support. there must be a way of balancing the odds to get a better online game where the best player wins rather than the team with better stats and faster players.

aswell as this i would love to play with my master league team online as this would give you a greater incentive to progress through the master league and actually build a squad to suit your style of play.

thanks for reading.;)

I think the primary focus for Konami at the moment would be to actually create a solid online experience. No lag is the main concern and undoubtedly has been since PES6. PES6 was the pinnacle of the PES online experience with minimal lag. Since then though, the last two PES installments have been poor online to be honest. Before trying to include more online modes, I advise you (Konami team) strongly to create a lag-free online experience for PES2010. Online gaming is not only the future, but it is the present, and without a solid online experience, the new PES game won't stand much chance in the market to be honest unfortunately.

The pathetic truth is that although 99% of the people don't supports these teams, 99% of people go these teams. I just see them as people who don't really follow football. They don't have the balls to go their respective teams or to go a 'lower' team. Even in non-ranked matches I will player Barca or Man u 9/10 times. Whats the point? Barca are good, not these idiots who go them. All they need to do is run rings around my defense with eto'o and press shoot, easy as that. No skills required at all.

Whereas If I am Copenhagen I will have to pass my way past Puyol, Vidic, etc to create good chances by playing good football. But after all this hard work they will run straight from centre with Eto'o or Messi and score. What's the point in playing?

Since PES 2008 I have never gone Barca, Man U, Inter, etc. It takes the fun away from the game. I much prefer beating Barcelona with Heerenveen than having a boring Barca v Barca. I would love to continue beating these morons but the sad fact is that it gets far too frustrating getting 4 points for winning a game then when I've reached 700+ points I then lose 20+ points to a 400 rated Barca 'fan' from France with a bad connection.

For two seasons now I have been suggesting putting a limit on the times you can go each team. This would make people work harder for their rating if they know they can't just go Barcelona every single game.

It's also going to be funny/ironic to see these Barcelona 'fans' switching to Real Madrid next season.

All Konami would need to do is have a tier system where the top tier is where players go to play as top teams like Barca then a tier with mid table teams like valencia, Roma, Villa, Spurs ect then a lower tier with the bottom half teams. They could then have a tier so you can play against anyone to satisfy the good players playing as low teams who want to hammer the Barca boys. Seems this would be easy to incorporate for Konami and give people a place to go to play against evenly matched teams.

One thing to sort out most of the lag is to make sure Spanish/French/Italians aren't allowed into UK servers. I'm sick of going into English servers and getting stuck with people from abroad in Quick Match. There should be a seperate server for people who want to play internationally. I for one don't.

The option to quit a match before it starts should be included also without having to restart the console. Again due to getting paired with bad connections from abroad in Quick Match im unable to decline and have to either restart or play a terrible laggy match and forfeit my points.

I totally agree with you Cg1206 (oddly i was born on 12 june lol)

I never use the top teams, although in real life i support barca lol

I always use Australia which is where i live, but it kind of sucks when 99% of the time i am versing Barca or Spain or Liverpool.

All these stupid people just use one player and run down the flank and then cut in..omg how lame and boring are those goals...yet they dont get sick of it?> its like their only way to score a goal.

i love to pass it around and creating gaps in the defence and use minimal running, seems like no one playing multiplayer does that..its horrible!

And i'm playin on the WII where you can actually have some playmaking going on..people still just run with one player..

what about using your master league team? surely they can put that in, i dont bother with the master league really , i mostly play 2 player but if i could use my ML team online im pretty sure i would invest some time in building a squad.

This is an excellent idea, I think. It would certainly sort out the problem of always playing against Barca or Man Utd. My only concern would be how you would decide which teams to put into the top tier, which ones went into the middle tier and which ones into the lower tier. If that can be solved, then I think that could turn out to be an excellent innovation, as I have already said.

thx wilmo

primary : LAGFREE gaming
secundary: maybe my idea
*i really think my idea would more poeple play then the normal mode. Why i cant be at the top of the onlinetable with (for example) Dinamo Zagreb if iam an excellent Pro player. Every football fan has his own team and they will compete with them. Only possible with equal Stats. but you have tactic´s and your fingers :D to go for win.
- a little problem is not all teams are licensed, and with edited teams you cant go online

@steve
the problem with tier the teams is that konami have to decide at the production date which team is good an which is not so good. But every league has his unpredictable upcoming teams every new season (maybe of good transfers or sheiks investing :realmad:) and in the REAL midseason some teams are on top of the tables and in the online mode you have to play against other lower teams.

there would be no need to tier the sides if you had an option to equal the stats. that way you we could all play as our favourite teams and not get stressed playing against "barca boys".

P.S this forum needs to be tidied up. there is no need for so many threads,
i bet konami will find it more useful if there threads with more general titles e.g: online, edit mode, music, game play...etc

the forum is full of 1 post threads.

The absolute solution to top team abusers

Firstly, there is a post where the tidied up notes are. It is on the very top of the list called ideas compilation post. Click here.

