Pes 2009 > pes 2010..?

Anyone agree with me? I've tried my best to patient with all the new things and problems etc with 2010, but now, however many months it is later, I've had enough. I'm going to go into GAME on my next day off, and trade it back in for 2009.

Anyone else thought of doing this? For the others who think 2010 is gash (and I know there's ALOT of you) have you considered this?

you are on your own my friend. I dont see many doing what you are planning to do because basically PES 2010 is a better game.

The only thing that was better in pes 2009 was the response. All the other things are much better implemented in pes 2010. I can't see myself going back to pes 09 because I quit that game and went with fifa last year. This year I am with both.:)

BELIEVE
I have to agree with the responders, I think PES 2010 is literally light years ahead of PES 2009. The last few years the PES titles have felt quite watered down and rushed (PES 2008, 2009), however that's not the case with 2010, it's a much more complete game with well integrated features such as the Europa League/Champions League not only in the Master League, but also in the normal League Mode. The actual gameplay itself as well is a lot more enjoyable with less noticable and frustrating mistakes compared with previous PES's. The amount of rebounded tap-ins I'd scored on previous titles was astronomical, but with 2010 the AI of the defenders is much improved and they're often in a position to safely clear the ball before the striker moves in (unless of course the striker's statistics and response far outweigh that of the defenders, e.g. Van Nistelrooy vs. Bramble).

Muscularmatt, you're on your own here for this one I'm afraid. I'm loving PES for the real first time in years, and I haven't even touched the Master League yet!

Pes 2009 was better IMO. But I wont be going back to it.

Apart from graphics there is nothing in pes 2010 that is better than 09. Theres many things worse.

^Like what? If you pay close attention to football games, then you would know that pes 09 was way too arcadey. Pes 2010 is much more realistic.
Shooting? In pes 2010 we have screamers. In pes 09 it was too AI controlled.
Passing? Again in pes 09 it was too AI controlled. In pes 2010 if you think you can pass the ball pretty good. But passing still needs to improve in pes 2010.
Individuality? Pes 2010 enhances pes 09's individuality.
AI? In pes 09 your teamates AI in Be a legend especially really sucked and the opposing AI dominates. While in pes 2010 your teamates are better. They pass much better.
Dribbling? In pes 09 we could dribble the whole team and in pes 2010 we can dribble but to a certain point. I still want better dribbling than pes 2010 but in pes 2010 dribbling is certainly better than in pes 2009.
Goalkeepers? They are improved in pes 2010
Game speed? Pes 2010 is certainly slower with a more realistic pace.
So I cannot see your point in saying that many things are worse in pes 10.

I mostly agree with you Shaun, but obviously it can all be down to preferences. It's no real use saying "dribbling is better", "shooting is better", it might be more beneficial to the argument if you say what's changed exactly and why you prefer it as opposed to simply it's "better" - quite a vague statement really, which is purely opinion-orientated.

As a whole though I just personally think PES 2010 is a more solid complete game, with a slower pace to the matches which I think de-emphasises dribbling which is exactly how I like it. I think PES 2009 was plagued by easy dribbling which was detrimental to realistic passing football, however now in PES 2010, there's more emphasis on the passing aspect of the game. It's just a bit of a shame we don't have a similar passing system to FIFA otherwise PES would be mind blowing.

My one criticism of PES's shooting, primarily in 2010 is the "finesse" shot doesn't look as nice as it could - technically speaking. I'd like to see more emphasis on the inside of the foot kicking animation, and definitely more curl on the shot as we've seen time and time again in real life.

^I know, they're all opinions, but I tried to compare both games to reality. Especially in dribbling department.

Like
Things worse than 2009

Player selection is worse
Computer AI is weaker
GKs make more stupid mistakes and descions
Passing is too assisted
Player control is too assisted
Player selection is worse
No weather
Less stadiums
No custom 2v2 cup
Referees are completely clueless
Cant save formations
Cant remember controller selections for 2nd player
More Unresponsive
More Sluggish
Everything about 2v2 basically.

What pes 2010 improves on from 2009.

Graphics and animations. Stadiums look better
BAL teamamtes pass more
BAL stats increase faster
Easier to do screamers, but not as much satisfaction when they go in
Pace of the game is just about right
Fast passing is easier but a little 2 easy

But thats my opinion. I play a lot of 2v2 and this is the worst year I can remember for 2v2. Everything is a step backwards for that mode. Thats the main reason I'm so dissapointed, not really bothered about weather and graphics.

I did try online and that seems better than last year.

But overall this version seems very rushed.

