I'm a fan of PES, and I play FIFA as well.
Normally I have no bias either way.
This year I'm happier with FIFA07 (PC) than PES6 (PC).
While EA has had a long way to improve their game, and every year they've tried. Meanwhile PES, the better of the two, relied on better controls and more realistic gameplay to stay dominant.
This year PES has taken a step back. For some reason they have messed with the control scheme. I don't have any idea why, considering that was one of the best features, so much so EA completely ripped it off!
Also, the graphics haven't gotten any better.
I expected at least a few changes there.
I still like PES better for "feel" when it comes to shooting an dribbling.

There seems to be a point missed here, it is considered the best Football game out, and every year it gets praised beyond belief, so to slate Konami for not making changes to what has been called a perfect rendition of football in gaming terms, come on guys. Expect changes yes, but why ruin a winning formula by making too many changes, thats what Konami are thinking anyway. As for the PS3, i wont be buying one anytime soon, not since Sony proved what arseholes they were, putting Lik-sang outta business by suing them rotten. The best Importer of games, consoles etc and Sony sue them Claiming that importing PSP's, PS2's and PS3's was illegal even though it isn't as they pay a fee to customs. Microsoft, Nintendo, did they sue them for importing goods... NO, but Sony did, put them outta business which only helps in further soiling Sony's already suspect reputation.

This is my opinion:

I'm a PC gamer, I was ALWAYS playing FIFA but I've learn about PES from PS users... and since I've play PES, I NEVER STOP! I'm spending 4-5 hour per day playing PC football (and 1... in "real life"! Hehehe...), since... FIFA 95.

Now... about "07" versions of both of them...
Both having "+/-"...

Lets talk about FIFA 07 first...
FIFA 07 trying every year to be better and compare/"HIT" the "opponent" PES. This FIFA version, has a VERY injoyable "Manager Season Mode" (like ALL "E.A." games), which is a nice "combination" of "Football Manager" and a soccer game! I LOVE that FIFA07's feature...
The FIFA07's GAMEPLAY & DIFFICULTY is... for kids. Funny to play with, but... for kids! If you WATCHING CAREFULLY the PC's players movements, you will soon EASILLY find out what's the PROPER possition that you must move YOUR player, STEEL the ball "nice+easy", proseed to the attack (ALSO nice+easy) and... if you have a great player like STEVE GERRARD (I'm playing with "LFC" club - of course!)... you shooting the ball and the keeper NEVER understanding WHEN he gets the goal!...
The SOUND in FIFA07, is great! I LOVE to be in the main "Manager Season Mode" screen, and listening... "Liverpooooool!" & other tunes from REAL "LFC's" audios!... In game, SOUND is still nice...
The LISENCE issue in FIFA07... WHAT CAN ANYONE say about that??? You can play with ALMOST ANY club/team you like, with the RIGHT rosters and kits/badges/logos... PERFECT!
The GRAPHICS' issue in FIFA07... Well, I think I'm playing the VERY SAME game, since... 2002! The players' 3D models (EVEN in the VERY HIGH resolution - I own a PERFECT system, last generation "state of art")... are REALLY "poor"! The team kits/logos are in LOW resolution! The pitch is an "OLD TIME CLASSIC" graphic-resualt, NOTHING to telling you that this is a 2007 GAME DEVELOPING! The fans (growd) IT IS a 3D model-block, but NOTHING spacial indeed... The nets, STILL looking "strange"...
Generally... FIFA07 is a funny, ARCADE, kids' game! I DIDN'T remove it from my PC, 'couse I LOVE the "Manager Season Mode"!

Now... PES6!
The GAMEPLAY of PES6... By FAR MORE realistic of FIFA, with GREAT "A.I" of PC's players (they KEEP doing SEVERAL DIFFERENT moves and you CAN'T figure out what the hell is going to do!), LOTS of different moves to make, better (I think) "long pass reseaving" chances to score, a BIT EASY to play in "Regular" mode (I think is the *** mode, of the PES5), a BIT EASY to score from distance (with STEVE-lad, naturally! "Reds" kicking ass from distance in PES6!), a VERY SENSITIVE "shooting" button (you must... TOUCHING it like your... girlfriend's "kitty"!!!) because you'll send the ball to... Mars! Steeling in PES6 is a DIFFICULT thing, but FAST-PASSING isn't so! The "long-crossing" pass is FAR BETTER now, the "free-kicks" too... LOTS of new animations have been add on the players and gives you the exprassion of... WATCHING a REAL game (I was playing using a projector screen and my wife thought... I bought "NOVA" satelite system and watching "Premiership")!... My opinion, PES6 is the BEST football SIMULATOR in market!...
The SOUND issue in PES6... The sound is very nice indeed, but... COMPARING with FIFA's,... FIFA has LISENCE from any club and is using ORIGINAL sounds! So, in PES6 the sound is great but... NOT ORIGINAL! That's makes me sad...
The LISENCE issue in PES6... This is the DISASTER for it! STILL... VERY POOR lisence's options! THERE ISN'T in PES6... Germany's Championship!!! HOW THE HELL DID THAT? I'm NOT a fan of German football, but it STILL IS one of the BEST in Europe!!! What crap is that?
Also, even if PES6 HAS the "Premiership" or the "Premera Division" or the Italian Championship... there are EXTREMELY VERY FEW "lisence" teams! And... EVEN these, having SERIOUS wrong data! For example... play France vs. Italy (the last World Cup Final) and watch... ZINEDIN ZIDAN to kick-off the ball to Henry!!! JESUS!!! The man is retired! Why they STILL HAVE him in the team???
The GRAPHICS' issue in PES6... The 3D models of the players are HEAVY-ROCKING!!! Very nice models indeed!... The player faces are BY FAR BETTER than FIFA's, but some players' faces NEEDS to be changed... The pitch... is PATHETIC! To me, a LONG TIME football gamer, THAT pitch "takes me back in time"! They COULD create a BETTER pitch... The stadiums are FANTASTIC (NOT TOO MANY, but great to watching them!)... The fan-growd... IS THE MOST PATHETIC EVER SAW, in the last 5 years!!! NO 3D "close-up" scene in the beggining of a game or in a goal,... and the crowd IN the game looks like... SMASHED TOMATOS! The MOST UNBELIEVABLE thing that PES6 have inside this new version! The nets are a BIT better than FIFA's, but OF COURSE NOT that good like PES5's!... The teams' kits... OK, we know that PES6 DON'T OWN too much of lisence, right?... Oh yea?... Go and check... MANCHESTER UNITED's kit or ARSENAL's kit!!!... The ULTIMATE PATHETIC kits I ever saw!!! The resolution of the kits/logos/emblems... are probably... BELLOW 72 pixels!!! The skins/textures of the teams' kits, are REALLY SUCKS!... I REMOVED them all and I've spend the WHOLE weekend, to CREATE "custom" (but CLOSE TO "REAL"!) kits for EVERY "Premiership" team... to makes me feel better and start a new "LEAGUE Mode" and play!...

