The fake names are probably how the Japanese developers see western names, as a random assortment of vowels and consonants.

I'm really scared of this:

INTRODUCING THE NEW MASTER LEAGUE
"A good level of training will quickly see your players rise and who knows? Maybe the fans will even give your players nicknames!"

Konami's nicknames!!! nooooooooooooo

So the names will be like 'Smith' and 'Gonzalez', rather than 'SMYBO' and 'GUZJAIQJFJKFQ'?

Yes, you are right! For example, in the demo, not all Palmeiras players are licensed. Few unlicensed names in Palmeiras are for example L. Ribeiro, B. Aguiar, F. Menezes and C. Dias. At first, i thought these are real players, but then i wondered why is there no such players playing irl in palmeiras, and discovered that they are fake names, using some new naming system.

Probably, because I didn't really know about how Japanese people make out names like that.

But this edition's fake players naming system looks worse for other foreign names; like my country Indonesia, Thailand, South Africa, Singapore, and other countries. They use English surnames for those names.
Literally, I've seen Indonesian players has surnames like: Odowd, Redgrave, Rumblelow, Rendle, Mariner, etc and I thought to myself "Who the hell comes with this inaccurate surnames?"

I would suggest them to hire someone to make out more edible fake names.

Are you serious? You are whining because the fake (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) names are not correct? Where's the difference if the name is Mariner or Ching Chong, it still remains a fake name..

You should probably refrain from using names like "Ching Chong" in future, but he does have a fair point. It removes some "realism" from the experience when the fake players names don't sound correct. It's the same with Football Manager, I wouldn't expect to sign a Spanish player named Jimmy Potter, or a German player named Hidetoshi Nakamura.

Can someone that has the game tell us if they have finally made regens a part of the ML (like FIFA or any EA Sports game)? Or do you get the same lame pre-made youth players that are the same no matter what team you play with? By regens I mean unique, randomly generated players that come through the youth system and never reappear in another ML.

Well, those are fake names. But it's not quite right for some nationalities, because they use English surnames instead of foreign surnames.

That's what I'm trying to point. It removes "realism" in the game, because not only fake players has the unrealistic names but also real unlicensed players.
