Australia, April 7, 2009 - Konami today announced PES 2010, and boldly stated that it "will benefit from the most exhaustive raft of new features in the series' history, with every aspect of the game benefiting from key improvements." The game is coming on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP, PS2 and mobile phones this Australian Spring / American Autumn.

PES Productions, the Tokyo-based development team, is setting out to make this the most realistic football simulation available, with player feedback a key part of the process. "We have been monitoring feedback and comments on the progression of the PES series for some time now, and PES 2010 will see us implementing a great deal of the ideas players have been requesting," commented Naoya Hatsumi, Producer for PES Productions at Konami Digital Entertainment Japan. "We aim to make PES 2010 a more user-friendly, immediate experience that places the emphasis on getting straight into the gameplay for which the series is famed. PES 2010 will look better, will play better, and will recreate real football as closely as the current hardware will allow."

The team has expanded for development of PES 2010, with the creation of a number of dedicated departments focused on different aspects of the game, such as online. The key additions/changes to the game are:

Gameplay: "PES 2010 focuses on enhancing the excitement of matches between players, making for a truly challenging experience that will constantly test the player. Intuitive zonal defending will cover spaces and players need to look constantly for new ways to attack. PES 2010 focuses on being a real football simulation, as it requires both strategic play and quick reactions, as in real life. In addition to key out-field elements, goalkeepers are more versatile and with abilities matching those of modern shot-stoppers. The game's referees have also been reworked, with smarter AI elements allowing them to make more balanced calls during matches."

Improved Visuals: "PES 2010 has undergone a major visual revamp, with its celebrated player likenesses and animations now even closer to those of real-life players – including live player expressions to be depicted with an improved lighting system which differentiates between various conditions! Stadium detail is also massively improved, with the grass and other in-stadium elements finely depicted."

All-new Animations and Moves: "Animations now dovetail into each other seamlessly, with dribbling and shots on goals worked into dribbling animations. More individual skills are also on show, including new flicks and tricks that have a definite showing on the way a game flows. Several elements have been completely reworked, with the dribbling, turning and kicking animations greatly enhanced, while there is a noticeable change in pace when a player passes a ball from a standing position than from within a run."

Enhanced Master League: "Master League has been thoroughly renewed with the enhancement of managerial aspects, which enables users to enjoy managing a team for a longer career lifespan. Seen by many as a key contributor to the series' success, the Master League elements in PES 2010 have been bolstered by far-ranging and vital new additions, dedicated to enriching the mode."

AI: "The Tokyo team has worked to improve the AI of the game, with Teamvision 2.0 implemented. Midfielders and defenders now work together to cover open space and close down attacks, meaning that cover can be provided for lower-ranked defenders. This also has the additional effect of removing soft goals, thus returning PES 2010 to its simulation roots. In terms of attacking, players can also now move several players (at) once, sending them into different areas, opening up more goal-scoring possibilities than ever before. As such, PES 2010 necessitates a new level of control from the player. Strategic thinking is as important as quick passing, but the new system greatly opens the way the player oversees control of the team. In free kick scenarios, for instance, players can now instigate the runs of the players awaiting the ball in the penalty area."

Individual Play Characteristics: "In previous PES games, the team formation has determined the movements of the players. PES 2010 introduces a new system wherein the individual attacking and defending nature of the players is integral to the way they play. Each player enjoys unique AI tied into their best abilities, and is reflected in the actions of their team mates – i.e. if a player who is known to be a good crosser of the ball is in possession, more players will flood the penalty area to receive it. Similarly, if a player is known to be good with close control, defenders will work to cover their stronger side, while lone strikers will be automatically supported by midfielders on receipt of the ball."

Strategy Use: "A new power gauge system allows users to balance their strategy in a quick, but wide-ranging way before a match. Every element – pass frequency, movement, the line of defence, width of play, or the position of the front line – can be altered to match those of a favoured club: Juventus Turin are a dangerous side on the counter-attack, for instance, while FC Barcelona use width in their attack. These formulations can be altered at any point, too, with Home and Away matches forcing different circumstances on the user, as does the rigours of a Master League season."

Enhanced Online: "A new dedicated section of the Tokyo team is committed to improving the online side of PES 2010. More downloadable content is also planned. Konami has supported PES 2009 with the release of new licensed teams, transfer updates, etc, and this support will grow for PES 2010. Team and content updates are planned throughout the game's lifespan. These will make the game even more bespoke to the player's match day needs."

