PS3 PES2011 Gameplay

Hi All, this is my 1st post on PES 2011 so bear with me if I ramble.

I have played PES for years, I personnally didnt have a problem with last years game I loved it, it was however easy to rack up 8-0 wins. players with speed could go past others like they were standing still. Now on PES 2011 I have played (TOP Player Hardest level as always) about 5 hours. I am stuggling to score, my shots either ballon of the bar or pea roll along the floor, I am sure I will get the hang of it. No longer can I speed down the wings cross the ball and score, players with pace seem to be caught by defenders very quickly. I have figure out that there has to be some trickery to get down the flanks, very realistic. I love it.

I do however find penalties very strange, even if I just tap the shoot button my penalties seem to go skyward!!

Also Defending seems harder, the oposition seem to be able to play awsome throughballs though my defence and then go on to shoot, and normally score. Again I am sure I will get the hang of this!! Am I upset by the way the game plays, No, its just plays differently. Its better, the passing is more fluid and free, now when I do score (very rarely and currently frustrating) i feel a great sense of satisfaction, I could do with a couple of weeks off to play this none stop.

I cannot however wait untill a comprehensive options file for the BLES 1020 comes out. Looking forward to that!!

Anyway thats how I feel about the game so far.

I feel similar to you. Used to use Lennons pace allot in the first game (like in real life) he doesnt have to do skill to go past a player.. its just pure raw pace.. Now even the slowest defenders can catch you up.

I cant seem to ever get away from my defender! very annoying and also unrealistic.

If players like Lennon and walcott knock the ball past someone there is no catching them.

Messi isnt the fastest player around but he is ticky and gets past players with skill, for pes 2011 that is great.. but raw pace you shouldnt be able to catch up with.

Shooting is hit and miss even with practice.

Pens are crap to.. i find i can score by tapping shoot and down on the d-pad and somehow how the ball ends up in the corner!

I like this years game but im not 100% convinced.

I also hate the penalties ive only practiced them in training to learn but when you want to but it in the corner you need to tap the analog stick up or down if you tap left or right it floats over the bar obviously the camera angle has something to do with this.

with pens i find the best way is to tap the shoot button to your prefered power, and when the player is about to kick the ball just nudge the analog stick a tad, not all the way in one direction. the emphasis being in the timing. and OP i agree with what you say about scoring, but after about 10-20 games im banging loads in. it does take time to adjust to the game : )

Ok, after a week of playing, something seems to have clicked, i am now banging in the goals, I think the think with PES 2011 is it is so realistic, I love the fact that you now have to work to get the ball up the pitch. I still agree with penalties, and in games where i need to score i tend to do nothing let the comuter bang it down the middle and hope their keeper moves!!

My other niggle at the moment and this may just be me is that when the CPU play through balls through, close enough to my defenders, my defenders seems to run away from the ball, almost like oposite ends of magnets.

I do however believe that the gameplay is much smoother, and once you get your head round the new gameplay a joy!! not played online yet, but will get round to it.

PS Still playing to player and manager 6-2 win in the champions league last night!!!

Thats actually a bug in the game and it works against the CPU as well, if you play a through ball to your forward near a full-back, said full-back will run forward as opposed to turn around and try to intercept the ball. Its why through balls are so effective down the channels.
