I'm just not sure if i can play this game anymore. They've completely over done everything like all the different settings for shooting or passing. After trying them all out none of them seem to work very well; basic passing just isn't good enough anymore as the AI will constantly choose the wrong option for you. Manual passing/through balls take too long to pull off so by the time you set the ball where you want it to go, and the animation runs it's course, you're usually being tackled. And as for trying to do skills, whilst flicking the right analogue to gain some space with your shoulder, and then having to do some bizarre movement with the left and right analogue again, is just an over the top mess of button bashing.

AND then add to all of the above having to activate some sort of special team move by bashing more buttons because the AI is too stupid to make any sort of sensible run on it's own.

Try Pass Support at 1. It feels great, still gives you tons of control.
Also, there is no special team move to unlock a defense you just have to figure out how you want to play.

If you have a CF that runs the channels, he will make runs for your team depending on the situation; if you have CF more suited for a post game he will come towards you.

if you do want your players to instantly go from defense to offense then you have mess with the sliders in Game Plan.

There is a good balance in the gameplay for exactly this. Some teams will invite pressure and then run in the open space when they get the ball, while others will build farther up the pitch and then use runs or hold up play to get in behind. So you have to figure out how you would like to play.

I would be lying if I didn't say I am seriously considering trading this in for FIFA. The graphics are really good and the atmosphere from the fans sounds better (especially when scoring) and I can really see where Konami want to go with it. However there is a lot wrong with it as well, not least the control lag when shooting (if I want a power shot, I've usually been tackled before releasing the button) And then there's the lack of licences and stadia (which does count towards realism). I've read that updates have made FIFA14 more or less a refined version of FIFA13 - and to me that sounds quite a bit closer to the game I would enjoy. I'm a little dismayed that some of the strongest attributes of PES13 (Player ID and dribbling/skill moves) appear to have been revised for the worse.

PES14 is certainly a step forward, and it's got a lot of promise. But I really am torn between the two.

My last PES was 2009.. So after 4 years I am very disappointed..
Here is my OWN opinion thus far on PES 2014 playing on Top
The negative:
- Delay time in nearly every thing from passing, shooting even in player movements, I press the analog stick and dont feel the player moving as fast as i press it.
- passing using basic (+1) - even thought better - still feels like the AI chooses more than I do.
- Cannot notice the diffrence between basic and advanced shooting.
- Manual shooting is way too hard.
- AI is very aggressive and have way better response time on loose balls, as some times I have to tackle the ball more than once until I can win it.
- AI through balls ( hight +low) are nearly always pinpoint, resulting in Cheap AI goals, I mean in real life u don't see such accurate passing even from high end teams. THIS IS MY MAIN COMPLAINT.
- I have never seen so many low stat players do so many skill moves so frequently.
- Slow defenders catch up to the some of the fastest players in the game with ease, I think it was done on purpose so players can have a chance to reach the ball seeing that through balls are too effective. (although I found out that by pressing the dash button twice to kick the ball further greatly reduces this ).
- The AI defense feels some times a bit too stupid, it takes away the sense of accomplishment when i score a goal. ( Ex. One time after they scored a goal I dribbled from my half to score a goal using sessegnon which has an overall rating of 81 on top player !!)
- AI keepers are too good.
- When playing a friendly game team overall rating isn't there?
- Presentation is old and dull.
- User players don't feel like doing any effort to win high ball ( Headers ).
- A fully grown up man ( South Wales goal keeper ) wearing pink clothes, FIFA should prohibit men from wearing that color.... It's just wrong.

Positive:
- Unlike FIFA you can take on opponents defense with a good player and a descent amount of practice, and it feels good.
- The right analog stick ( weight shift ) is near perfectly implemented.
- Graphics are awesome.
- Ball, net, player physics are realistic, I specially like it when a sliding tackle connects with the oppositions player.
- when a one-touch Pass is made ( as i said earlier isn't very responsive ) it's great.

If Konami does not resolve most of these issues this year looks like I'll be getting a FIFA game for the next 3-4 years too
