Pros:
-Better/more realistic tempo
-Better passing, a bit harder
-Harder/more realistic dribbling
-No goalkeeper bugs (so far)

Cons:
-Pascal Cygan has too low stats

As an overall PES5 is PES4 with a new gameplay, no new graphics. With FIFA it's usually the opposite: same old crap gameplay, and only updated the graphics (which are brilliant though).

No, Pascal Cygan IS crap.

Pros - Some fantastic new animation detail, more flowing passing movements, better shooting, overall more exciting matches and everything seems to have be tweaked to make it better.

Cons - If the line-ups on the demo are anything to go by the game will already be well out of date, but we're all used to that by now anyway. Other than that, none.

Pro's - Game has improved, shooting from distance rules, harder, more realistic passes, etc etc..

Con's - Long shots are maybe a little too easy now, sometimes every time you touch the opponent is a foul, still those damn PS2-controls show up in the PC-version

yeah that's right...

and can someone help me with this: shot gauge is strage to me: sometimes is is fullfilled and the ball goes slowly and very low.. and sometimes the gauge is 1/4 filled and the balls goes very very high, I cant figure out howto shoot properly... in pes4 i didnt have such problems.

BUT of corse pes5 rulez :) its better than pes4 and i love it !
:D

Its sometime harder to make chances too, defences are better organized. True that that ref does give for little fouls but the game, overall, is excellent.

I think it depends on the player. Playing with Madrid I noticed difference when dashing at full speed and then shooting. Owen hardly ever gets a high shot, while a player like Ronaldo or Zidane hardly ever shoots it low. I guess it adds to the realism, having big differences between players. Kind of hard to get used to though (but that's fun)...
Conclusion for you czasz, you gotta find out a proper method for every player I'm afraid...

Some pros...

Thru balls and passing in general have been greatly improved.
Player animations are stunning.
Untucked shirts add a lot to the games realism.
New and improved ball physics just when i thought they couldnt get better.
Keepers animations are perfect now.
Improved tackling.
Improved defense and attack. Defenders spread out well and attackers dash forward more often. Sometimes when you take a shot with one striker the other one will run up to the goal and try to get the ball on the rebound.

Its harder to get a perfect sliding tackle in. And i think the pitch can have a bobble on it, given the conditions...

+ Better shooting animations & shooting speed
+ Attackers now actually try to shoot with the ball mid-air when not in range for a
volley
+ Keepers are smarter

- long through balls really are laughably strong when they really shouldnt, resulting to a direct pass to the opposition's keeper.
- fouls & yet some more fouls.

Thats true. But so are they in real life. The same goes for thru balls, they are not always perfect in reality.

yes, but video games are supposed to take the fun aspects of a sport and translate them with moderate realism. A straight translation of football to video game form would be boring as hell, and at that point you might as well just go play it outside.

also:

whats the deal with the players' speeds? If I beat a defender, I dont want him catching up to me in 2 dribbles, especially if its Henry or Owens

I think the point is that we control people that play in real life and teams that exist in real life so the closer to that they look to the real thing the more enjoyable the game
experience is going to be. If what you want to do is play a game with crazy tricks, surreal moves and perfect passing then you'll probably like FIFA Street.

I agree with muad'dib, that in real life not everything is perfect, including through balls. But the case in PES5 demo is that they never are good enough, if it was just a matter of perfection i wouldnt even bring it up. No real player would try to make such through balls even in his worst day.

Make an experiment. Play PES4 and then PES5 for 20 mins each and try to make as many long air through balls aiming to create a player versus keeper situation with both of them. The results will speak the truth. In PES5 players just seem to don't know how to make a proper long through one.

I seriously hope they fix that thing by the release, cause I just love pro evo.

edit : for an example, if i am running on the counter attack and some meters past the middle of the field, and one of my attackers ahead of me with the nearest defender being clearly unable to catch him, and i pass the ball through and in the air, I expect the player to actually pass it properly, and not aim for the other team's goal keeper. The later case being the rule, I can't help but wonder why, more so considering players like e.g. zidanne could easily make much harder passes work.
