Regular too easy, Professional too hard

Is anyone else finding it difficult stepping up from 'Regular' to 'Professional' difficulty mode? I like a challenge but the opposition dispossesses me way too easily, even if I have my player's body turned away from them in an attempt to shield the ball, they just whip it straight back off me. I'll stay with it but it is frustrating, I could live with Top Player being this difficult but not Professional. Anyone else agree?

regular is too easy, but if you practice professional isn't that hard either. just try to pass around abit more and be abit more patient.

did you own any of the previous pes games? i personally think professional is alot easier this year than it was last year, i thought there was a much bigger jump between the two (regular/professional) in 09 than this year...

I have owned every pes game so far. Strangely I thought Professional was too easy in the past games, only with PES2010 do I find it too difficult. I'd rather find it too hard though than win 8-0 on Regular so I'm staying with it and trying to adapt but it's frustrating.

Hey toffee, I'm guessing you probably just need to adjust to the differences in play style between PES 2010 and previous PES games. I myself am brand new to PES this year. I played quite a bit of the demo, and quickly moved up from Regular to Professional to give myself more of a challenge. When I got the full game, I played my first match on Regular and won way too easily. So far, I'm loving the challenge that Professional provides me. I've won a couple of matches, and had quite a few end in a draw. I've also lost quite a few, but they were still fun. I think being new to the series is advantageous to me, because I'm not having to adjust from being used to playing the game a certain way. Passing the ball around to create space does seem to be key to winning matches.

It seems that a lot of people who are complaining about this game (and I'm not suggesting that you are one of them) just don't like the fact that it doesn't play the way their old favorite PES games did. But from what I can tell, this years game is the most realistic and challenging, because you can't just run and dribble with the ball all day. Again, that's just a guess on my part, because I haven't played any of the older games.

Hi BloodyYank, you're probably right with your theory that I may be too influenced by the game engine of past PES's, I never thought about it like that and I can see how it could be advantageous for a new PES gamer. I've just got it on training mode at the moment and getting more used to it, tough to score but anything beats Regular mode!

I find that proffesional has gotten easier along with regular, but i like it now because if you play on proffesional you have to work harder for goals. I still feel goals are a bit too easy to score this year round though.

seriously. I agree with you 100%. I made the same thread about this the other day. Regular too easy, Prof too hard. Not too hard... just annoying. Out of 9 games in Master League, I have Drawn 6... won 2, and lost 1.

Yeah I find it's a massive step up from Regular, it will take some time to get to grips with it. I still think it's too difficult even after practicing, for the next difficult mode after the incredibly easy Regular I do think it should be less taxing in how the com player can so easily dispossess you, but that's just my opinion.

I stepped up as well (Regular is a joke) and although Professional is challenging, I find the AI a lot less aggressive than its past iterations. I find the AI ping-ponging passes and not moving forward enough as if its afraid.

I've noticed the different between the 2 levels.

For example; I was Arsenal and played Hull in regular mode and beat them 7-0. I then tried the same teams but in professional and I won 3-2!

Hull were moving the ball round like Barcelona in their pomp putting together 25 pass moves.

For some reason the players react so much different too in the modes, for example; in regular nobody could keep up with Walcott and he runs riot but then in professional he gets out paced by George Boeteng!

Not an accurate representation me thinks!

exactly.

Hull moving the ball around like Barcelona, i know actually what youre saying. And it is complete bs. Instead of making it more realistic... they just decided to make it "harder"

I’have not the game yet
I have a question before buying it..
Is "professional" difficulty easier than in demo?
In demo it was a good challenge and i found this level perfect for me..
But i read somewhere that in final version this level is more easy.
Can anyone confirm?

I too agree that Professional is easier this year. I struggled on PES 2009 to even score let alone win! So far I have had a mixed bag of results specifically in the ML with Marseille, winning 6, losing 5 and drawing 4! Ive only managed to score 2 goals 3 times! I think the opposition you are playing matters alot. For instance, I absolutely demolised AS Monaco, ok it was 2-0 but I had 17 shots at goal and 15 on target, they managed 1. Whereas in CL I lost 2-1 to Inter and they had 12 shots at goal to my 3!

How difficult Professional/top player mode is depends massively on which team you use. If you use top teams it's easy, I have no problems scoring and winning with the likes of Real Madrid, Barca, Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool etc. But it can get very testing if you play as a poor/average team.

I recommend anyone to never use Regular mode again, EVER. You can waltz through teams with poor players and score wonder goals at will; you pick up these bad habits/expectations and carry it through to the higher difficulties which really don't let you get away with doing that anymore. I play as Everton 99% of the time and have had to adapt new ways of playing as them, because they lack speed and skill you just can't get away with waltzing through teams anymore like you could on Regular, you are FORCED to play to your team's strengths. In that sense I appreciate the harder difficulties much more now, they make you a better player at the game and actually cause you to THINK, when Regular doesn't and gives you an easy ride. I've got it on Top Player now and enjoying it a lot more, even though it can still be tough. WE92005plusONE/woodhead4780, if you're disillusioned with the higher difficulties stick at it, you'll be rewarded for it eventually even if it can be a pain in the ass. I still think Professional mode is harder than it should be though for the supposed 'next step up' from Regular, maybe it's something Konami can reconfigure for a future official patch.

well, the more and more I play on proff, the more im liking it.....

theres times wehre I dominate, other times where i get dominated, makes sense though, im aston villa. And im dominated rovers, but getting shitted on by liverpool ( not too much though ) . I'm def digging it, though I dont like how the CPU is ALWAYS catching up to the fastest guys on my team.....

We're in the same boat mate, I play as Everton. I guess we're gonna have to use what strengths our teams have got if we hope to get a good result against the better teams... There's always the 'HOOF IT' option if all else fails! Good luck

So I played my last 10 games in ML on proff . and... heres how it went down.

D D D L L W D W D D

so thats :

2 Wins
6 Draws
2 Loses

OUCH

one win was against Manchester City, so WOoO. other was against Portsmouth ( not woo)

BUT one draw that SHOULD of been a WIN was against Liverpool. Woo was I heated.

I started off with a nice goal, 1-0. They came back quickly with Torres outrunning everybody and bam, goal. 1-1 .
Second half I make a pretty decent goal making it 2-1 for me! woo!

and a few minutes later.... this happens.......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPRLZoLKH0w

end of my story .

it seems when I do loose, its because of bs things like this , its a shame. Id rather get dominated 10-0 then loose like that

konami you know things like this shouldn't happen . I just dont get it.
do they play the final products? Or do they just talk about 360 control and Messi and Torres being on the cover and then relax in their mansions? (YES)
