PES is destroyed

well dont you think its funny that ever since HD has arrived, PES has been utter shite?

No, I think its people expectations are wildly overblown. As I keep having to say, its football there is very little that you can actually do to "innovate". I also believe that the number of people complaining have never really had a bad game before, or one that is truely broken.

PS: HD has been around for years, us PC gamers have been playing in HD for much longer than PS3/360. The funny thing is that on PC PES 09 is pretty good and has very very few issues. Online is a seperate matter from the game itself, which people always forget or ignore. Yes 08 was terrible online, but before that online with PES on PC was fine. Its only since online consoles have hit that most of the issues have arrisen. Many of these are down to the hardware, and software of the consoles and how they are implemented. The options for Konami are extremely limited in how they implement online, and can be extremely taxing to do. Not to mention the average console user does not have as much experience or technical knowhow as there PC counterpart in net based gaming and a vast number of problem reports can be attributed to that.

Then it comes to the games online code itself, which very few owners understand. Therefor it is extremely difficult for developers to understand what the problem really is as large numbers of the reports are either inaccurate, incorrect, overblown, nothing to do with the code, are the results of ISP restrictions, or flat out lies. Sifting through the mess is hard enough, and we have yet to add in the language barrier.

So in short, bitching about it wont help and whinging your face of does no good. If you have an issue that you can CATAGORICALLY prove is the game at fault then do not hesitate to report it directly to Konami in a calm and clear manner, describing exactly what the fault is and what if any methods you have tried to resolve it. Simply posting here "Its S**T and broken, Konami are A******S!" is useless, pointless and a waste of time and effort on your part.

(NOTE) not directed at you personaly jester, just using your post as a point to counter.

you may have a point although it's not hd's fault but more konami/seabass's for not adapting to it

i aint sayin its directly HDs fault, im just saying that console game publishers dont have the skills or ability to take full advantage of HD, or maybe the consoles arent powerful enuff meaning that BUGs are bound to happen. look at the PC for instance, because its so powerful HD can run fine, wear as a little console doesnt have the same specs. so tbh until konami and even EA find a way to make full use of the consoles power, BUGs are still gonna happen resulting in more people complaining about tiny issues.

There is very little that you can actually do to "innovate" a Football Sim??

Dude there is a LOT that can be done to Revolutionize the PES series, you'll get to see that in the next 5 years or so.

Other Sport games don't have much Potential, Tennis, Basketball, Baseball, etc, etc.. But Football Sims have incredible potential, I believe that it will become something of a Life Style in the Future.

Meaning that Football Sims will have so much Depth and Substance that it will be taken more seriously, Online leagues, Online Tournaments, New Stats and Special Abilities, Updating the 8 Directional Movement, New Concepts, etc, etc..

The Potential is there, I think PES09 and all the others PES versions are just examples of How good Football Sims CAN be.

Unfortunately, PES is still that highly Polished PS2 game that haves no Interest in Evolving.

I think there's a LONG way to go before we can start saying that "Football Sims have reached their Peak" or that "there is very little you can do to Innovate a Football Sim".

Its still going to be 22 men and a pigs bladder, nothing can change that. You cant suddenly add in things like "extra time multi-ball", is the point I am trying to convey.

And Ive heard some of the ideas bandied about and half of them are downright rediculous.

Whatever you say dude.. the Reality still is that NO it's not going to be the same 22 men running from one side to the other, it will be a completely Different Experience.

Living in a Cave -isn't- the same thing as Living in a proper House. It's called Evolution.

There will be Good Ideas and Bad Ideas, a New Engine will be necessary, and the same New Engine will come hand-in-hand with New Flaws.. But that's How Evolution works.

Konami must work on their Strengths, wich are Stats, Stats, and more Stats -and- of course, the 8 Directional Movements need to go. Only afterwards will Konami achieve Significant Progress.

But until then, we are just playing the same pre-heated soup, a highly polished PS2 game with seemingly no interest in evolving.

Bottom Line?? I think your Reasoning is quite Underwhelming, like a Square, it's time more Customers see the full picture here.

NO Football isn't just about 22 men running from one side to the other, it's more like Music, you could say it's just a bunch of Notes stringed together, but there is more to it.

people who moan about the shooting and the fact you cant score from 18 yards are obviously the people who liked pes 2008, shooting had to be changed and i love the fact it is harder to score from range(i think it should be harder) , i will say this again even though i am annoying myself, manual passing makes this game the sim it should be(apologies).

