I have a PS3 and play pes using the d-pad, and i was wondering whether there were any rewards to getting used to and using the analogue. Also curious to see which is used more.

Analogue all the way.

I decided to start using the analogue myself 2-3 Pro games ago because my thumb did start to feel a bit sore which was distracting trying to play the game.

My advice to anyone considering using analogue is to use it when the new pro comes out so you can adapt more easily to it.

The d-pad does not has a range of movement, and thus, it is very restrictive and limited. The d-pad is the reason for why PES08, PES09, and PES10, felt so outdated.

The left analogue stick, has a range of movement, a lot more depth, which means that you can implement all sorts of animations into it.

At the end of the day, it's all about space, the d-pad does not has space to implement many different type of animations into it; on the other hand, the left analogue stick has the space required for implementing many different types of physics and animations.

The d-pad is outdated, the way forwards is the analogue stick, PES10 was based on the d-pad, the left analogue stick did not feel right in PES10, because the game is designed for the d-pad.

PES11 will be the first PES game to be based on the left analogue stick, so I suggest you get familiar with the left analogue stick.

Same here. I have the same difficulty getting used to the analog stick. Actually, yesterday i've opened a thread dealing with the same issue. I'm glad that some people have commented here, because mine was left empty :crymore:

D Pad. I use the analogue in Madden and NHL and despite it having less restrictions it also has much less control. D Pad everytime

Analogue is very difficult to use. Nice when moving diagonally but I can never keep moving in a straight line.

I was a d-pad user, now ive converted to analogue. It helps with the new passing I think but also its easier with the right stick for the tricks also to have both thumbs on analogues.

Always used the d-pad and still do, was only talking about changing to the analogue last night although I found it hard to adjust my fingers especially for the R1 and R2.

I have played both PS3 and the 360 of promotion copies and after many a play i will say that the 360 analogue is alot more responsive than my PS3 ano stick. Also the graphics are slightly smoother on the 360.

So if like me and have acess to more than one option then choose wisley based on what you pefer with PS3 still the best with easy option files but in other areas if you use analo stick instead of d pad then the 360 is the way to go.

I use D-Pad,
but I'm strongly thinking of changing to analogue, specially because of the thumb after a few games..but since I'm not use to it I don't really now if I'm able to change it after so many years..its 11 years using D-Pad for PES, but as the game change so should we, after all in other games I only use analogue..

using d pad years and years hate analogue no good for football games maybe the noobs use it

Dude,

Before trying to become the authority on how's a noob and who isn't a "noob" -- perhaps -- it would be wise to be a little more practical and mature before uttering the word "noob"

Someone who still plays PES5 or PES6 is in no position to call anyone a noob. PES5 and PES6 were designed for the D-Pad, this means that PES5 and PES6 feels better when you play it with D-Pad... because it is based on the D-Pad.

The D-Pad has little to no depth, and when a button has little to no depth, it makes it impossible to implement many different animations into the game, because the button does not have the range of movement required to implement a vaster set of animations.

This is why PES11 is the first PES game to be based on the LEFT ANALOGUE stick... this means that if you play PES11 with the D-Pad, it will not feel as it is supposed to feel.

The fact that Konami has finally moved on from the very noobish D-Pad is a very positive step as far as I'm concerned. If you think PES11 is for noobs, because it doesn't feel right according to you...

Then don't play it, but please, calling someone a "noob" when you still play PES5 and PES6.... it just makes you look foolish, because your argument is weak and obvious.

The LEFT ANALOGUE STICK has a lot more depth than the D-PAD, that is a FACT whether you like it or not, and the FACT that you ignore the limitations of the D-PAD makes your argument completely and utterly redundant.

In any case, you already love PES5 and PES6, so why so pissed? Continue playing PES5 and PES6 with your "hardcore" friends, have a great time.

I cannot see how anyone can play with the d-pad anymore? Since 360 degree movement has been introduced it's simply not practical.

Let's say your are an attacking midfielder, and you have two strikers in front of you, if you press right on the d-pad and press pass (considering you're playing to the right hand side goal), then your attacking midfielder will most likely pass the ball straight in between the strikers and not towards anyone of the two...

This actually happens to my friend who simply refuses to play with the analogue...
