PES4 Goalkeepers

I have to say, after about 8 hours of play I think the keepers are, if anything, better in PES4. The number of point blank shots they save amazes me. Having said that, I'm not quite used to the slower shooting power bar, so maybe that's the reason. My only gripes are the running animation, which looks too fast when turning, the lack of striped/hooped shirts in edit, the dumbass kits/balls with hearts on (wtf?) and having to edit yet again. I haven't decided if I prefer this or PES3, but if I recall it's always taken me a few days to get used to a new version, so I'm sure I'll prefer PES4 soon enough.


I'm also waiting for the PC version though.

I pretty much agree with that view.

I've mostly found that keepers have improved in one on one situations. I've even seen Buffon spread his body into the star shape on his knees as I shot to block it with his right hand which looked spectactular. The keepers do have a new "don't dive as much" approach but sometimes this looks correct because quite often they don't dive when a defender or striker is stood infront of them, so maybe Konami have a hidden view statistic for the goalkeepers?

Either way i love the new game, all this negativity and nobody mentions the new injury thing where players go off for treatment, the awesome new advantage played rule which really does work well and so on.

Everyone hated PES3 when it first came out and surprise surprise they hate it again now it's PES4. In about 3 months time I bet people will wonder why they even doubted the game because they will be used to it and find the new style alot better.

the keepers in pes4 are worst than we 8.but then again we8 is a better game than pro4...one from the many bugs the game has (we8 has the same bug too) is when u choose the second strip for a team the keeper in the game always wears his first strip...i changed a lot of teams and always played with away strips but the goalkeeper always had his first strip in the match... lpro evo in 50 hz sucks...too fast and missing lot of animations from we8....shame

The keepers couldn't be too much better. Ok sometimes they could dive but mostly they don't if it's just going top corner or takes an awkward bounce in. Overall, it just makes the game more realistic in my opinion.

I think the keepers are better on PES4 that i've seen so far. One question for the people that say the keeper has stood still on so many occasions already..what star are u playin on? that could obviously have an effect rather than it being a type of bug like the handballs on pro 3

Actually the keepers have improved in PES4 making a better game...
I dunno why so many people crying cos the stand stil against an unreachable shot...
I think that makes sense...or u will feel better to see how the keeper does the clown going useless to a "letal shot"??

So you will watch some best keepers like Khan, Toldo, Buffon Cañizares,Casilla and so FCuking on standing STIL just looking the ball go into goal....cos they cant do nothing bout it but look...

pd:btw in like 10 games i could only saw these...stand stil thing only twice...on the rest of GK's actions, they blocked quite hard shots...so just improve your game instead of asking Konami to make the game easier for ya.

for those GK cryiers...
if u want to see full action keepers...just go play indoor soccer where the goals are 3x2 meters. while in football they are 7'3x2'1 meters aprox.....and a keeper of 2 meters and with high agility wouldnt reach more than 2'5 meters in just one second...
and the average of a 20 mtrs shot is 22'2 meters per second...

Just do some math guys....and you will perfectly understand the real deal..the pure football, the best...the new and roxking PES4!!!

the keepers are poor in some aspects...i shot and the keeper stood there...i shot from 40 yards!!! he stood there and watched the ball it the post....dive u stupid tit....konami have made the keeper do that to make the game more cool..but it gets past a joke.....keepers are hard to beat on one and one situations though...fair enough i understand if sometimes if the keeper dow dive....but most times it is saft

The keepers in PES4 are unreliable, they’re all unbelievably inconsistent.

One on one, with time and space, I can score easily. Just add a tad bit of pressure (and I mean the slightest) and I find it impossible to score. They tend to make too many point blank saves, even when I’m blasting the ball towards goal from 10 yards out (and I’m talking about good shots too, ones which are low and wide and ones which are heading the in the top corner).

Then, when it comes to long range efforts, they often save it easily. However, occasionally, they just watch the ball go past them. If it is a good powerful shot, then I can understand them doing that, but standing and gazing sideways (silly static shits!), when letting weak attempts, with the ball bouncing a couple of times stroll past them is pretty pathetic.

I find the goalkeepers very irritating, seriously.

Hi lads,

Was just wondering if any of ye had the same problem with the Keepers in PES4, had my first few games last night with Dundons and some of the worst shots I took were going straight in it was like the keeper was retarded or something as he was making no effort at all to get the ball.
He was using Arsenal and Lehmann so does anyone know whats up with that.

I respect your opinion but, keepers rox n pes4, i find em more realistic now, even though they get great blocks and once again standing looking the ball= shot accuracy+speed+distance/keeper skills+keeper reaction+keeper agility

I hope you understand this and what is more important to make a bit of math and phisics , so you will see the diference beetwen a real keeper and a "machine" one .

pd: pes4 more real than ever, didnt ya all notice that besides keepers stay "frozen" also the rest of fielders do the same????
This is what it rox now, 100% alert time is not posible now just like in real life... one sec looking away and..."where is the ball?"

People only focus on keepers but it also happens to the rest of the players since now pes4 passing and battlkefielding is more "real" and come out many improvisationmg and surprising actions.

ok guys i hope you learn from this and enjoy pes4 cos its the best game ever and the closest virtual thing done ever to football. ^^

I think they are very poor at times, I've seen a 1mph shot trickle over the line with the keeper casually standing there. But most of the time they make great saves.

Once the keeper went to kick it, but as he was running, a striker came and closed him down and then they both ran away from the ball. No player could run within 10 yards of the ball. The computer thought it was a goal kick still. I just made a sub and it went away.

I'm a keeper myself,and you lot are so daft...ofcourse you don't dive at times.If a shot is narrowly wide and out of your range sometimes you won't dive.....stop bitching,goalies are 100% better....if I was just about to buy the game I'd be shitting myself because you lot make the goalies sound worse than PES3 ,when they are near perfect.

i think its a little annoying. A nice addittion for perhaps really powerful shots where the keeper knows he has no ca=hance of reaching it, but i find it a little dissappointing when i hit an avergely paced shot that just goes in the corner. I wanna see the keeper scrambling for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! makes the goal so much better. At the end of the i think the Pes series is all about realism, and this, i dont think, is realistic. How often in a real game of football do you see this happen! Thats how it should be judged, on weather it happens in real life. Aside from this, the game is amazing. I still love it
