There has been a bit of chatter around some of PES2012 threads so thought I may as well get the ball rolling.

Rules are simple:

1) Post your availability to play (e.g I'll be on PES2012 from 8pm GMT)

2) a: Wait for someone to challenge you and b: Marquee teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan etc can NOT be used. Mid-range teams only please.

3) The challenger sets up the lobby.

4) Record your results in the thread.

Questions?

Where's the league table? or do we just add our names and you add in a league table when someone has actually come forward? I'll challenge anyone to a game if they want, as long as I am able to connect to the game online. The game isn't out for a few weeks right?

Correct on both fronts. We maintain it as we go along and the game is released in two weeks I believe.

EDIT: I've corrected the 1st post. Was a bit confusing.

We should have something of a identifying marker, perhaps a personal emblem design?

strictly for the table needs and maybe a champs league like tourney for top players.

Eliminating teams is a slippery slope you say no to Barcelona but what about Chelsea? Obviously no Madrid but what about Juventus? The best way imo would be to get a group of guys then a group of teams everyone can agree upon and somehow randomly assign said teams to players. Is this feasible?

I'm guessing this is for the UK version...
It's a shame, there are so few players from North America I always end up playing some South American cheating scumbag..

Well what can be done is you can actually make a list of teams that cannot be chosen.there would be about 8-10 of them at the most. Also what about team clashing? like Seville vs Seville would suck lol.Maybe we can decide a team for a person using random team selector using some internet program. That againt might put off Players who get awarded with lesser teams. This certainly needs some thinking :D I hope being from India won't have any hindrances from me participating in this event.

Not really. I'll draw up a list of teams that are 'persona non-grata' and post it in both this and the XBOX thread.

Right, any games taken place yet chaps?

We can't start it yet. It's not even officially out in the UK. We need to get a full list of players me thinks, then draft up a fixture list and decide what we're gonna do with regards to how we chose teams. As I've mentioned, my favourite option is to have a cap on how good a team could be (average of the 3 attributes) and allow you to choose any team below that for any match.

There's a list of marquee teams excluded from competition, I prefer to use the random select. It's more challenging and a real test of ability. In fact whenever I participate in games like this with friends the stipulation is random team select only.

I think some of the teams you put on that list should not be included on that list. Teams like Spurs, Lyon, Sevilla should be allowed. Like I say, we should go off the overall stats of the team, not the stats of the players within the team.

I don't think random select should be an option. Yes, it's alright between a few mates when you're just playing for laughs, but not in something like this. Especially when you have very competitive people wanting to play (including me), you don't want to give a people a reason to give excuses over losing. Like "oh, he got Atl. Madrid, and I only got Swansea, that's unfair". If a player CHOOSES to pick Swansea, then fair do's. Like I said, you should be allowed to pick ANY team under the attribute cap. You can change each match should you wish.

OR we do another method. After getting a final list of players, we pick a corresponding amount of teams, with similar overall stats. Then each game round, you're randomly assigned a team to be. That way, you're not just picking a team that you know you're good with, and there is more emphasis on skill, whilst still remaining fair. So it's like a combo of my suggestion and yours. It would require the most effort for the game overseers, but I think it's the fairest option.

Spurs and Sevilla are decent sides mate hence why they were omitted and random select makes it more competitive. I remember getting Stoke City on PES2009 when they had average stats and my mate got Arsenal. He narrowly neat me 2-1 and it was a great game. Random is more rewarding especially if you beat someone using a lesser team compared to theirs. All this attribute marlarkey is just over egging the pudding. Random with top teams excluded. Best of three. Easy street.

With all due respect Sminky, I think random select is a shit idea. It's alright between friends, but with folk like Amateur and 777 playing (if they sign up), it could easily lead to arguments. You know, if 777 gets Norwich, Amateur is randomly given... I dunno, Roma. Amateur then gloats a bit, 777 gets annoyed.... it all escalates. Also, I don't think YOU should be the sole person to decide what teams are omitted, it should be colaborative.

Best of 3 may be a good idea, but I like the thought of having a proper league schedule, with home and away fixtures.

I think we need to slow down a bit anyway. Give it a good month or so until the start date. Give everyone a chance to get used to the game etc. There's no rush.

EDIT: If you want folk to pick shit teams occasionally, we could vary the attribute cap each week, maybe?

Its not a shit idea at all young man what is shit is that if people are that competitive and concerned about the teams they pick then its a rather pointless exercise. You're delving far too deeply into this, its just best of three against whoever challenges you and a league table compiled at the end. If you don't like the suggestions then feel free to run your own gambit, I'm running a true test of ability for PES vets and newbies on random team select on a best of three. Its just a bit of fun. I may even chuck in a prize for the winner.
