I think PES is becoming more arcadey whereas Fifa is going for more of the realism.

But this is just my own opinion.

yes i agree .but on the other hand when you play ure mates or friends online and people not just whoring the game, it is still by far the best footy sim . but particular online i just see 99% of the matches going on it just turns in2 100 metres sprint

FIFA is lacking a little due to a couple of gameplay bulkiness quirks, smoothness and stats mattering yes.
PES's gameplay is simply not nextgen in any way possible ATM. The only nice addition is quick free kicks.

However, PES suffers has so many more badpoints.

Oh and the Champions League Mode was an obvious panic purchase by Konami because they realised FIFA was going to produce a so much more better game.

FIFA have smashed it this year IMO. ADIDAS Live Seasons for me has made every week different. Atlast FIFA have used their liscences to VERY good effect! Online FIFA is lightyears ahead of PES. You don't expect PES to match this... but you expect them to have accurate stats of players which they DON'T. Robbie keane nearly as fast as torres on PES 2009.... lol what a joke. Konami obviously have the worst researchers in the world. If a game like FM 2009 can have teams of researchers accuractley portraying thousands of players stats, surely PES can manage this with their very limited player poor.

Offline, PES is a dissapointment. Champions League mode is dire, Master League has become a heap of crap and BAL is the only decent mode [which needs SOOOO much more work]. Why can't they take Master League back to the PES 6 presentation then build on that? I don't care about new layouts or pictures of my player's faces in news reports... I want DEPTH of the game. I thought this year they might expand on scouting, the financial side of the game or just make it harder yet more straightforward to sign players rather than having an annoying laggy arrow points to if I get a player or not.

PES now has to improve on gameplay, modes available, replayability and a bunch more crap. I don't see them doing this. Regardless, I'lll probably buy it next year lol. Most other people I know have quit it now but oh well. :/

In Fifa do players like Robin Van Persie still do the Obafemi Martins flip when they score, or have they fixed that? To me the players in Fifa all seem too much alike, and a few Fifa fans I have heard say that they too think PES does a much better job of recreating individual players (likeness, and player types as well as things like celebrations). Maybe PES has some numbers wrong, but that's easy to edit (takes about five minutes to change Kean's speed btw, but in Fifa I don't think you can change a player's unrealistic celebration routines, not that I could find anyway). Moreover, I'd rather have a few numbers that need tweeking than have players who have the right stats, but the numbers don't really make the players on the pitch behave that much differently.

I'd also rather do the ongoing stats edits myself than pay to have someone do it for me. I actually find it fun:no:... but that's just me I guess.

Who really cares about celebrations and player likeness that much? An old style Fifa fan that's who, not a PES fan. To hear a PES fan defend the game by pointing to these things is a sign of desperation and acceptance that Fifa has overtaken PES in terms of pure game play.

No LOL. PES's faces suck. Have you seen Torres's? FIFA's are way better. PES's look FAKE. FIFA have decided this generation they can't get them quite so realistic so they've put a certain artistic slant on the player models to make them PRESENTABLE. oh and they look much better on the pitch.

In terms of celebrations to the other poster, you can do whatever and i mean whatever celebrations you want to do. I used to dislike the celebrations system in FIFA but now i love it. Everytime i score in PES now, its kinda empty. no celebrations, no commentary which is actually positive... :( What are you talking about? unrealistic celebrations? you do WHATEVER celebration YOU want to do in-game right after you score. You can go off and celebrate with the fans, you can do a backflip, you can slide on your knees, you can silence the crowd etc.

and LOL thats retarded. saying you'd rather edit your own stats. its time consuming, stupid and subjective. the moskt stupid way too defend a game. you're basically saying "lol its ok if the developers want to be lazy cos i like doing their job for them". FIFA have obviously put a reasonable ammount of time into their stats research hence it being more REALISTIC. whats the point of PES making you feel the differences between players if they don't actually feel right to their reallife counterparts? its pure LAZY that konami haven't got a team of researchers finding accurate stats for their players. FIFA does it. FOOTBALL MANAGER does it. why can't PES? lets not even take into account adidas live seasons which shits on PES's stats...

honestly FIFA is now IMO appealing to real football fans. nothing better than watching the weekends games, switching on FIFA, getting a live update then see all the changes to the clubs reps and players stats as according to the weekends games. if i see gerrard score a screamer on the weekend, i'll know he'll be like that on live seasons. i used to like PES for gameplay but its taken too many steps back. i still buy it but its plain bad. master league has gotten so dire and repetitive. FIFAs campaign mode is showing clear improvements.

honestly all PES has on FIFA atm is stats. IMO FIFA should definitley implicate more stats so they're even more important as opposed to the overall system. but regardless, its still a minor fault when u take into account how well FIFA puts into place the atmosphere and pace of the game.

Hmmm... I thought the com controlled the celebrations in Fifa, but if it's player controlled that explains why I was seeing these unrealistic things like RVP doing backflips. When I saw that I thought "holy crap EA still doesn't know the EPL at all!!!"

Anyway, relax dude, I'm not trying to defend PES, or slag Fifa, at least not in an absolute way. It's only when I hear such blatant slagging of PES and pumping up of Fifa that I can't help but comment, and for the record I'm sorry I ever did (not that I personally think you're right in your choice of Fifa over PES, but in that I know it's impossible to argue with someone who already has their mind made up).

Personally... I happen to find PES's gameplay better, and if you can't accept that some people see it that way then go bury your head in the sand and scream about it. I can see that Fifa is good this year, but PES keeps me hooked (it just gets better and better for me the more I play), so why should I switch? Is that so hard to understand? I own Fifa, and have given it many chances. I just don't see what all the fuss is about. If, one day I decide I've had enough of PES, I'll probably pop in Fifa again, but that day has not come and I doubt it ever will.

PS - I think I did a good enough job of explaining why I don't care about Fifa roster updates. Do you really think someone like me who loves PES gameplay and enjoys editting is going to start playing Fifa just because the rosters get updated online, especially, like I said, when those changes don't mean much in terms of gameplay? The fact that you continue to argue points like that shows that where you're coming from is Fanboy Land.

Peace.

The difference is that in PES the Stats do play an important part.. On the other hand, I cannot say the same about FIFA, every player pretty much (judging by FIFA08) feels and plays the same.

The FIFA-Faces look embarrassing for a Next Gen title, they should look at 2K9.

But anyways, FIFA and PES are both outdated in my opinion. I still think PES5 and PES6 (PS2 versions) are better games.

And yeah, FIFA is clearly improving -whereas- PES has improved for the worst.
