I gotta say, I think the keepers in PES4 are the best yet. My first ever goal was scored with the keeper not moving and I feared the worst, but since then I've seen the most stunning reaction saves. Only yesterday I had a free kick taken by Veron for Inter. I hit it perfectly and it was going for the top corner (over the wall) and the keeper managed to get across and tip it just over. PES3 never had that.

My theory is, its a new feature to add some realism. It's perhaps over-done (like handballs and offside in PES3) but it's forgiveable. The mechanic being the keeper 'thinks' he won't reach it / it's not going in / keeper was unsighted.

Okay! I've been playing both PES4 and WE8 for a while now and to me it seems like the goalies in WE8 are diving for balls much more than they do in PES4.
Can somebody comfirm this? Could it have something to do with the gameplay speed? The gameplay is faster in PES4 than in WE8 and I do see the keepers in WE8 just looking at the ball going by too but it's more rare than in PES4.
I've been playing WE8 on 6stars and PES4 on 5 maybe that's what is making the difference to me. I'll check it out tomorrow.

100% agree dude.
Thats the spirit.^^

im not saying it aint realistic when the keeper dont dive and sometimes i can hold my hands up and say, fair enough...u shoudnt of dived for that....but most shots are really average paced and the keeper just watches the ball...most keepers in the real life attempt to save the ball from going in the net..but on pro 4 they dont even bother....i thought id scored a great goal..smashed it and the keeper just stood there..on the replay i found he should of saved it... :( apart from all the moaning about the keepers...the game is still superb....now if only someone can tell me how to the friggin ronaldinho skill!

Yesterday, I was playing an exhibition game with Birmingham against Southampton. Midway through the match, I crossed the ball in from the right and scored with the utmost ease. Niemi, the Saints goalkeeper, believe it or not, was actually facing his own goal when I scored with the header. He then turned around and started clapping (you know how goalies do at their defence) acting like if nothing grave had happened and that he had parried the ball out for a corner or something. I couldn’t stop laughing because I was playing against a mate and it happened to him, but, in reality, the keeper should’ve saved that effortlessly. It was a simple one to deal with.

it depends on keeper skills, anyways dont hesitate much cos when you get to know the defense system and how it wokrs, it will happen to you less, much less than in the first games, therefore i dont remmeber when was the last time a keeper stand up in front of a shot, and i play everyday a lot ...:S

I think the keeper does it too often. Even good keepers do it many times. I've scored at least two goals, with the ball going near the keeper and he didn't move a finger. It would be a good addition if that happened only when the ball was kicked too far from the goal or when it's ball from a free kick, directly to the top corner of the goal...
Pardon my english...

Ah yes,

amazing game, what an AMAZING game :D cant get over how good it is to be honest :)

I had an instance when I was Deportivo La Coruna I scored a nice goal from outside the box by Munitis against Real Madrid, Iker Casillas had about 3/4 people blocking his view and when I had my shot you just saw him look at the ball and move to get it but realised he hadnt a chance and stopped.. if that is coded then OMG :) amazing how they can get their view blocked like that!

Theres a way of scoring easy free kicks, when your just outside the 18yard box. Point the ball towards the goal keepers side and with the right power it should go in.

Keepers standing still is fine when its going miles over or if its powerful or completely beats the keeper, but when its a peeroller that hits the post and the keeper stands and watches, it's just stupid. Also when the ball is going wide the keeper should just go over to make sure instead of standing still.

I was once Barca in an Exhibition aand shot a free kick from 33 yrds against Real Madrid. Casillas just let it sail by him and off the post! Then he stood still for the rebound and I scored! This needs to be fixed!

Yeah it happens quite a lot. A couple days ago was playing a mate on LIVE. he took a tame shot with Vieri which went in, just trickled in with the keeper motionless like a spectator. And so many other times the keeper would just stand and watch a shot hit the post. Or nodding a backpass, slightly off centre but still he doesnt come to gather it. Very annoying.

Basically, if the ball is going wide or going to hit the post (be it going in-off or scraping it and going wide) the keeper won't move. That's all good except when the ball has been mis-hit and is dribbling ridiculously slowly to the far post as the keeper stands and watches it rebound off the post so the attacker can run in and smash it into the back of the net (as happened to me, wasn't impressed)

Man, I remember I tried to save a powerful shot once, and badly sprained my wrist. I guess some keepers are a bit too sensible.
