Those through-balls are thoroughly fucked up :S

You could call that realistic too, though.

I'll tell you now, pro evo 5 is a BIG BIG LET DOWN! Nothing has been improved, and if anything, things have got worse. Example - no crowd, rubbish pathetic crowd and commentry noise, slow annoying gameplay, exactly the same lame looking graphic for the stadium (why is there always those stupid big red white and blue rosettes at the sidelines?). It's just a total let down for true pro evo fans!

:(

For me, the game's a big let down. I've played about 10-15 games now, and in general don't do too badly, but I'm constantly frustrated by it.

My main gripes are:
I have yet to see the opposition get a yellow card, and they don't always get pulled up for what appear to be fouls.
Secondly, player control is a lot slower than before, it takes Brazilians an age to turn on the ball (if this means having to change technique, fine, but i don't see it as being very realistic!).
Also, I always get chased down by the opposition, as you seem to be slower on the ball, which i agree is realistic, but the computer always seems to be faster with the ball, is this another technique thing I need to learn?
I appreciate that you can't drift past players as you could before, but not being able to dribble at all is a big loss :(
Passing is different, which I'm undecided on, I imagine it could be better once I get used to it. I have managed to score some really good goals, so there is a silver lining, but it doesn't make up for that big black cloud! My housemates are getting tired of my bad language, so i'm gonna give up trying now unless someone can explain why my complaints are wrong! Am I just missing something? Pressing the wrong buttons?!?

yeah the golkeeper improve a lot.
more realistic
Sometimes when you score a goal you can see the golkeeper scold the opponent defender.
so funny

patch, you might like it in time as you adjust the style of play needed.

The comp doesn't often get yellows for me, but sometimes they do. Maldini(!!) once was sent off for two yellows against me.

I find dribbling a bit useful, but more realistically useful than on PES4, which was far too easy. It takes a while to adjust.

Like all next-generation PES games I've played, I didn't like it at first, but finally came to it after a while. I had PES4 for months before I preferred it over WE7.

I remember someone had posted a few days ago that they thought that players who have a high speed rating (Henry, Owen etc) don't seem as fast as they should and I 100% agree with them. The computer's centre backs seem to be just as fast as them. It feels like they are pulling me back or something. Could it be that they are pulling the shirt?. I dont think its that because I would have noticed in the replays but Henry etc should be bombing by them, not struggling to out-pace them :(

EDIT - Also I have found the Situation training thing really handy in getting to terms with the new game play of PES5. The R2 button when recieving a pass with you back to goal is making me score alot more :)

What are u guys talking about pace of fast players?
I had Robinho last night in a Real Madrid game against Monaco on 6* and he was lethal from the left side.
Everytime he got the ball he outpaced Monaco defenders by a mile.
Result: 2 assists to Ronaldo :)

Is it just me or is it really hard to score more than 2 goals in master league. I played with Arsenal against Chelsea on 4 star 9just to try it out) and scored a hatrick with Henry one of the goals being a brilliant half volley into the bottom right hand corner swerving away from Cech. Then when i tried master league mode with Arsenal on 5 star i only one a few games out of 8 and many draws. lots coming from very late goals coming out of nowhere. Has anyone else experienced this?

On the night it came out, i was useless at it and really hated it. I found that there were too many fouls, it was really hard to create chances against the computer let alone score. I was getting seriously frustrated. But having played it since i've grown used to it. Yes i'm still struggling to make any thro' ball, but i'm enjoying the game more for its realism.

-Crosses have been improved. No longer do I get frustrated after working a great opportunity to get my winger in acres of space only to be disappointed time and time again by his final ball. Crosses on PES5 are far more accurate, far quicker, and they don't hang in the air like they used to on PES4.

I'm finding the crossing a bit buggered up compared to PES4. Specially the type 2 double tap near cross- if I double press the cross is just same as the normal cross and If I tripple press then the cross is the low grounder type.

It seems to me that either the type 2 cross just doesn't make any noticeable difference to the normal cross, with seems unlikey as in PES4 the type of cross you played had a real effect on the trajectory and lengh of the cross, OR, the type 2 cross doesn't actually work

i also read someone saying the fast players are caught up by slow defenders.
That defo is not the case for me!
That was one of my main gripes of PES4 if henry was behind a slow defender they would catch up but they dont on PES5 ive found as its more realistic.

I lover the game. The terry type last ditch tackle, the powerful clearing headers by the centre backs, the over arm keeper throws, the flip flap thingy, the fair player thingy when a player is injured u kick the ball out they kick it back, thats class all adds to an already superb game.

I hate the empty stadium bug, constant stoppages for needley free kicks, and only arsenal and chelsea licensed in the prem. thats a joke!!!

Exactly this.
Especially if u keep tapping the directional button the way ur running then there is no chance that a slower defender will catch up on you.
No way at all!
On a side note I don't think that scoring is too hard especially with the better sides.
I started an ML on 10mins 6* with Real Madrid a few days ago and so far I have 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss!
First game I lost to Villareal 2-1, second game I drawed Depor 0-0 and then won against Atletico Madrid, Espanyol and Monaco with 3-1, 2-1 and 3-0!
So the scorelines I would say are pretty realistic.
Like this game so much! :)

I found this at the start i had 3 draws in a row, but now i am getting used to the style of play i have started winning and it is great won 4 - 0 in the cup and am now winning every game (almost!) you will get used to it,just give it time.

I have to tell you, PES5 has been probably the first PES game in a long time that didn't make me go and buy it instantly.

Instead i waited for it over a weekend and then decided to get it... Why, you ask? Well probably the screenshots and features seemed too similar to PES4, a game that i've been playing for a full year now (and absolutely worship btw).

But then i got home with my new PES5, loaded the option file via xport and started the game... And my god it's good.

It was literally like they've fixed all the little things that were "wrong" with PES4. Things that i didn't think that were wrong until i played PES5! The game is just so much more lifelike now, up from the ball physics right down to the team behaviour. No more solo crap with Owen inside the box, this time you actually have to build the opportunities like in real footie. Challenges between players are extremely exciting now and really capture that essence of reality... And to see those cannon shots when keepers fly on their arses. I nearly cried tears of joy!

Outrageously good. Konami we're not worthy :)

They've fixed the long passing system from #4 which really used to piss me off - many a time i'd be aiming a long pass upfield only for my player to inexplicably twat it back to the 'keeper.

Now the long passing is an absolute dream, i love it. In fact i'd say the much-improved AI of your opponents obliges you to incorporate long passing into your strategy, whereas in previous PES incarnations you could get away with short passes only.

Also the weight and physics of the ball feel spot on. I personally found it hard to score with long range shots in #4, not impossible but far easier to send wingers to the byeline and cut it back. I've already scored some cracking goals and am certain that, as my skill improves, i will score some unbelievable goals. The animation of players taking shots is fantastic and makes the replays worth watching.

The only gripe i have is that they've kept that ridiculous stripy pitch from #4 which makes seeing the ball an eye-watering affair. I usually quit the match and restart if i get that pitch.
