I got the "80010514" error today. :laugh: Pissed off as there's £50s worth of content on the HDD. I have a spare PS3 so no drama.

I got it after playing GTA. Apparently it means the Blu-ray program is fucked.
How'd you manage to get a spare PS3

A new Lens would cost you £60. Then it's another £60-£100 per hour for Labour charges.
This was the price I was quoted at a local PC/Game Console repair shop about 3-4 months ago.
It's probably better to have just bought out an additional breakdown warranty like the one Domestic & General do when you first bought the PS3. At least this way you don't end up paying any breakdown costs.
I tell you what though, if the local repair men are gonna charge that much for repairing a PS3 then it means its not worth buying a PS3 yet. If the RRP goes down to £200 or less then you'll find that repair costs will go down as well.
:shocking: that's expensive. What was the release date of white 40gb PS3, japanese version? I can work it out whether my brother's PS3 is still under warranty or not.

I didn't even know Sony had released a White PS3. :shocking:
2 years ago, I heard a lot of noises about a Silver and a White PS3 coming out but then about 1 year ago I heard that they were gonna shelve that idea and stick to making just Black PS3s.
So I suppose I can't help you with your question. Maybe someone else here knows the answer to your question as I've never heard of a White PS3 ever coming out.
the white ps3 looks amazing, i'd buy it for sure if i didn't get the black 60Gb i currently have.
Edit: can someone please take 20 mins of his time and explain to me the whole metal gear story so i would be ready for the next one? i played two games the one with raiden and metal gear 3. But there seems like i'm missing a lot of plots twists.

They just picked it up now. :shocking: I thought I'd have to wait a week for a replacement but they had a new one for me there & then.

That is true, Sony's customer service is top notch. I remeber when they sent a courier to pick up my psp and they gave me a new one there and then aswell
