This thread here is for people that really want to know what this game plays like. I purchased the US version and I have had it for a week and a half now, played it solid. This is where I'm at...

I have installed the latest patch (1.1) and I have the US option file (MrGameTight's one) and I had a few friendlies until I had enough points to start a Master League with the original players, I'm Juventus so I wanted Pirlo, Del Piero, Pepe etc...

Now, I've been a Fifa fan since 08 because I felt that the PES series dropped off after PES6 (the last great PES in my opinion) and it felt horrible playing Fifa, wasn't right at all but I stuck with it and started to think it was ok. Fifa 9 and 10 in particular blew me away as Fifa titles go. It was great, I kept seeing what Pro Evo was like and it seemed to be getting worse. I didn't really care anymore because Fifa was keeping me occupied. Fifa 11 was ok also but didnt give me the enjoyment 10 did. Now here's the thing, Fifa 9 and 10 didnt give me anywhere near the joy that prime PES did but I thought there was a simple reason for this, I'm growing up! Of course I'm not going to be screaming at my defenders in dispair or jumping around like a loon when I clinch that all important goal... I've grown up right? WRONG!!

PES 2012 has had me acting like a child from day one!! This game is absolutely amazing, by far the best footie game I've played on next gen, maybe ever, it's that good!! As I've already said, im doing a Master League with Juventus, what an epic season im having too! I've just been dumped out of the Champions League group stage by Bayer Leverkusen, I need to win by 2 clear goals to go through on goal difference. I started the game well, scoring in the 25th minute, then I doubled my lead in the 68th. At this stage im flying, Leverkusen are going home, Ballack has gone off injured also!! Leverkusen were getting desperate and started the long ball tactic and in the 88th minute Rolfes headed home to give them advantage... I crashed out, I lost to Chelsea twice, beat Olympiakos twice and Bayer once but it wasn't enough!!

I'm currently 4th in Serie A and am in desperate need of a striker, I've just put a bid in for Higuain, Luca Toni has been in a strop all season, he's off!! Seriously though, this game is amazing, I havent grown up at all, yay!!!!!!!! Fifa could never do this to a gamer, I'm so glad I see the light. The authenticity is amazing too, the way they have champs league games during a serie A season, the way they have world player of the year, cup comps the lot... I LOVE PES 2012. PES 2012 = RETURN OF THE KING!!!!!

nice thread, yes PES12 is a great game! Really enjoying it... I've only really played online games, I will try the ML like you're doing, sounds like lots of fun. My only 2 complaints are, I wish the crossing was less effective and the gamespeed online was a bit less as it feels too fast and can't be adjusted. Other than that its great! The goalies have been fixed as well from what they were in the demo... Solid game!

As long as they have scaled the stamina correct i have no problem in the game being alittle fast, afterall it is a CPU game! People online almost always run high pressure and constantly hold sprint, i hope they get punished for this!

The core gameplay and fundamentals are there and therefor its very promising and has huge potential.
However there are incredible amount of issues and annoyances and I just hope jenkey/yair or whoever tries to better this game can fix at least half of them, then its going to be an enjoyable game. So far its just a soccer game, nothing great, but with great potential.

After playing the game much more in the past few days I have come to the conclusion which my biggest gripes are with the game. There are many other small one but IMO these are the ones that really ANNOY me and make me enjoy this game MUCH MUCH less than I would if they were gone. These are :

*1* Lack of Freedom /// from shooting being automated at times, to automated crosses, to wrong teammates something running after the ball when some other teammate is much closer and much more logical to run after the ball, to the game forcing you into things at times like you can't sprint when using off the ball during set pieces or when the opponent GK has the ball. The game simply LACKS any sort of freedom, I feel like im trapped in a cell surrounded by 4 walls and I can't escape, it feels very bad and very suffocating. I will never understand why KONAMI choose to made these things, even made some of them like shooting worse from last year in terms of freedom when they got FEEDBACK from us from last year that we want more freedom and that the game forces you into things at times. And im not sure anyone even jenkey can fix this issue.

