Playing at 6 stars...

Teekay

Human After All
I got Pes4 for chrismas and I have been playing ti for like four days now. (I was on a short trip after christmas). I consider myself pretty good at PES3 at 5 star level. I won 90% of matches or so. I have also lost only a handful of games to my friends. Anyway I started to play on 6 stars after the first day I played PES4. First I won American and Asian cups. I had played African for warm-up on 4 stars. Anyway the trouble started when I played European Cup. I just couldn't beat the com! Can anyone help me improve my game?

Here's what I think is wrong with the COM:

-I lost 1-0 to Fiorentina. I had hit the post two times, and com scored from its only good opportunity. I also had 58% posession of the ball, I shot more, had four corners against zero and I didn't foul once.

-Com wins like 80% of my crosses

-If the ball takes a bounce from a player with I'm sure two balls from three go to com player.

-I hit the posts and crossbar more than I score

-com almost never gets cards

-When I'm trying a deciseve pass, the com fouls me and I get a free kick from 35 metres

-Com keeper makes unbelievable saves all the time

-Poor com players shoot better than my Henry or Trezeguet. I'm still practising shooting

-Com can get away with tackling I would be fouled.

Well I was pretty angry when doing this, but don't get me wrong, PES4 must still be one of the best games ever.

orite T,
i play on 6* as well and to be honest ya win some and you lose some ( and also draw :D )
play 1-2s, they work a treat against the defence. it puts them on the back foot immediately and half the time you are through.
i know you said the keepers are quality but watch out for the dodgy ones as well.there is always crap ones around and when you find one shoot from anywhere and the likelyhood is that they will fumble it and your players will hopefully run in for the tap.
hope a helped you T.

It's always the same, after a few games, you discover what the COM does in diffrent situations and you kick his ass easily.

I personally didn't really see much diffrence between five or six stars*

Thanks for the help. I just started 6stat european championship. I mad it trough the group stage :). I've been able to score some goals too, I guess I hesitated a little, I got so angry losing to worse teams than myself. Anyway I should have waited to improve my own game.

I have improved my game greatly.. I won European and International cup and now I've played Bundesliga, and I've won like 12 out of 13 or sth. The one game was a tie... :D

Original?

Six stars is no harder than five, soon enough you will be winning everything and longing for human opposition.

6 stars difficult?? You kidding??

Piece of cake when comparing it to 5-stars PES3, that was really tough when trying to reach COM field with the defenders always making clearances, and real good goalies.

Only some things with regard to your matters..:
- If you hit the post... bad luck, try again, I don't think com goalies have psionic powers to deviate the ball!
- Nor they do magic saves, perhaps your shot ability is not so good as you thought... If you can't improve it, try with with chip shots(I haven't seen any flying goalie yet)or try with faint shoats... These techniques help you out winning important matches.
- The reason why com almost never gets cards is cos its men are too silly to do faults when a human player would to them... If you use 1-2 passes you have free way to reach the keeper and score... (read again the previous statement)
- The stupidity of the com can also be seen in the forward line..: strikers don't take intelligent shots, off course if you leave a player, good or bad, he's very liable to score, as well as you do with yours. But when the AI has to think an attack with 2 or 3 defenders, either tries dribbling and dribbling and dribbling or shots too far awayfrom your goal... what's the problem????
- With regard to the crosses, you are more right, defenders win them usually, try pressing R2 to move off the ball before hitting it. However your defenders have the same advantage with com crosses...
- Besides, what I hate most, is when com counterattacks you with 2 forwards against the keeper, never passes between the forwards to easily score the goal, like a human player would do, it reaaly pisses me off!!!
- I've seen you haven't complained about the penalties, perhaps you haven't reach com area as many times as you think, or you should... when you do it you will see how many stupid fouls they do inside the penalty area, and as a result how many penalty shots go wide, even those been taken by your top players...
- In a few words, you need a bit more practice!

I've done enough practising man. I haven't had this game for a long time (read first post). I play bundesliga now, and I haven't lost once in over 20 games, what you say is true except I'm quite good at the game now. And yes you get easy penalties. PES3 was a little harder, maybe. But in PES3 the com really didn't attack well, it only scored from crosses and rebounds. It was pretty easy after all.

In the end, we are all realizing that pes4 is not as bad and difficult as some stuck in the past tried to proclaim... Accuracy comes out of practice, gameplay comes out of accuracy, and goals come out of gameplay. So, it's all about practice. ;)

However, the problem is that AI is not able to learn of our gameplay in such a way we were told when the game was released... 6 stars is a fake... That's the main problem with pes4. Either you play with friends (time is great) or leave pes4 on the shelf (clean up the dust of the box might be more interesting than playing with COM). :(

Hm, mate. I have a different 'problem'.
Almost always I have less shots and lower possession but - I win!
So don't look at anything but goals as your priority.

I had such a game yesterday, where I hit the woordwork about 5 times orso in one half (2nd half) Really incredible and pretty annoying. Even more annoying is that players can still find a way to head/blast the ball wide, or over, when they're in front of an open goal. The succes/fail ratio in these situation is unbelievably unrealistic. When I'm 2 yards in front of an open goal and I'm clicking the button in order to get the player to head the ball, I EXPECT him to put it in. Normally, he does, but it also happens way too often that the following header is a complete joke. Same thing with getting an open shot on goal from a few yards, which the player blasts wide (or rolls wide)

I'm not a button masher and pretty calm while playing; I time it right and aim at goal, yet it seems the guy on-screen gets more excited and rushed then me, when such a chance arrives. Very annoying.

It's a good thing that we don't have 7-4 score-lines in this game, but it's a completely different issue when the computer seems to ' cheat' in order to keep the score-line down. If I create a 100% chance of scoring, I don't want to see a brilliant player like Henry or Bergkamp blasting the ball wide as if it's the first time he's ever played football in front of an audience.
I don't mind if it happens once or twice in a week orso, but if it happens multiple times on 1 evening of play (about 1 or 2 hours I guess), I feel it's a serious fault in the game, and unfair to the player.

I agree with that the computer needs to cheat in order keep to the difficulty up, that's got to be fixed. When u are in front, the comp team seems to be able to bum u off the ball for free, and whenever u get near them they got a free kick. I think they still got some work to do on AI of the comp teams.

One question: does anyone know how to use the edited stats in master league?

Teekay

Human After All
Yeah, the computer cheats most about players speed, it's like I'm playing Eiredivisie now and when I get half-breakway with Sneijder or Van der Vaart the defs just hang on. That must be the biggest mistake in AI. Other wise it's pretty okay, except heading the balls to the net is too hard.

Playing the master league, one thing is very obvious is that all teams play alike, they doesn't seems to me they are playing to their strength. E.g., no teams are really good at set plays, absolutely no team are playing counters.

Started playing 6* about a month ago and yet to lose. I find wing play the easiest, cutting in from the wing and low drives across the 6 yard box results in own goals, tap ins.

As for defending the computer plays through balls all the time just use square to let the computer control you defender and place your selected player goalside of the player who is free waiting for the through ball.