Secondly, here is an excerpt of my post on the above thread relating to this thread. I believe the solution outlined below is superior to a tier system. A tier system will introduce new barca's and man u's (the best teams in tier 2 and 3 etc.) and people will again end up using a handful of teams.

I hope to read your comments. To read my full post with other points I have suggested please click here. Cheers.

[PES requires..]A new ranking system, based on the ELO rating used in professional chess (please look up in wikipedia). The only modification required to the existing chess ELO system would be to consider the strength of the teams played with in addition to the rating of the two players.
I feel the need to clarify what this will really mean to you. Lets say your rating is 400 and your opponents is 900. You play with Besiktas against Barcelona. If you win you get about 30 points, if you draw you get 5 points, if you lose you lose only 1 point. On the other hand, the barcelona player with 900 rating will get 1 point if he wins, lose 5 points if a draw, and lose 30 points if he loses (against you with your 400 rating and lesser team).

This means that if the top ranked players want to increase their rating, they will either have to play even better or similarly rated opponents or choose weaker teams against lesser rated opponents. This will finally bring justice to the rating system and also encourage people to play with teams other than Man U and Barca. It will also reward players who refuse to play with only top teams for the sake of rating.

Note: The strength of a team could simply be measured by the area of the pentagon shown when choosing teams (the pentagon based on the attack, defence, speed, teamwork and technique of the team). This way, it would be dynamic and also change in the future with transfers that make the team stronger or weaker.

also a good idea KUBI, but if iam not interested in my rating, but playing with my team ?
No chance to win against "bad" players with barcelona, it doesnt matter if the opponenent take only one point or something else.

Wouldnt make me happy

Firstly, based on the above quote, I thought you were interested in ratings.

Secondly, one could argue that if all the stats of all teams were set to equal, it would not be their team anymore. Eg, the Czech Repuplic team would not be the same if Jan Koller was on the same height with everyone else. I believe every team has a distinct flavour, and the beauty of football is to see these flavours react with each other.

Thirdly, could you please clarify how exactly the stats should be set equal? Will every player be 180cm tall, have a shot accuracy of 75 and speed of 75 etc.? Or will the players in the team be different(eg strikers with 80 attack rating and 40 defence and vice versa), but every team will have the same players (with different names, but same stats)?

I think this summarises my frustration with Online for the last 2 years. I definately agree that something needs to be done about everyone playing with these 4 teams.... looking at the online ranking and there is very little variation in teams used. I would love to play against other teams and personally I always try and play against teams with other lower ranked teams so I am not just exploiting the problems with online.
Now, I feel that perhaps sorting out the lag and player speeds would go a long way to leveling the playing field. If it wasn't just a case of being able to run through you or dribble round you I would feel that you could actually impose yourself and your playing style would show.

I agree with this as leveling out all the stats would take away what makes a team good or not. Every team has strengths and weeknesses and taking them out would in my opinion leave the game feeling hollow and worthless. In that you are having unreal teams producing unrealistic results!

do you not think it would be good to play with your team and players no matter how low their stats are and know that the odds are equal and that it is the best player wins? i think it is a good option to have .

I understand the point you are trying to make, however, I am looking at it from this perspective:

If I choose Galatasaray, my team, and my opponent chooses team X and I win, I will feel good only because I know I have beaten an opponent on equal grounds, fair and square. I was the superior player, ok.

I ask myself now what was the point in choosing Galatasaray if it makes no difference had I chosen team Y? Let me remind you again, the reason I am feeling good has nothing to do with me winning with Galatasaray, as the team I have chosen to play with has had no impact on the result. I am feeling good because I have proven empirically that given the same team, I was better than my opponent.

Therefore, if I want to feel good when winning with Galatasaray, I have to accept the team the way it is, even if it means I have to struggle against some teams. Only then will I feel satisfied to have played with my team.

I assume you support a team too, and the whole point of this thread is to see your team's name next to victory results, i.e. glorify and pay tribute to your team. To me, the victor in the case of equal teams is just you, not your team. And this contradicts the initial intention of glorifying your team.

I will get no extra joy if I choose Galatasaray knowing that it actually is not Galatasaray.

However, if I want to know who the better player is and start with equal odds, I can choose the same team as my opponent or ask him/her to choose mine. Once again, in this scenario, the team chosen becomes redundant in the equation.

Cheers

PS. A practical solution to the "barca vs barca" problem is to limit the teams available, once the host player has chosen a team, to teams only similar in strength. (where the strength of a team is based on the area of the pentagon described in my previous post)

okay KUBI , Jan Koller is a problem
maybe they can make an average of the teams in height.
(europ. average of men height 1,85 mtr)

i understand your reasons, but i would get extra joy to win with my team with my players "name".

The idea with

is also a good idea to equal the chances

I do not think much of it. I tried it once in 2008 and it felt like a completely different team as the player's abilities were set to default values, and they had increased vastly over the years.
