Comparing top player to top player in ML, 2010 is way, way easier than 2009 IMO. And, that being said, I scored loads of cheap goals in 09, but in 2010 there is more variety (albeit there are the odd early cross diving header goals...)
i find the ai hardly score goals i have played masterleague with a shit team im leading the table with 38 goals for and 11 goals against so annoying there is a superstar toll out that makes it harder but it doesnt work in the master league. here http://downloads.moddingway.com/file/692.html

Playing with Holland vs Bulgaria on Prof level in the 37min of the first half.
I chased Manolev with Robben. He turned and played the ball back to his goalkeeper.
From outside the box........the ball rolled to the keeper......and.........the keeper let it go through his legs!!!!
A backpass normal speed from 18 metres! He didnt even tried to touch the ball!
After this "&(^&%^" owngoal they scored another owngoal 2 minutes later.
This was an "normal" one. Cross from Robben and it went in from a defender.
I am going to try to contact Konami and ask a refund of my money.
This is theft!!!!!

Also have you ever heard of glitches? They're present in every game.
Deal with it. If this happened many times then yes, it would be a major issue, but it rarely happens. I am not saying it's good that it's there, because it's not. But it happens rarely and glitches are in every game.

Scoring is easy, that's why I choose to only fire from 20 meters or further...

I think it's harder to have good build up play and score from in close than it is to score long rangers in 2010.
If you want a challenge, don't score from long range, or from headers either. Especially though, don't use the early cross.
I also find the game to easy. Went unbeaten in my first season with Liverpool. So, I decided to play a match with a weak team against Man U.
Cardiff 2-0 Man U. I was Cardiff. I am using an assisted settings setup that was supposed to make the CPU attack and play better, but they didn't. So I then, this morning, downloaded the update for boots and balls. All of the assisted settings disappeared. Pointless.
If you want the game harder then I can only say that you should decrease the match length because when you update the assisted settings, they disappear after an update and it takes about 30 minutes setting them all. Unless you want to keep on updating them after every update, I suggest decreasing the time.
EDIT: Decreasing the time did nothing, still too easy.

I'm on the fence here.
In my Eredivisie "League mode", I chose Feyenoord, primarily because I love their kit. I ended up losing just 1 league game all season and walking to a league title, although lost in the KNVB Cup Final and Europa League Final, but still.
Now I've started a Serie A "League mode", I chose Fiorentina, this time mainly because they aren't a very good team, they're decent enough so it'll be a nice challenge and they have a lovely kit also. I'm currently finding it really difficult 7 games in or so. Possibly to do more so with Fiorentina's style of play, formation and lack of striking options, but I'm sitting mid-table which isn't ideal as I really want to be winning the league with nice football to unlock classic players if possible. I'm considering restarting the Serie A with a different team. I do want it to be a challenge definitely, but at the moment I'm being dominated, even when I pull off a win, I rarely have time on the ball, space, or options especially in the final third which is more frustrating than anything. As I say I believe it's Fiorentina's set-up, since they play Mutu (SS) quite far back behind Gilardino (CF). Where I played free-flowing football with Feyenoord in their natural 4-3-3 formation, so I might restart the Serie A with a natural 4-3-3 team, providing they have a nice colourful kit.

What difficulty are you playing on Hunter? I seem to win too often and not get challenged which is annoying. Playing yesterday, Cardiff City vs Manchester United, I took the lead, and in reality, I would then have no possesion and they would throw the kitchen sink at me, however, they did nothing. I ended up winning 2-0.

As I say though, I think it's more so me being incapable of succeeding with Fiorentina since I dominated so much with Feyenoord.
Either way though, I don't believe it's too difficult to be honest. You just need to mix it up a little and be creative when playing.
I find it too easy though. It's got slightly harder because I have been playing FIFA with my mate for a bit. However, the CPU never makes me have that feeling that I'm going to concede like they do on FIFA.

I'm not abusing my Level 5 scout. I merely have not signed anybody other than Carlton Cole and Di Maria who aren't very good in-game. Besides, I shouldn't have to be forced into using a specific team to make the game harder. Instead of reinacting the F.A Cup ties that happened, why should I pretend everybody in my team is Minanda etc.?
Lazy from Konami to not make CPU attack. I could probably still defeat Man United with the default players because they don't even venture into my half, or use the spark they have in real life.
All I want to do is make it more difficult all around so that no matter whether I play Exhibition, Cup, League or Master League, I should be challenged and not forced to use some made up default fantasy team. I should be able to use Coventry and struggle against the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool and have to think of how to score. But they just make it easy for me.
BTW: Sorry if I appear to have offended you but this is my opinion.
Also, I even decreased my Scout, Coach, Fitness, Fan Club etc. by 2 levels after my first season. Still to easy.

Oh dude I don't give a shit. I've played Superstar difficulty in the foreign version of the game, plays like amateur. It's just the way the sliders are. Some teams only want to defend.