Fair enough with your opinion but saying goalkeepers are worse now than previously? Really? That's quite a surprise to hear as they've always been abysmal but now actually do well. They now tend to parry shots away from danger a lot of the time unlike before, and make less mistakes....in my opinion of course but I thought it was quite substantially obvious.

They are hopeless at reading diaganol balls. They stand in the completley wrong position.
Similar when they come out to meet a ball, instead of narrowing the angle they run to where the ball would end up if nobody else touches it, and wait there. (Hard for me to explain that one.)
Instead of catching simple balls they decide to head it alot.
Sometimes they even score own goals because they have a bad first touch and just dribble it into the back of their own net.

This is my keeper and the computers.

Absolutely spot on. Yes PES keepers used to spill a lot of shots, and they still do in 2010 too.

They run to where the balls position was when the button to bring them out is pressed, so if its a diagonal ball (which is often is) then they're horribly out of position.

Even when coming out to 'sweep up' is a complete farce, for one they don't sprint, they saunter out before deciding that the best way to deal with a chest high ball 20-30 yards out is to slide.... underneath it, leaving the striker with an open goal

Player selection is worse
Completely agree, especially when you're defending and it doesn't let you select the right player

It also infuriates me when a series actively REMOVES options. It almost begs the question "Are they just making sure they have something to fix next time round?"

Why was the random player function (of PES6) taken out?
Why was the 'select' button function taken out of training mode?
Why can you no longer select your goalkeer to come up in the last minute?
Why MUST we have a wall wherever inside your half the foul is?

On the whole this is a rushed game which just feels incomplete in a big number of areas across the board

Alot of the good points you make about 2010 I do agree, but it just is not a finished product for me. There are many things that are better and it IS more realistic, but there are just too many things that piss me off to the point of wanting to throw the controller at the telly. I still haven't decided, but I might be going to GAME in the morning...

dude i'm with you on this. here's y.
*Pes 2010 is slower and even tho it may seem more realistic, it does not help d gamer. it's a 10 minute game for Christ's sake.
*No more unpredictable goals...the goals ur ML team score are basically the same every match, either crossing and heading or just shooting around d area etc..
*Refs are stupid. once u tackle and touch the ball, it doesn't matter whether u hacked sum1 from behind with two feet or u're d last man. the refs don't whistle.
*too difficult to dribble, konami overdid it.
*too unresponsive.

Even tho the graphics and commentary are improved and master league revamped, i hate to say the game gets boring a lot faster than 09.

The only part where I agree is with response and refs.
Difficulty to dribble? Ever tried playing a football game in reality? It is really hard to dribble around. But the only thing that makes dribbling a little uneffective is the response.
Pace being slower means a more realistic game so I cannot see the point in a really fast game like pes 2009.
And same goals in every match? That's surly not pes 2010. If pes 2010 has everyting wrong, then variety is not one of them.

Prefer pes 2010 over 2009. But as many of you mention the fecking response issue is so annoying. And i really don't get why they haven't discovered it during the testing period of the game..

Played loads of PES 2009. Loving 2010. I would never go back, simply for one reason alone...

The ridiculous 90 degree turns. So glad their gone.

As for 2010, I don't find responsiveness to be an issue at all. I think the goals are much more random and varied than in 09 by far, mostly because you can't dribble through the whole team, and also I think Master League in 2010 alone is such a huge improvement that going back is surely going to be a mistake. Trust me, think about it, you might end up having to trade in 09 for 2010 again in a month, because it sounds to me like you just need to give the game more time to grow on you (i.e. for you to get better at it).

When it comes down to it, what PES 2010 has that maybe no other footy game ever has had is a certain degree of realism that comes not form the on-the-pitch play, but from the general uncertainty you have when playing it. Honestly, this might change, but I'm still never sure if I will win or not when I start a match, whereas in 09 I always knew that if I did certain things (dribbling through the whole team and shooting in close basically) that I would win.

Also, refs don't bother me, and although it could be said that the goalkeeprs are worse in certain situations, all in all with the better defending it's much better that 09 IMO.

Most important is how we can adapt to the PES 2010 gameplay system. If we can learn to enjoy PES 2010, PES 2010 will be a good game to play...

Dribbling was a lot of fun in 09. Even though it wasn't very realistic it was fun to see the players twist and turn and do fancy tricks with ease. I find 2010 improved on every department except response.

The most annoying thing for me about 09 was the stupid behaviour that prevented you from taking decent volleys. Like when a ball would bounce towards the edge of box following a corner kick, it was exceedingly hard to get off a decent volley. Most of the times they would just head it or be in such a stupid position that making a good strike would be impossible. Now it's much more realistic and you'll actually see goals from that situation.

PES 2009 has been confined to the loft and thats were it will stay!

PES 2010 has many faults but I will run with it now until PES2011
