Questions Re: Player(s) failing to shine & Skip Match Option

In such games, that you play against a very strong opponent and end up splitting points, the defenders of the weaker team tend to be favoured in the ratings. But that one makes no sense at all. 9 touches: 3 passes with 100% accuracy, 3 clearances, 3 interceptions. I can't see where this is worth an 8. Even if that player stopped every attack, but didn't pass/etc, the Interception stat would be higher.

I honestly don't get that one

er..how about 4 tackles (one successful, last ditch) and 3 clearances too (one goal saving)? I think you missed the column on the right...he was also man marking Diego Costa, if that makes in difference..

The successful tackles are the interceptions, I think. And I did mentioned the clearances. But touching the ball 9 times, is so little for a player that played 90 minutes, that I can't really understand that rating. Maybe the tackles were all on the edge, goal saving ones?

I don't think the Man Marking settings can influence the rating, but I've seen stuff more surprisng than that.

You're right mostly and the number '3' appearing at three/four different places doesn't help either. But I always thought that interception was when you intercept a pass and tackle was when you win the ball off of someone. For defender's ratings I have seen that if the number of successful tackles/interceptions are high, the rating is good, the number of passes do not matter. I'll add that I play 9 minute games.

Also, the other day I won against arsenal 1-0 with Wolves. I scored accidentally in the first 15 minutes from a corner. Then I proceeded to pass the ball amongst my defence and wide midfielders. All of them had ~30 passes with hundred percent accuracy. Interestingly, the RMF LMF got a rating of 7.0 while the defenders got 6.0/5.5.

It's exactly that, I don't know why I wrote otherwise

To continue the ratings discussion...

I bought the regen Hélder Postiga as it is one of my favourite players. It was quite rubbish, and didn't play very often. So there's this game and I have a feeling he will play well. Final score was 9-1.

These were the final ratings:

Postiga stats:

Why only an 8? There's no way this performance can be evaluated the same way as the Van Buyten posted previously

Good question. I can only guess here, it seems the game is giving negative points on the basis of some game stats. Maybe it would be because of not making any interceptions or maybe missed tackle is inferred as giving the opposition undue advantage. I do not think there is a way of knowing exactly how the ratings work that would also be completely legal. What did you think about it? Me personally, the highest I ever got was 8.5 and I think someone posted a screenshot of 9.0 a year or two ago.

I used to get 9.0 and 8.5 frequently on PES2013 BAL. My avg rating after 6 seasons, 2 in Swansea and 4 in Milan, was 7.7. But if I did the "exact" same thing on ML with a random player he would get a lower rating.

I really don't know how the game code evaluates this. It doesn't bother me much really, it's just curiosity.

Let me just sum up this thread.

The chance a player can shine is totally random, the only prerequisite is that the player must be still developing. When you get the chance to shine, you have to ensure that the player plays and gets a rating of 6.5 or more once within the next 2-3 games.

The thread also had a discussion about ratings and wide variety of speculation was done with regards to what may and may not effect match ratings. Examples were also cited for the ratings discussion.

Does anyone have anything to add to this discussion? How has the experience of this feature been for you?