Generally... to me PES6 is BY FAR BETTER game from FIFA07... but BY FAR WORST of a... patched PES5!!! I didn't REMOVED my PES5 with ALL these THUSANDS of patches that I've install into it,... and I'm founding VERY DIFFICULT to leave aside PES5 to play PES6!!!
Probably, after some... months that a GREAT patch will be available for PES6, I'll start playing ONLY with PES6...
For now... the PES6 is ONLY to get practice in the new gameplay!...

That's it... That's my opinion...

The graphics are actually worse than 5. in an attempt to keep the frame rate up on ps2 they cut down on the texture sizes for the player models. we got a direct port of the ps2 version. now even in widescreen with my native resolution on my 32" lcd with aax8 and afx16 it still looks shocking (im not sure anti aliasing actually works on the game?). im really dissapointed with this effort but never the less i still and always will play the game. if konami know the game is gonna get heavily modded then the least they can do is up the graphics which is exactly what they did on the x360 version (although a mod remains to be seen on that platform yet)

What is pissing me off the most is the fact that PES6 provides no challenge what so ever.

I'm playing on Top Player and Very Hard difficulties for Masters League. I've won every match. I've finished 7 games so far, and drew a single match. Only 1 goal conceded!!

How is that a challenge!

In PES5 I was struggling to maintain a winning record, and now it's just like a joke.

I'm so disappointed in PES6, you basically can fool around with the ball in the highest difficulty. I'm definitely going to consider going back to PES5.

Go back to PES5 if you like, but i really don't see how you find it harder, in PES 6 the defenders read your movement a lot better and close you down straight away. it takes much more passing, where as in 5 i used to just run turn, run turn, run turn, R1+R2, turn, run, shoot, score.

I agree with you, mate. But... the PES6 CAN'T "beat" a nice "patched" PES5!!! Ι unistall it (PES5) by mistake (sic)... and now I'm re-instaling it and putting EVERYTHING I have collected (patches), to get some fun.
WITHOUT any patch yet, PES6 DON'T giving me much of fun... yet!

Its been along time since I was here last mostly due to the Crap game called PES5.... now that I have tried PES6.
Many parts of the game are still the same as PES5 some changes in font etc etc... nothing new...
Now gameplay. Initial impressions PES6 has improved some parts of the game play compared to PES5. But its so freaking slow... players (even great ones) are slow in turning, passing, making direction change (player glides and mostly loses the ball) WTF is up with all the gliding. Ball controll is stiff & slow.
The cheating of the CPU is better but lots of balls still go the CPU´s direction... Those cheap freekicks are take care off, thank god.
The AI is still crap... players dont join in attack, central forward runs back to midfiled instead of running into box and so on when you go on the flanks...
PES6 is somewhat better than PES5 but Im still very disappointed at Konami. I dont think I will buy this game.

Very true, my friend, cant seem to tell much of a difference between PES 5 and 6.. cept maybe the new menus and things, and the passing has bn made better, but on the whole, im kinda dissapointed.

Thankfully, my brother-in-law bought that game, he hate it soon,... and gave it to me!!! Hahaha!
So... I wouldn't buy the damn thing!

Nevertheless, the "oldie" PES5 is KICKING ASS now! I re-install it WITH ALL my patches-collection!

Since a NICE, BIG patch will be releash for PES6, I'm sticking with the PES5...

Good on ya, but i must say, i've been patching my games since PES 3, and i cant wait for a 6 patch, and as for the comments bout PES 6 being too slow.. thats BS, the passing is a lot faster than 5 and the turning is faster, not up there with super speed 4, but still faster. The overall feel might be slower, but that allows you to play better football, and thats what PES is all about, unless your one of these guys that likes to just try to sprint with one player and tap in from like half a yard out, if you are then stop complaining and learn how to build passing moves

Like I said before lad, the PES6's gameplay is KICKING ASS! I don't agree with the laddie above, about the "slow-passing"...
The game is nice... The menus and the graphics' SUCKS!... The 3D players' models/skins, are very good... But the REGISTERED teams' kits/logo/emblems, are PATHETIC!... The stadiums, though, are great...

The 360 version is crippled in terms of editing options and the gameplay is the same as the PC version as far as I can see.

Visually I agree though, some "fancy" blurring effects have been removed in the PC version as well as bloom.
