BTW: is just me or KONAMIs 1.20 update didn't fix _anything_ ?? i mean cursor switching is the same, and that was supposed to be the major thing to fix..wasn't it?

The new patch does seem to make Top Player harder but with minimal scripting, which is why it says "Adjust game difficulty accordingly"
The opposition does really go at you especially when there a goal down and a better overall team than you. I've had a few games being 1-0 up and
it's certainly brown trousers time when defending with 5-10 mins to go.
Seems a good patch though, currently playing with 1.0.8b as I like the more realistic pace to the game.

Ok so i did some testing tonight but maybe i need to test more.
Basically i played the same game 3 times with 1.02 standard, 1.08a and 1.08b.
On 1.02 i won the game 4-0 and even though im not sure if i just had a great game some of the passing was brilliant great link ups all over, never short of a man to pass to or a player running into space, goals scored were nice 7-8 passes then a goal mostly. The ai hit the post once.
Then i tried 1.08a winning this time 5-1, the play was decent passing was fairly crisp it wasnt the same as the first game, with barca like play but it was good non the less goals were in places slightly more scrappy the speed felt nice kinda pes2010. For the ai goal i got caught on the counter(through ball clean on goal) as i was mauling them i was pushing up a lot.
Then i tried 1.08b, here i won 6-1 for the first 20mins or so i was struggling more with passes, im not sure if it was me or my imagination that i was also not getting as much support as usual making it harder to get attacks rolling/lacking flow often getting cut out or shutdown fast through lack of options. Then after a while maybe getting used to it i started getting goals quite quickly it was 5-1 at 50min mark, it could have finished much higher. Also the ai made some quite big mistakes - one was a pass across goal letting me 1 on 1, i realise this could be random also so it needs testing more.
I think i may stick with the original 1.02 or 1.08a for the time being, the slow down(1.08b) for me seems to be un-natural and disjoints my passing game.
Id be interested to know exactly whats changed as opposed to Improved AI etc... How is the ai improved exactly, whats been fiddled with to make it 'better', despite that its also good thats theres kind of different flavours for everyone.

1.08a: AI is quite hard, VERY hard..but i dont find any scripting or cheating..is just frikking hard
...but I LOVE IT!!! makes a whole new game for me, very challenging, and much more fun.
1.08b: The game pace seems slower, dunno if it is "more" realistic than 1.08a, but yes, it is slower pace. Also i find the AI not attacking as aggressively as with 1.08a, but still very hard to play against in Top Player.
Im gonna stick with 1.08a, which is the one that makes the game more fun for me.

For me its a toss up between leaving it untouched and 1.08a, but i wouldn't say it was very hard though, i think the ai is more shoot on sight and slightly more direct is all. Been playing some more this morning and im still winning by 3 goals or more on 1.08a, top player ofc.

Oh man, I just patched the 1.06 version to my game and damn, was I glad to see that my defenders/midfielders actually make an effort to win the ball!
I mean, yeah, it might just be a placebo effect, but it really feels as if your own team is working harder in defence, which has been the biggest problem by far when it comes to BAL this year.

It really is true Ravex the team close down more, sometimes its good sometimes they get caught with throughballs but for me its a vast improvement from the defence that backs off until its in its own 6yard box.
BAL makes the def look much better too because your defenders no longer just smash the ball out and panic they play it straight up the field without messing about.
Not only that i seemed to get some great through balls with the patch, more so than usual.
I prefer 1.08b for BAL and 1.08a for ML funnily enough.

it shouldn't still be patched if you return to the original exe. so after the patch, youll have pes2011.exe and if you backed up, it should be basically the same file with a different name like pes2011 - copy.exe or something. if you want to return, just delete the patched one and change the name of the copied version to the original name, and you're set....
