Penalties

i disagree
i found it very intelegent style, and makes it challengable as real life

In real life you are not up in the stands to take a penatly like you are in the new PES, the penalties were fine until now and its the one downfall I have found in the game, havent scored one yet but only took 2.

Is there a penalty shootout mode in the new game? If there's a new penalty system, they should at least have a mode which gives us a chance to practice.

No there isn't a Penalty shooting mode in the new PES

Now thats A grade shit. So hold on, I cant even practice the penalties? Not even in the training ground? in the old days you had to go into the free kick mode and put take the free from inside the area, thus a penalty kick.

Can someone reconfirm this, Im already pissed off about close range AI freekicks, not being able to practice this OTT PK system is another piss take also.

I plan to get this piece of shit on Friday, could get it tomorrow probably but cant be assed.

It´s already bad to have this penalty system in the game and to not being able to practice them is just amazing. It can´t be that hard for Konami to add them to practice mode!

They used to have one back in the day, where you can choose to have penalty shootouts (without playing 120mins).

You can practice penalties. It's under free kick in training. You can select where you want to shoot from. Place the ball inside the penalty area and you'll be shooting penalties.

Yep my bad guys I didn't think to try that in training But damn I wish Evertons goalie was as great a shot stopper as the keeprs in pes during peno's !!!

I found hitting the low gave me the best results. As the goalie seems to know which way you're going to hit it before you do!!!

The biggest issue for me in penalties is the lack of replays... this kind of super fast paced arcade shooting system that BOTH games use is terrible... real penalty shootout is a slow-paced event with a lot of suspense.

It's beyond me why they can't possibly put the optional replays there and slow the tempo down a bit.

So I played my first champions league tournament with Milan. Managed to get to the finals on top player. 0-0 full time. On to extra time; 1st half Inzaghi gets clipped by Gallas and I get a penalty. I miss it; it goes flying over the bar (obviously). End of extra time still 0-0. Down to penalty shootouts. So following that video logic I tried to place the ball on the ground by pressing back. Every fucking time the ball goes over the bar. On a positive note, penalty shootouts are on a 1-v-1 basis.

Lost the champions league to arsenal. Fuck that. Good night.

Help for you !!!

Thread to rant about the worst penalty system ever made. Needs to be fixed in the next version ASAP. I looked at FIFA's penalty system and they nailed it on the dot. They have three meters: pressure, height and power. And you can actually see where you are aiming in training, not to mention see where your shooting (not like the crappy camera angle with PES).

Anyone manage to score consistently on penalties at top player? Also, what's with the camera angle, penalties should be 1-1!!

learn how to do it right ok

It's an incredibly simple yet challenging system once you have a full understanding of the controls. Can't remember the last time I missed a penalty in Pes 2010. Had a few in the Pes 2011 demo too and buried them all in the corners. Discovering that I could practice them in training in Pes 2010 really helped a lot as before I did that I too was confused like everyone else.

That video explains it a bit different and a bit more complicated compared to how I take them. I start off with choosing height, which depends on how long I hold the shoot button. If I want a low drive I'll just tap it. If I'm aiming for top corner I'll hold for about a second or 2 depending on the ability of my penalty taker. So now that I've got my height decided the player will start his run towards the ball. This is when we'll decide on direction. Of course holding nothing will shoot it down the middle. Pushing up or down on the stick will determine which corner you're aiming for. Generally with the good players, holding the stick somewhere between 1-2 seconds will aim for the corners.

Really ??

It doesn't make any difference how long you hold the shoot button down. Tap it, with no direction, it goes along the ground.
Hold it down for 2 seconds, with no direction, it still goes along the ground.

r u guys serious? or is this a joke? I don't think I've missed one yet!! ever since PES 2010, i thought this system was clever...even u look at the opponents controller u can't tell how hard they pushed the button....
if u have any kind of hand-eye coordination and good timing, this should be a piece of cake...the old system was crap..this is what freedom is all about!!
LOL at FIFA with gauges and all that garbage...that's for kids who like arcade games

thanks for your input. very helpful. the guy was asking for tips not some guy to take the piss. totally unnecessary!

i think the idea of making you choose the power etc is great put the camera angle ruins it. the angle must be put right for the next game.