*2* Stats of players /// some might not even agree with me but the fact remains that some stats are overpowered, this is one of the main reasons why almost every match is a high scoring match. Mainly accuracy stats are the ones that are overpowered, dribbling acc, shooting acc, passing acc, set piece acc... etc As a result the attackers have an advantage compared to defenders because they can dribble easier , they can hit the target easier , they can pass around easier hence the defence vs attack balance is broken and its currently about 40:60 imo. Luckly this can all be fixed by stat changing which will happen in the future by various people so this balance will be corrected a bit so im sure this point will disapear in the future. One thing that can't be corrected tho is the deleting of acceleration, I have no clue why KONAMI choose to do this but its the WORST DECISION I have ever seen from KONAMI or PES series. Acceleration is ONE of THE most important attributes a player can have. How are we now to have a difference between a player who is FAST ( Walcott ) and between a player who just has a QUICK BURST OF PACE ( Iniesta ) ? We cant.. Really disapointing.. Also you guys can check how unrealistic NO ACCELERATION in the game is, try doing the RT+RB burst pace with someone who doesn't have good acceleration in real life but is just agile ( since explosive power seems to affect the burst pace ) like Xavi, he explodes with the ball forward really fast and explosive like he would NEVER EVER be able to do in real life.

*3* CPU difficulty /// it frustrates me because its so unrealistic at times. How it should be is that the better the difficulty the better the AI intelligence is, not their reactions and accuracy. For example a good top player difficulty after professional would be:
-an AI that knows how to pressure well and make you do mistakes
-hold the ball and build up play and outplay you after they get the ball
-with no overpowered dribbling skills from non skilled dribblers in game
The AI that is in PES in top player does this:
-the AI doesn't know how to pressure well and make you do mistakes
-the AI doesn't know how to properly hold the ball and build up play and outplay you
-the AI has overpowered dribblers all over the pitch even if they are some average technique players simply because the AI has perfect timing and angles and positioning every single time
As a result you can outplay the AI easily no matter what difficulty, their pressure is harder on higher difficulty but its not smart and effective at all. The AI also won't bother to outplay you because they will simply rush forward and try to dribble and get past your players since they are overpowered in this aspect. Now you can stop or limit them of course by double teaming and using the defensive system that pes uses but how realistic is that I ask you? Sure using 2 players on Messi might seem realistic but when you have to do that on every single player of every single club even the likes of Osasuna then thats just not realistic at all sorry. But the good thing is that most of these issues from point 3 will most likely be fixed aswell by jenkey or someone else in the future.

*4* Football life issues /// I didn't yet play throughout the mods extensively but I did play more than 1 season in each and there are still issues in the modes that we all hate and which KONAMI got feedback about and yet still they are not fixed. To be honest I don't even see why KONAMI would add another mode Club Boss, while the mode offers something different and is interesting no doubt I see no point adding new things if the existing things are still broken and have issues. The biggest issues still remain crazy transfers, so far I didn't see Messi to Granada or something like that yet but I did see a fair share of very doubtful transfers. Another issue is new players appearing in game way overpowered, 16 year olds with 96 overall, what the hell? The training and developement is changed aswell and while I applaud something different the system feels very weird, why would we lose stats in every other area like physical etc if we train speed? That makes no sense or realism. The club boss mode seems broken in development even more it seems, your players keep losing overall stat really fast, like 2-3 points in half a season and its every player even youngsters. I just hope they at least fixed the retired players appearing as young ones but to be honest I SERIOUSLY doubt it, like 99%. Overall im disappointed with the lack of effort KONAMI has shown in many areas that are easily fixable and that the community is frustrated with for years now, its not like they don't get feedback from us, it just seems they ignore it for the most part.

So overall I feel that the game is very fundamentaly sound and has great potential and most of these points will probably be fixed by several OF's and Patches made by the community and we will be able to really enjoy a great game, but im disapointed with so many obvious issues from which they are getting feedback for a long time now are still here and not fixed ( some by rushing the game, some by not really understanding some parts of football I guess idk what else to say ) and that KONAMI is so incompetent that we, the community have to fix all these frustrating things about the game. They should really put more effort into the game next year, first and foremost LISTEN to the community more and use our advice better and I don't even mind if they release it in december as long as its complete and polished.

Agree Mystery Man. It's this overwhelming degree of accuracy/CPU cheating that is now driving me up the wall and is the only reason why I'm considering playing FIFA until some of the brilliant community members can edit the shit of the game. I've tried editing tactics and it does bugger all, so it's over to the tech guys to individually trawl through the database to stop the CPU players all acting like Maradona and to try and pass the ball from time to time.

