Lets face it, Xbox reviewers aint got much to crow about have they.
They are too busy playing Halo(good game) and spend 5 mins with pe5 trying to score. They dont or cant score so they pick up Fifao6 score in 10 seconds of playin it and thats why they rate fifa better. Coz they cant be arssed to master a quality game so they look for the easy option.

I usually get refer to an average score by looking at metacritic.com. There are already 2 reviews there but score is still pending.
But don't get your hopes up for good scores, this game might score lower than PES4.

Although to be fair its a much better game overall than PES4. I already have it, and have been playing it for two weeks now. On some points I tend to agree with the comments in XBM too.

Maybe i'll go beack to playing WE9, since there are some issues with PES5 that I personally don't like.

Cheers

Yeah, WE8:LE really rocks. IMO the most balanced game in the series so far.

FYI, WE9/PES5 is quite good too. Loads of new animations, new inside foot shooting with R2, new special attributes 'middle shoot'. Improved(?) long range shooting. Licenses for Chelsea/Arsenal and few other Euro clubs sides. Better use of 1st touch controls.

Personally, between the two ,I'd favour WE9 as the ball/players seem to have more weight to them compared to PES5. Oh yeah, in WE9 defences were too packed/deep. Tweaked for the better in PES5.
PES5 more pacier then WE9 although its not as bad as PES4.

Check out the Korean version of WE9, should be out there.

Personally the only thing I think you'd really miss from WE8:LE is the tweaked 1st touch, inside foot shooting. If this could be added to WE8:LE wow, that game would really be da bomb.

Cheers.

I accept that most Xbox owners are just geeks with no life outside playing online death matches but is there actually any substance to the comments in the XBM magazine?

Does the slower pace of the game mean that really fast players like Henry have less of an advantage in the game than in real life? Do the AI defences just retreat into their penalty area? In real life some teams like to press high up the field and defend agressively which can leave them vunerable to pacy counter-attacks. If the comments in the mag are true then this won't happen in Pes5. A harder game doesn't neccasarily mean a more realistic game

One slight improvement I have notived in fifa 2006 compared to previous fifa games is that if the computer controlled team is a goal down in the 2nd half they will push right up looking for a goal and you can sometines score breakaway goals in the this situation. It just brings a bit more variation to the play. Before I start getting abuse, I am not for one moment saying Fifa is better than PES, I'm just making an observation.

Pro evolution is just trying to produce a game which feels like the real thing, obvisoly players dont go like the clappers for 90 mins its a slower pace knocking the ball around finding space looking for that chance if u love football and aprectiate it u will love PES5 fifa are trying to get more like real football but its still arcardie for me and some people prefer this than being patient and playing at a slower pace! for me and many people its 10/10 best football game ever think sometimes people forget its a football game and it has its limitations compared to summit like halo so in its own video game world its the best around, keep games like halo etc to a seperate catogorie!!

i remember last year there was a few realy dodgey reviews for pes4 but it still turned out to be the greatest game ever made.if anyone is unsure about getting the game then look at what people have said on this forum, all the comments have been positive.it seems the guy who reviewed the game doesn't like a challenge he moans about the AI defence being to deep and it being impossible to score or something like that, then go off and play fifa you cock.that is the joy of the pes series that you have to carve your own chances out and work hard for goals which is the case as in real football.initially it can be frustrating when it is difficult to score but the game will last longer and be more rewarding.for some reason these reviews have just made me want the game more.

On the topic of the defensive line just running backwards to their own goal line, don't they realise that this does sort of happen in real life, if a player runs at a defence, they track back to some extent. Obviously to get around this we have to pass it around the defence, drawing out theres and then exploiting the gaps from there. Seems to me even though the reviewer says he is a PES fan, he just doesn't know how to tactically beat a team.

From the review-
"Of these two crimes against gaming, the AI is by far the most serious. Defenders now seem prepared to simply track back as far as possible when the opposition have the ball, and don't even think about holding a cohesive line. As such, breaking teams down and engineering clear-cut chances is far too difficult. "

Awww Mr Poor Reviewer...
are the defenders making it difficult? Poor you! How dare they act in an intelligent manner which makes scoring difficult!

"Pro Evo 5 also suffers through minimizing the effect of pace. Fast players seem to lose a yard of pace when they have possession, leaving players like Alan Stubbs able to catch those like Thierry Henry"

I agree with that. Its stupid really. Henry outpaces layers in real life but cant do it in the game.

Only views that count are our own. I know its gonna be a big improvement so i dont need a mag to tell me how good a game it actually is. C,mon friday...my patience is low.

lmao at one of these reviews

" such, breaking teams down and engineering clear-cut chances is far too difficult "

awwww the reviewers found it hard

another quote

" Defenders now seem prepared to simply track back as far as possible when the opposition have the ball, and don't even think about holding a cohesive line "

^ what game is this guy playing ..how many times do you get caught offside in that game like 70% of the time

another

" The 'ever-moving' defensive line also means that through balls are a rarity - as the gap just isn't there to exploit in the first place. "

lol these guys must have really found it hard... run to fifa young ones

But i see were the reviewers are comming from the game hasn't evolved enough.. to say each pro that came out has smashed the last one back and pro 5 is better than pro 4 but not in comparsion to the one released before it
etc pro5 is better than pro 4... but pro 4 is amazing compared to pro 3

damm i still love th game tho

I think we're being a bit harsh guys. Many of you have said that this game took you a while, and once it 'clicked' then you started to enjoy it (thats what happened with me).

Well consider how long these guys have to play the game, and how many games they play a day. Chances they are haven't had as long to get to grips with it as we have - I wonder how many play games as well in their leisure time.

So ignore their opinions and make your own!

Absolutely wrong. I have dribbled my way to goal with Henry, Rooney etc. You should know when you have the space and time for making the run. Even in real life, Henry needs to get the ball at the right time and place to make a good run. If you get enough practice then you would find this as a perfect game. I'm sure you dont want 8-0 scorelines.

I agree with you i seem to be able to get away from defenders with quick players
