* The crowd glitch is a step back from PES 4. No argument there surely?
It's not a glitch - they removed crowd to eliminate slowdown.
* The now proclamied weather glitch is a massive set back from PES 4. It has been now confirmed (on another site by Konami that they forgot to include the various weather conditions for ML). Ever noticed the weather is always fine in ML? ... Well that's why, and I don't reckon thats good enough. In PES 4 I was a much worse player in the rain, could never string fluid passes together and my speed was nullified, which in turn would make me select a much different run on squad and formation. Now that's been taken away from me (and everyone else) in PES 5. NOT happy! Again you can't argue with that can you?
Agree with that one. You have to play a totally different game in the rain, and that element (har har) has now gone.
* The Attacking AI is pretty poor. Not enough goals from the COM in general play. The COM's defense and midfield build up are superb, but the attack and finishing is woeful. Not enough chances and definitely not clinical enough when they finally do break you down. And when I (the USER) have the ball, forwards are meant to run, and create space and chances. You can have Owen and Ronaldo up front and there's not much difference (off the ball I'm talking) then having Harewood and Aliadiere ... The forwards are stagnant and simply put; they do too much ball watching. I understand some people will agree and others disagree with that one.
I think it's better in some ways and worse in some ways than old games. The computer is infinitely better at the back than upfront, which is pretty ridiculous in itself. However, I do think there's more variety in the scoring and it's generally not as easy as before. Also, my players seem to make the runs I want...what's difficult is when they defend so deep it's impossible to cut through the middle.
* Passing and lobbed thru balls and lobbed balls should be about 30-40% more accurate than the current system. Too many go out or are easy fodder for the keeper. There should be more open spaces to break thru in, by players (forwards?) taking advantage of their pace and hitting holes. Again it falls back onto the attacking AI.
Agree to an extent - high passes are still fairly useless. I don't agree with the pace criticism some people have made! I think it makes the world of difference if you have a player with 85 top speed running against one with 75...only difference is now you can't just fly past defenders, becuase they'll stick a foot in or drag you back.
* General ML options and running. The management side of things hasn't been improved in year of working on PES. That's dissapointing. I'm playing ML, how hard would it be to have a cup within the ML where division one and two take part in it? Not Very, surely? Why does the COM never offer to loan my players? And why are loans so expensive to obtain from the COM, especially from stacked teams which will never ever get a chance to give the player any time on the pitch? Not a major issue, but if Konami can improve one area without too much effort, its the ML.
Agree. I love Master League, but it's too hard to sell players and the loan system is terrible. Also, the D1 or D2 Cup is exactly the same as League games - I'd LOVE to play against teams from another division, just for variety!
* And lastly the Crowd/ stadium atmosphere is appalling. Leading Divison 1 playing against number 2 and its the second last game of the season. The whole season will be decided in this one match and only a handful of people turn out to see the game? WTF?? Terrible effort Konami. In general theres no noise, atmosphere from the stands when something huge happens, let alone all the littler things in a game. Big big letdown.
Agreed. The atmosphere is TERRIBLE.
However, I adore this game. It's absolutely fantastic, I can't stop playing it. It has its bad points but for me, the good outweigh the bad every single time.
Hope I've been fair in this ^
Edit: One more thing: I LOVE the way they've finally nailed player stats - you can now have a slow player playing extremely well, or a fast player being poor. In all the previous versions pace was the most important thing. If you had a lightning quick team, you'd win every time. Now, the slower players who can sit back and pick a pass, or have belting long shots are just as important...target men are finally useful (occasionally) and defenders can be unbeatable even if their top speed is 70.
