by the sound of things konami only interested in getting ppl online by fixing the update still no mention of lag, button delay ,cursor, gk patches even offline (PS3) it seems slow its a disgrace offline & online it has so much potential.as for adam bhatti & co they still saying give the laggy, button delay ,cursor ,gk turning sideways i use d_pad but it seems konami want us to use LS & RS to turn.WHY CANT WE CHOOSE WHAT STAYS instead of ppl who obviously know nothing about football or how to use a pad to play it pes 13 controls with pes 2014 graphics its not hard to do for the sheep at konami is it ?

Hi PES fans

Have not been to the forum for a very long time.

Finally PES 2014 is out, it seems there are quite a lot of complaints and
negatives about new PES 2014 especially for PS3 users, well, i m on PS3
so i m worried, have not bought the game yet, but think i ll finally buy the game and get on with it as i need to play some new video games including GTA 5 to keep me entertained before DARK SOULS 2 is out next year, woo, a long time to come.

More people say the game is bad than is good, i hope PES 14 is better than PES 13, if not i can only get back to playing 13 again which is not
a bad game at all.

Not many excellent PS3 game released this year, played tomb raider,
last of us which are quite nice, not other good games to keep me busy.
still crazy about footy games, maybe should give some time to FIFA 14,
dont know, but I always prefer PES for its gameplay and tactics, haha
time to play soccer sims.
good luck to your games and have fun

The one saving grace I can think of is, last years game, at first when it was quite buggy, they said they was bringing out a patch, and only released details of what they was doing to online mode, only for the patch to contain lots of tweaks to the actual game as well, but these details didn't come about until days before the release of the patch. So they say they are doing a patch for faces, but it wouldn't surprise me if it had loads of game tweaks in it as well, we can live in hope right?

I would wait for a while longer until a patch or 2 hits. PES 14 has potential, but right now is plagued with way to many issues.

Just showing you guys how the jostle (Right stick) works, it can get you some good chances... But don't let your opponents go up the other end and score like I did in this video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X7fs6B1zgc

LOL you got f***ed up son, you should have been like a ninja and fly kicked them in the back when they tried breaking :ninja: , was it CPU or online you was playing, thanks for showing the jostling working though, I now live in hope my ps3 version will be fixed one day and I might keep editing it.

lol fair play, if you could now show me a video of you performing a few block tackles in quick succession, you will fully restore my hope that the ps3 game is fixable, because the 2 main peevs of mine was I couldn't jossle, even with Carroll and I couldn't tackle unless I slid in they just walked through all my block tackles even straight head on... If you can show me that, I will kiss you... well I won't, your a dirty hammer (even though Carroll is like my football guilty pleasure) I love it when he flattens defenders lol, he is still in my team on pes13 even though I have Ronaldos and Messi's... 297 games 301 goals... get in there AC!

Block players is easy? I always bring two players to the ball normally, also have you tried double tapping the X button? (this performs a standing tackle, but if you time it wrong you will be left there lol).

I am the opposite though, I cannot slide tackle for the life of me in this game. My players seem to slide the wrong way and about 80% of the time I give a foul away... lol

I paid £20 and got the superior version by the sounds of things.

I was going to buy the PS3 version, but the demo put me off and I love modding the game.

No yea fella, the defending hasn't changed apart from you can now have more than 2 people hounding at once, I try everything, pressing R2 to face them right on then the normal X and R1, R2 then double tap, simply double tap, simply r1 and x, square and x together with r1... even when they run straight at me the gits... but since you are saying it's easy on pc, it actually gives me hope, if not ill have to one day build my own gaming pc and play it on that... games are always 10x better on pc anyways.

The only reason I bought it on PC was due to the modding - With one patch I have all licensed teams, cups, kits etc. Faces can be patched in also. I also hoped that the menus and stuff would be better in the final version (because the PS3 menu was laggy as fuck in the demo)... and it is all fixed on the PC version.

You can get a mediocre rig like mine for like £400 (if you already have a monitor that is).

Yea i got a HD monitor, But I'd probably get a bigger one TBH, i like a big screen when gaming, and I've seen the PC modding, hell pes 2013 faces looked amazing on the pc mods

OK final opinion after playing quite a bit in the last week:

The good: Excellent animations, solid shooting system, and good dribbling and passing systems.

The bad:
- Scripting: players switch to turbo mode when they chase through balls; defenders burn nitro when they chase attackers in space; goalkeepers broken, make saves they have no business making, never leave the goal-line, and because of that regularly concede goals from 4 meters out or deflect shots into the net. Also, the AI fouls you all the time, but the player never blows the whistle...
- Glitches: players watch the ball or run away from it, the game performs poorly on some machines, various physics glitches, the notorious corner glitch a few people mentioned, and so on.
- Poor AI: the players move around well enough, but the enemy team AI is atrocious, it makes bad decisions all the time, and it can only score with through-ball exploits which look scripted and lame. Worse, the pass-assistance system has been broken, and now your players will regularly make the worst possible pass in a given situation, whereas in the previous iterations of PES they would put the ball exactly where you want it to go.
- Low amount of content: The game includes the faces of only the more famous players; there are very few stadiums, and the "Konami" stadium sucks (in daytime the right-hand penalty area falls under shadow and it's hard to see what goes on in there); the ML is bare-bones (that's not necessarily bad, but IMO the ML from 2 years ago was more interesting); various licenses missing; in short, one can see Konami have started rebuilding from scratch.
- Lame features: "Advanced shooting" just doesn't work. The new penalty and free kick systems are OK. But they are also right out of the Fifas in the '90s, and they seem to miss the idea present in the old Konami games - arrows and such break the player's immersion. The "aimed" shot no longer works since it's too weak and the keeper never leaves his line. I don't even try long shots, since when I tried a few in training, the goalie caught all of them. Heading works but is unnecessarily complicated - you have to press the top button (through pass) after pressing the shot button, or, a lot of the time, your player would put the ball above the net.

Overall impression: When everything fits together, the game is fun and good looking. It's possible to score gorgeous goals. The ML is as addicting as ever. However, a lot of the time the player suffers from a myriad of minor problems, bugs, scripts, and glitches - and the gameplay experience deteriorates correspondingly.

So, as a lot of people say, we have a good game here, but also an unfinished game. Is it better than PES2013? Hard to say. As a total experience, probably not. But as a new experience, especially when the components of the game fit together, definitely yes.

Rating: A generous reviewer could give the game 8/10, while a harsher reviewer could give it 7/10.

Just curious if a match length mod has been released yet? 5 minutes is way too short and 10 feels to long for me when playing Master League. I remember for 2013 there was a time mod that allowed me to switch the length to whatever I pleased. Any news on that?

2 good examples.

1. The terrible keepers.

2. The terrible A.I and stuck in animations.

The Jostle system is pointless with the crappy ref ( PC) cause every time I shoulder barge of the ball it gets given as a foul. Just like 80% of all the good tackles I do.

pes2014 is like playing football in sinking sand on a bed of wet cement with shackles on .... and that is offline, when online words can not describe the drowning effect this game has on my soul....

1. I would like to see your reaction times in goal from that close. Especially being blocked by 1/2 players.

2. There was nothing wrong with the AI, the only stuck animation I could see in the clip I posted was where I went to control shoot - It slid a little to make room for the shot.

The jostle system isn't pointless at all, maybe you are just bad at using it? I only ever use it when I am on the attack. For defender I mainly use the shoulder barge (X), X and Square together to bring another player in or IF I know I will 100% get the ball I will slide (Which again, the opposite to you I give away about 80% of fouls whilst sliding than any other method of tackling).