What do you mean by Toni has been in a strop? Do players come to you to voice their concerns? Similar to Football Manager.

Yeah certain players like to be played all the time, others come to you because they are surprised that you picked them.

Apparently if you upgrade last years option file, the stats are upgraded as it's rumoured they are.

If this is the case on day 1 of release I will have an option file that has already had 3 months worth of stat editing for the sole purpose of game play ready for the PS3.

It may well need tweaking to match the updated game play engine and if how shooting and dribbling have been changed behind the scenes, but this shouldn't take long.

If we can upgrade each year with stats intact, there is no reason that I cannot keep editing the game and progressively improving it each year.

I've only been playing MLO...and I think I'm getting somewhere (have not been over 500 since I started) only to go on massive losing runs...it does my nut. And it's not like the other player is really any good most the time, it's usually a stupid mistake I make or like last night the whole one more game syndrome when I really should have gone to bed as I was knackered. But kept losing, so I'd got back to 486 and have lost 4 on the bounce to drop under 450 I'm going to be in d5 I'm sure when I log back on.

I also think I finally played a cheat last night, I scored early and the game suddenly came up with transmission lost, and looked at the results and I lost 3-0.

Then I came up against a team with messi, arshavin, dimichelle, Pereia and other star names and predictably lost 4-0, the fella had 605 rating no generic players, so how could he afford messi let alone the others with them and renew contracts. Maybe I just haven't been playing it right I'm less Spurs more like Leyton Orient

have been playing for about 3 hours now....didnt play the demos....Pass Assist to ZERO, Cursor Semi-Assisted, Game Speed -2....STILL, something doesnt feel right...maybe it is just me and the fact that I have JUST started, but then again... I have played all PESs so far and I know THE FEELING when you start it but I am a bit worried now....
Also WTF is wrong with COLORS? they are washed out compared to 11...and the Game Speed is so fast, even at -2, compared to 11 again.
guys, please give me hope !!!

the game is good but it is a bit too fast, even for my liking who likes quick game pace.

It's not worth the 65$/40 pounds or whatever you have to pay. There are better games on the market tbh... And I am NOT referring to FIFA 12.

i have to say that i haven't had this much fun playing pes since pes2003 demo, nothing can beat the 1st time playing pes.

Yes, the passing can be 'assisted' (crossing seems fully assisted)but after sitting down and really analyzed the nuances of the game (and thanks to the tutorial videos of 'thepestutorials') i've grown to love the game and understand that this is a deep, tactical and fun game. I prefer this to the fifa style manual passing and shooting because with total manual passing we lose the individuality of the players like pirlo and xavi.

The tactics screen is just a godsend, its so easy to manually change formations and tactics (i have a feeling that fifa will eventually copy this). When i use barca, when my play clicks, i actually feel like controlling barca, ai team mates make runs, cuts and dummy runs on their own almost like in real life.

Im really impressed with the 'individuality', for the 1st time i feel like a god among men when using great players messi and ronaldo. And im also impressed by graphics and animations of the players, even on wide camera view there is no mistaking the likenesses of the players. Just played fifa the other day and i honestly cant clearly distinguish ambrosini from thiago silva with a similar camera view which is crazy!

Bottom line is im loving the game, the most satisfying and deepest pes i've played since pes2003 demo and if you all feel like the game is broken and hasnt improved that much i urge you to read and discover all the nuances of the game from the player index to the preset tactics, maybe it will help you enjoy and appreciate the game like i did. And also check out ThePesTutorial vids on youtube it helped me a lot. Peace!

I'm finding the goalkeepers really inconsistent. Last night I had a freekick that hit the wall and deflected the shot towards the other side of the goal yet somehow the goalkeeper despite shifting his weight moving the other direction saved it. In one movement he side stepped to his right and then dived to his left it was an impressive feat of physical impossibility. I've also seen players score diving headers from outside the penalty area that keepers ought to be saving yet somehow miss. Its frankly bizarre.

Thought it's no worth to create a new topic to say my opinion about the new penalty system.

Pes2011 penalties were better.
I think the new system was very innovative and rewarding, maybe then it was just too complicated for some stupidos.

But this Pes2012 penalty system is a step backwards and simplified. They're now back to the old Pes "lottery mode". Hit & hope.
