Hey guys

Is PES 2013 a good game? I have almost only played PES 6 regarding that series but i also tried the 2010 version, I believe it was, and i thouhgt i t wasn't too good. I love PES 6 thouhg, and just wanted to hear if the newest game is a good one.

PES 13 is much more detailed, better graphics, better physics. AI is still the cheater bastard, as well as in PES 6.

But a lot less fun in my eyes!

@Lazte - I would definitely recommend that you try a demo of PES 2013 first. It's definitely a game that has split PES fans down the middle. Lot's of people love it, lot's of people hate it.

PES 2011 was the last PES game I truly played. I bought PES 2012 but stopped playing it after a month or so, and played the demo of 2013 and hated it.

Though with it being so close to the end of the season, it may be best sticking with PES 6 until PES 2014 comes out.... though you can get PES 2013 fairly cheap nowadays.

Yes, I loved playing PES 6, before I broke my monitor screen...
It has great gameplay, the best ever in PES I think. But poor functionality, old graphics, crazy AI - it makes my choice clear.

I don't think the AI is as "crazy" in PES 6 as it is in PES 2013. They managed to hide the scripting a lot better back then!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I think i will try the demo out, but the only reason i'm thinking about moving on from PES 6 is that all the new option files seems to be broken when playing Master League? Aren't there any that works that are just somewhat new?

That's complete and utter bullshit. I think you're fooling yourself if you believe one is better than the other when it comes to the "cheating". Playing PES6 now will be just as revealing as playing PES13. Back when PES6 was new, the whole background cheating or whatever you want to call it wasn't as obvious because you had not experienced it in so many games before.

In my frustratin with PES12 I installed PES5 and PES6 to get the good old feeling back, they lasted less than a day on my computer because everything I hate about PES12 is very much present in PES5 and 6, especially the AI cheating. Add in that both PES5 and PES6 are inferior in every other way as well, and you have the obvious answer.

Dynamic difficulty ontop of ingame difficulty is just a mix bound to go bad, there is no way around it. Konami should pick one or the other and stick with it fully.

EDIT: Let's move this particular discussion to the dedicated thread so this thread remains about nesa24's tweak.

Christ. Do you have to be so aggressive all the time when you disagree with someone elses opinion? A simple "I disagree" will do, instead of calling someon's opinion "Complete and utter bullshit".

There hasn't been a more fun football game than PES 6. Only FIFA has come close. Sad but true. (In my opinion of course)

Fine, I disagree. They werent better to hide it back then, you were just not as good to spot it.

Happy?

PS. I'm not aggressive, it's more likely culture clash. When you want strongly to make a point in Norway, you use strong words. Anyway, we rarely take such things personal, there's no point in doing so.

Perhaps, but I've always been quite good at spotting it... very good in fact, if I do say so myself. Anyway, let's not turn this into another heated debate about scripting.

BTW, you mentioned going back to PES 5/6 after feeling frustrated with 2012. Feeling nostalgic about these games is great, but often it's best to leave things in the past. Sometimes, if you do go back to old games, your fond memories of them are ruined!

Latze - if you do try PES 2013 and don't like it, you should give PES 2011 a try. In my opinion it's much more accessible than PES 2013, and much more fun.

That one I do agree with, wholeheartedly.

EDIT: PES13 is a better game than any other and older PES versions. I see many people staying with their trusty old PES5 and 6's but in reality they probably never gave the new ones a fair chance. If they had, they wouldn't be able to enjoy the older games that lack 360 movement and other "new" inventions. I've said it before that PES5 and PES6 was better games when they came out than PES13 probably is, but that doesn't make PES13 a worse game than the old ones, if you know what I mean.

In most cases, new PES games are the exact same game as before but with a few additions. So if PES6 was great, PES7 is better unless they completely broke something and didn't fix it with patches.

I really like PES13. But I consider myself a good pes player and I get beat a lot by players who are pretty bad to be honest! I don't think it rewards skill too well.

I don't think I have played anyone other than Real or Barca online for a while though so maybe thats why!

In PES6 I was top 10 in rankings and had a 26 game win streak, the balance was better.

Inter Milan were the cheat team in 6 but not as much as Real or Barca in this one. I admit im not as good as I was then but seems a bit unbalanced to me.

I don't feel it's unbalanced tbh. I've completely domiated matches against Barcelona played by highly rated players when I use Spurs, for example. I do change strategies to counter the opposition when I use weaker teams though, otherwise that would be very hard to achieve.

That being said, I am not playing PES anymore, or at least not at the moment, so I haven't tested the newest patch (1.04), so if there are any changes there I wouldn't know about them.

konami lost that magic gameplay when they moved from ps2 to ps3 and they never got it back. the movement from ps3 to ps4 will be a chance to bring it back or the final failure. the game has ever since ps3 been broken, scripted and less fun then the old days. add stupid decision (like removing offline stats / league mode ...) and i know why i miss those fun days from pes6 when you had that complete controll and feeling you could do anything you want. nowadays defending, headers and that overall gameplay feeling are broken. maybe next year i will play fifa for the first time since 1997

Too late. PES wont be on PS4/One.

Thought I should mention that I booted up my PS2 yesterday and played a few games of PES6, with my old ML sides. Yes, it had its limitations... passes going in completely the wrong direction to what you pressed etc etc, but at least it had an excuse - it was last gen. With the increased capabilities of the current gen, and of course when the next gen PES games roll out, Konami can't have these excuses anymore.
All in all, I found my nostalgic return to PES6 to be fun! Which is something I cannot say of the last 2 versions of PES.

This is probably my biggest issue with PES these days.

They've taken out the fun and replaced it with chew off your own tongue levels of frustration and rage.

When a game stops being fun it stops being a game. It becomes a chore.

That's exactly what PES has turned into for me. Sure it can be peppered with moments of enjoyment but they are akin to finding a pound coin while shovelling horse shit.

The thing that made PES6 the best of the lot was the goals you could score, they felt measured. Then when the PS3/360 came out they broke everything pure and true to the series.

Game never fully recovered.
