Just a quick question as to how you guys actually play during a match. Do you use the wings? Overpower the midfield? Long Balls? (in a non hilarious/sexual way ;) aha)

I seem to keep it in the defence and defensive mids, then I go all out and using the L1 and X seemingly send most of my players forward whilst moving the ball nicely. I always try to play playmaking football.
Spreading it and etc. Wondered what you guys do?

I definitely use the wings more often than not. Mostly due to having fast players down both flanks on my Master League team.

Mostly with fast players on the wings, but also quite often I play thru the middle as well. Rarely use long balls.

I've switched to using a 4-4-2 formation like this:

----RB-----CB----CB-----LB------
--------------DMF---------------
--------CMF--------CMF---------
--------------AMF----------------
--------CF------------SS---------

(AC Milan style of play)

Because then I've got 3 depth levels on the midfield.
And what I notice is that the opposition-midfield tends to attack all my midfielders, even my DMF when I'm in controll of the ball.

So basically I first clear the opposition attackers by challenging them to come near me (I just keep the ball long enough in my defensive line untill they come forward). When this happens I pass to a SB and to my DMF again.
Then I clear half of the opposition midfield the same way by letting them attack my DMF and then passing to one of the 2 CMF's, who are now free from cover. And then I've got the option to either make a through ball to my CF or SS, or I decide to let my SB's come up and make a wing attack with them. And usually the AMF has the option to run towards goal without any much resistance either.

So it's working out pretty well for me.
With this system I'm now even beating AC Milan with 8-0 (top player). :D

i use a 4-2-2 formation with wingers.
c.ronaldo on the right and lennon on the left, any striker can score with their delivery :) which is good cos im trying to improve alexandre pato.
but i raely use long balls, unless im putting in a cross, i simply keep the ball on the deck using through passes etc.

I'm a midfield ball hogger. Lots of short pass & move. Developed the habit early on in older PES's when starting with the crap players where long passes and running/dribbling at speed were not an option. The only long ball I ever really play is manual diagonal passes. The through ball button doesn't let this work, but using manual pass can be bloody effective if you play two WF's high up the park.

Ah nice, one of the big errors with the new PES seems to be that quick players are the most important, but ah well :) I like creative :D

I play a 3-5-2.

As one would expect, the SMFs or WBs (depending on who I've got available) do most of the bringing the ball forward, but my defensive end is where the play comes from. My CBs are chosen for their ability to win balls in the air (Height, Jump, etc...), success in which supplies my two DMFs (one very defensive, the other a "Pirlo" type), both of whom are chosen for Body Balance, Covering, and Passing. DMFs supply the extremely fast SMFs, who will play wide and forward, taking on defenders, looking for either crosses to the (very tall, usually) CF or support from the AMF and/or SS on the edges of the box. The playmaking DMF comes forward aggressively for another option in the center.

Works great with the right players. Fails miserably with just one or two "wrong" selections, especially in the back. Very easy to get caught out if defenders aren't chosen carefully. Fortunately, the way the AI plays against 3-in-back is ridiculously predictable, so it's not too hard to make adjustments and prepare oneself.

I play the exact same system as you.
I have have pirlo and gattuso at the moment they are 20.
Any Good DMF that i should know about?
Pirlo is a bit young to put in the team but davids is very good a real terrier of a player,he is very young aswell tho

With a 4-4-2 formation I usually pass the ball to one of my fullbacks, then to one of my wingers and have a run, cut inside and either shoot or lay a midfielder off. I hardly ever cross due to my team not having good aerial powers but the shooting is good enough, Ballack seems to be able to score anything if you just put the power bar to full near the box <_<

A good tip is if you are playing online is to make your opponent think you are passing somewhere then pass to somewhere else. For example I sometimes run my centre back down towards my full back, the guy I am playing the brings the player marking my midfielder and his striker to tackle me, then I just pass to him and there always seems to be a space from then onwards.

Any Good DMF that i should know about?

Holding:

Bos, Vanden Borre, Micah Richards, Duffy, Huddlestone, Bianchi, De Jong, Heitinga, Bradley (both of them, American and English), Aaltonen, Reeves, Oliver, Denilson, M.B. Sall (basically useful exclusively because of his height and body balance - other stats are mediocre-to-decent at best, but those two have big impact in his preferred role)

Playmaking:

Lucas, Kaiser, Camacho, Nijkamp, Van der Vaart (though I usually prefer him further forward), Baraja (try to get him reborn, he's old at first), Tugay, Veron (once again, I prefer him further up, but he does fine anywhere)

Arshavin is a wonderful playmaker, he's two footed which just adds to his talent. Have him sitting in the hole behind your striker and whap that ball around the pitch. This is what its all about :)