How is improving directional movement Evolution? The fundamentals of the game will always be the same, you can maybe include a new game mode or new tricks, but with SPORTS games they don't EVOLVE at all because the fundamentals do not change. Would you like Konami to put equipment on the footballers? Would you like them to have to kill each other on the field?

You talk about re-heated soup, yet none of you boneheaded losers realize that EA rehashes the same game every year for 3-4 years before they make any change. Small improvements is all EA ever does with any of their games unless they are huge titles like Battlefield and Madden. If you don't believe me go look at the NHL forums on EA's site, the fifa forums, the Need For Speed forums etc.

If you don't like the game, don't come to a site devoted to it and being bashing it. Btw, your 1st problem was buying a PS3, your second problem was thinking any game on a PS3 would be decent.

The PC version of PES2009 is fantastic, I have yet to see any of those so called "bugs" or glitches and have been playing BAL for 3 weeks and ML for 2 (after playing NHL09 i prefer BAL :) )

I agree SDP. The shooting is finally realistic and no longer the FIFA type of shooting.

I haven't scored a goal the same way more then 2 times in this game yet and have yet to score from 18+ yards. I have hit the target but it is a lot harder.

Ty for reminding me about manual passing, do you have to turn it on or just use the right thumb stick? Any tips?

there are different types of manual passing, you can select the option where you just move the stick to pass but i use the option where have press down the stick whilst moving it in the desired direction, some of stuff you can do is unbelievable mate, go to controller settings and mess around with waht suits you

The Fundamentals are the same, that doesn't means it cannot Evolve.

The Fundamentals of a Cave and a proper House are the same, you live under One Roof. However there is a very Significant Difference between living in a Cave -and- Living in a House.

It is simple evolution, that's WHY there was a PS1, then came the PS2, and now we have the PS3.

And when I mean Fundamentals I'm talking about Stats and Special Abilities, we need more Differences between players in order to cover more Fundamental Aspects of Football.

Because Football is a Collective Game, and in order to turn the PES series into a more Realistic Simulation of Football, the game needs more Stats to distinguish a Defender from an Attacker.

So basically, more Stats mean that the Fundamentals will change. I really don't know from where you get the Idea that the Fundamentals will always be the same.

Guess what? The Fundamentals of the Football Sim will change in the coming years, I can guarantee you that.

I couldn't care less about New Modes and other worthless additions, those are just marketing Tools, completely Irrelevant to the actual Gameplay of the game.

And dude, Why do you even mention EA Sports?? Yes I know FIFA is also the same pre-heated soup.. but then again, I never questioned that.

And lastly, I cannot argue with such a "Closed-Minded" guy like you simply because I'm just wasting my Time, you already have your Mind made up. So whatever you say, the Fundamentals cannot change, the game cannot Evolve, we cannot Complain about the Lack of Progress, etc, etc..

Remember kid, this isn't Basketball, Golf, Baseball, or Tennis.. This is Football and the Potential is huge.

I'm not saying PES09 isn't a good Football Sim, But I hope you can understand WHY I feel Underwhelmed by the Lack of real Progress. PES09 essentially is a highly polished PS2 game with seemingly no interest in evolving.

Bottom Line?? It is because of Customers like you that Konami can afford to be so Lazy with the Development of the series. They can basically do whatever they want and you would still buy the same pre-heated soup every year.

Good Luck with that.

Pes 09 is the best pes game to date, but it's my opinion.
About bugs: I never experienced any so far (360 version) but I did with pes 6 and pes 2008 especially. I think some bugs on pes 09 happens because of a slow PC.

I've been hearing the same thing from a few members, I hope I can share the same opinion once I know PES09.

But I'm just saying, Konami should Update their Stats and Special Abilities -and- the 8 Directional Movement -for- PES 2010. Just Constructive Criticism, most of us know it can be much better even if it is already good.

It seems the only one of those that takes place in the actual game is the Gerrard red card (lolz) The rest are in the demo. The last one is a possibility, but the rest are shocking, I agree. Not sure if they're issues that were carried into the full game or not though.

It's worth pointing out that EVERY game released will have issues to begin with. Konami/EA are not obliged to patch these things, but they do.