Match-Day Atmosphere: "Crowd reactions to the on-field action are now more varied, with all new chants and cheers. The subtle difference between Home and Away matches will be reproduced, and the crowd will react spontaneously to specific situations in a game, showing their disdain or pleasure as fouls are committed and goals scored. Likewise, the commentary has been altered to offer a fresher, more concise overview of the game."

Penalties: "An all-new system has been implemented, offering greater control, placing and accuracy."

Exclusive Europa League License: "Konami has strengthened its relationship with UEFA and can announce it has secured the exclusive video game rights for the Europa League Licence (formerly known as the UEFA Cup). In addition Konami will be enhancing and developing the use of the UEFA Champions League within PES 2010 to make even better use of the best club football competition in the world."

You guys didnt miss anything, this is just the press release from ages ago when announced the game, load of bollocks, it was on here ages ago.

Thats the point, we want an actual proper gameplay sepc from Konami, not marketing bollocks like

"Animations now dovetail into each other seamlessly, with dribbling and shots on goals worked into dribbling animations."

Horrible.

Mate, I really do believe it will be better than than PES2009, which isnt hard, but straight up, im pretty sure they lost too much ground on EA last year to come back this year.

What they need to do is build a foundation for PES to be the best in 2/3 years, the Mo-cap is a start.

To beat the other game this year is too much to ask, but im expecting Major fucking improvements, because i do plan on getting a copy of this game just to see how it has improved, im not expecting to be my game a choice though.

I did miss this the first time around...

aspects of this are way too vague to get much from. Worringly the section on Gameplay being the vaguest of the lot.... we need more intuitve passing, much improved control when shooting and more degrees of movement.

Teamvision sounds promising - teammate AI is in need of a serious overhaul but it will be interesting to see how controlling several players at once actually plays out in-game.

Finally the ability to guide players runs from free kick and corner plays - can only be a good thing.

Interesting that improved control over the ball is mentioned for penalties but nothing on direct free kicks. We should be able to choose where we want to hit the ball in order to create aggressive curl or dip.

Strategy bar sounds a little gimmicky to me but I'll hope to be proven wrong on this. If it's intuitive it could work well for quick counters and off-side traps.

Individual AI sounds ambitious - I'm skeptical at how noticeable this will be for those other than the more recognised players (messi, ronaldo etc) but the more reactive your team mates are the more realistic the game will ultimately play.

Yes I'm clinging to the positives here but I say it in the full knowledge that the next release could genuinely see Fifa taking Konami's crown. I've stuck with PES for all the right reasons for many years but Fifa genuinely looks the more innovative developer at the minute.

Konami really need to pull something out of the bag this time, and playable online is just the tip of the iceberg.

i think people's first choice will REAL this year.

we dunno what the new pes will be like though. pes 08 was dominated by the power balance. like the higher the body balance was, it was just impossible to get the ball off the player.

in 09 they balanced the books a wee bit and body balance wasnt the main advantage. this time round it was dribbling speed. Messi won the award hands down. i can dribble my way threw teams with ease cause he was that quick with his dribbling

Im looking forward to this pes to see what the main advantage will be. i read on here that the more skilled your player is with special abilities, the ai automatically make runs for you. I hope this doesn't turn inti fifa 03 with their player options mode. tap r2 and 3 players would make runs n it was just too easy to pick a pass n score

Inter won't be picked as much without Adriano's dirty shot/height/body balance

Some Interesting changes have been made by Konami

FEEDBACK FORUM- Absolutley fucking essential, and a good step forward from the blokes on PES gaming. However it still kind of points out how fucking stupid Konami are, bringing out a feedback forum where the feedback wont be taken on for another year till PES2011 if at all. Stupid fucks, why didnt they do the feedback thingy about 6 months ago went it actually meant something.

Nevertheless, credit to PES gaming for making the change, I dunno why they are allowing WENB (Winning eleven noob boards) to have a say so, all those fuckers want is a licensed Ade Akinbaye for pes and their happy, if Konami are lucky, i might give them a detailed feedback thread on what to change for 2011, thats if people are still playing PES in 2011.

Good stuff from PES gaming tho, there are one or two fans here who deserve to have a say so in the game, wether Konami will actually listen, im not so sure.

Ps. This douggie dount bloke has got to go, seriously, what the fuck is he on about here

"To these people who fear for PES 2010, who think that Konami will just release the same old game with a few tweaks here and there, I’d like to say that they should keep faith, and trust in Konami. This is a bold statement for me to make, since I haven’t seen what the game will end up as."

Ermm so dougie, you dont know what the games gonna be like, but you want me to spend 40 quid on it? how about you buy the game for me if your so sure. Fool.

