Possible quick fix for BAL crashing...

I'm not saying this will fix it, but it has done for me. I've posted my idea on PESFAN and I'll copy it here...

BTW, around 3-4 others have tried what I've said and now they can play become a legend with having to worry about it crashing.

I'm just going to quote myself from PESFAN...

I have reason to believe its something that lies in the resolution... I say this because I normally play PES on 1650x1050, now my game crashed at week 26 on the first attempt and would crash each time I loaded that save. Now, I've started fresh, disabling the auto save and saving in 3 slots after each game I play in be a legend. But what happened? It crashed again... This time at week 9. So by now I was really pissed off. I searched a few forums and someone mentioned to run the default resolution, 1024x768. So, I switched to 1024x768, loaded the game up, loaded my be a legend save (at week 9) and now it works! I've played about 5-6 more weeks and "touch wood" not a crash yet.

Can someone else try this and tell me if it works? Thanks...

>>It still crashes for me. I used to play at 1280 until it crashed on BAL, I've changed now to 1024 or even 800x600 but it still crashes. I've tried to lower the details, use windowed mode, etc... no difference... it crashes 1-2 seconds later after I load the saved BAL game.<<

>>Same here. I changed back to 1024x768 and it still crashed within seconds of loading the saved BAL game.<<

You both have to start again I'm afraid. Mine crashed straight after I loaded BAL as well, but after I started again and used 3 save slots, I was able to change the resolution back to 1024x768 and continue, crash free! I've almost finished my 2nd season now!

Well like I said before, first time I played BAL I was playing at 1280x1024 and it crashed on week26. Each time I loaded the file it crashed straight away. Then, I started fresh, this time at 1650x1080 saving in 3 slots after each game. And again, it crashed this time at week9. But, it crashed after I finished the match, so I was able to load the file again and this time at 1024x768. I've been playing ever since... No problems.

Someone else said just after me he tried it and it worked, so it must be the resolution.

If someone can try this theory and see if it works, it will help others and most probably Konami. Just start a new BAL, with your desired resolution, anything higher than 1024x768. Make sure you save after each game in 2 or 3 slots. After the first crash, load the game back up in 1024x768 and see if you can continue your BAL mode crash free.

It worked for me...finally I passed through the 8th week of BAL
Thanx.

How about CHL crash?

Hope this helps! :)

The graphics ain't bad when you use 1024x768. But what would you rather do.... Be able to play BAL without fear of it crashing just until Konami release a patch, or play with the best possible graphics but it crashes?

BTW, 300+ views in this topic and only one reply???? If you have tried this, post so others know it works.

logged in just make this post here.

this solution works (temporary of course!) i went back to the 1024x768 resolution from 1280x1024 and it does not crash. so i can confirm that (at least for some), the resolution is the problem.

Eh? A bit more information would be helpful... It didn't help the CL crash? or didn't help the BAL crash?

If BAL crashes once you load it you have to start fresh with the resolution as I suggested. :)

As for the PC patch, this is what I've found...

Dear customer,

Thank you very much for contacting the Konami customer support team.

We apologize for the inconvenience this problem has caused you.

We are aware that the problem exists, and are happy to report that a patch for the PC version will be coming out approximately by the end of the week to resolve this problem.

In the meantime, we can propose the following temporary solution:

Please lower the resolution of the game to 1280*720 or below, and there should not be any problem while playing a mode.

There's a save game fix that allows you to continue a corrupted save.

I prefer to keep playing at 1440x900 and get a crash every 2 games, since I don't loose any data due to the crash, than to lower my resolution.

The fix is on the 1st post of the troubleshooting thread.

This maybe a dumb question but is this for the PC?

Way to go bumping an out of date thread. BAL mode no longer crashes once you patch the game to 1.1 on PC. If it continues to crash thereafter its YOUR COMPUTER, NOT THE GAME.

Seriously try reading the sticky threads, thats what they are for.
