i dont remeber that but they also had the special hairstyles like the astronaught and the horses head. as soon as i unlocked the horses head i would immediately change van nistelrooys hairstyle to that. give him a more authentic look haha

:faceplm: Yeah. Bad memory.

Haha, oh yes. And turn the ref into a dog (or was that something else lol).

The dogs heads were special "hairstyles" that could be unlocked.

God they were amazing... the penguins were the only ones that were good I thought... plus you could have a full match of Red penguins vs Black penguins. I still have fond memories of John Barnes storming down the wing as a penguin on PES6...

Ha Ha, yes you could change the ref into a dog, way back when it was still a 2D game titled International Superstar Soccer, on the SNES and later a slightly improved version on PS1, just before it went 3D :)

I think you had to do a combination of the joypad buttons to turn the ref into a little brown dog :)

Soz dude.

Used to be all i played back then. It was the first home console footy game ( FIFA with it's 'orrible isometric 3D was just awful on the MegaDrive and others ) that truly made playing footy on a computer exciting. Before that there was Kick Off 2 and Sensible Soccer, but they were too far away from the action to make it immersive ( as great as they both were ).

I had ISS on the SNES first, then got it on PS1, if i remember correctly it came out like 1 month before the first full 3D version of ISS came out(?). The PS1 version had some great and unintentionally funny commentary ( that hasn't really improved since, lol ) and possibly some extras that the SNES version didn't have, but it was so long ago now i can't remember.
The only other old school, footy game i wanted but never got was Football Kingdom, which had animation that easily betters even PES 09, but i recall it being really hard to get hold of here in the UK. I think it flopped because we were all addicted to ISS/Pro Evo by then...

On a similar note.... Does anyone know of a website that catalogues EVERY football game, be it on field action or manager simulators ect, that has ever been released on either home computers, consoles, PCs and Arcade Boards ? There are so many that i played on the C64, Speccy, Amiga, Megadrive ect.... that'd be great to look up again, even if just to see how awful they were! ( Gazza's Super Soccer springs to mind...a flip screen pitch! what were they thinking !? )

Thanks. I'd wiped that from my memory many years ago. Got bought it & ended up binning it as there was nowhere around to trade stuff in back then. Absolute gash.

Here you go, the only way to fight that memory is to face it head on.

As the game's cover says.... " Don't forget, buy Gazza's Super Soccer. It's the No.1 computer game! "