"Trust in Konami"....fucking hell, after completley destroying about 8 years of great PES in the space of 2 games, guy doesnt have a clue and shouldnt be allowed to write on this forum.

With that kind of talk, no wonder PES is in the shit.

Its cool, but in regards to 'seeing'..... what major improvements are you seeing, cos I cant see anything yet, the animations should look better fair enough, but shall I tell you what, Konami do seem to be doing alot of talking regarding this tactics gage, which I find very interesting indeed, it seems this isnt just an incidental filler until the real stuff comes out, but one of their Headline improvements.

They are claiming online has been completley resolved which is good. But so far, I havent seen a hint of any other than graphics to suggest this is a proper next gen game.

PES2010 D-Day is July 15th seriously now, and for the record, I dont buy all this bollocks Konami are spewing out, first of all the website is a waste of time as no one wants to see photos of the developers out on the piss whilst messi does the mo-cap, and to be honest, I dont even give a shit about the graphics, which are close ups anyways and dont reflect what the actual finished version is gonna look like. The feedback thing is a bit pathetic as it cant be taken into account for this year.

It smells of desperation you know, thev'e seen that FIFA is gonna destroy it this year and are pulling ideas out of their ass.

Come the 15th I wanna see specfic improvements, I expect the animations to be better, but PES's main problem is the off the ball movement and AI, it doesnt reflect anything like a real game of fooball, and the player movement is just disgusting. Thats one of things they need to look at 1st a foremost, before fucking with Tactics gages and graphics.

For the record, ive call things pretty much spot on this year, when I was telling people about 5 months ago that EA were gonna take FIFA forward with new innovative ideas and that PES had to match them in this aspect or die.

Simple questions need to be answered like: How many directions of movement are there?

Have they answered this yet, if they have been making the game since 08 they should know, oh yeah, they most likely know it isnt 360 degrees so they will keep that quiet until the last min.

Lack of information is astounding, E3.....they was crap....Website....lol....July 15th, final chance, when that embargo is lifted, they better tell me what the fuck is actually going on.

Ps. They still can't grasp the basics, in regards to feedback, one of the fuckers needs to come on here, say hello, then face the music, The main guy of FIFA davd rutter comes on the forum and talks to the stupid fuckers down there about whats coming out, thats one of THE main guys, popping on a forum and talking to some random bloke about whats getting done.

If he can do it, these stupid fucks can do it as well, get on here, make a sticky, pop in, update people on what is going on. And fucking tell them the feedback is for 2011, cos some of the dumb fucks on here are spilling their guts thinking their ideas are going into 2010.

I can see the excuses for pes 2010 already,

"We didnt have time to put all the feedback ideas in 2010, but 2011 is gonna be the best pes ever"

Cue deluded fans to carry on wasting money on shit.

Hello. Hatsumi again.

Sorry it's been a while since the team blogged. We've been focusing so hard on the development. We'll provide more regular updates from now on.

Today, I would like to explain online play for PES 2010. I'm really
aware how important an issue online play is to the fans and we know
we've got to get it right this year.

We have been thoroughly studying technologies in order to address all the feedback we've heard about PES2008 and PES2009. It's been a long process - there's been many, many aspects to think about.

However, I'd like to say here and now that not only have we fixed the lag and warp problems of the past, but we thoroughly overhauled the entire online system! I know people are going to want to see proof of this, but I'm 100% confident in my predictions.

Trying to explain everything in detail would get much too complicated (and boring!), but put simply we have adopted an enhanced version of the system used for PES6 examining the experience we had with PES2008 and PES2009, which guarantees a rewarding level of play control as well asno lag & warp problems. We're really excited by the results.

In addition to the enhanced system, we are going to implement a new feature with which you can play various competitions with others users from all over Europe and another feature which provides several options specifically to enjoy with your registered friends.

Stay tuned and we'll give you more info when we can!

Naoya Hatsumi
Producer

It seems to me that the online mode is region locked.

Okay, if anyone wants to see what PES 2010 is up against, there is a video on youtube of gameplay footage for fifa which i might try and get hold of and embed here tonight, apparently it was filmed on a camera phone so the quality is crap, apparently the asthetics are 09 but the movement and crowd atmosphere are fifa 10.

Ill see, there is alot of debate over wether its real or fake, someone actually suggested it was a real match, we shall see, If I post it, il shall post it in the fifa 10 thread.

Might be an interesting watch, seeing what PES is up against.

People are saying the 360 movement is killer, but ill try and get hold of the vid for you to judge.

EDIT: Video is in the fifa 10 thread, judge for yourselves.
