Resident Evil 5 - And so it Begins...

I'm sure I don't speak for myself that when I first saw the Resident Evil 5 trailer, I knew this is bound to happen. And I would expect it to recieve more media attention as it gets closer to being released.

Personally I do think this is just a load of balls and people are just looking into it too much. It seems like somewhere in Africa is the setting of the game so how realistic would it be for them to have a bunch of white zombies? The other option would be for the playable character to be black but then I think a move like that would be just too P.C.

Although I reckon Jonno will love this game.

I suppose the fact he's shooting them because they're zombies means nothing. :/

I hate people who immediately spot things like this and assume it's a case of racism. Lighten up a bit jackasses, it's a video game set in Africa, not the KKK reforming. Shooting white zombies seemed perfectly fine, but the moment they change race it suddenly causes controversy. Pathetic.

I will like this game; but more for the fact it is resident evil.

Maybe someone can mod the pc version (if there is one) to change chris redfields character model into a white knight and change any mention of umbrella to a racist word.

Then i'll love this game.

In all seriousness; when i first saw the trailer, i mentioned to barn that there'd be stupid repercussions, and then a week or so ago i read the post you linked to; i actually asked to be unbanned so I could make a post discussing how stupid an idea it was.

Did the spanish complain when they were being killed and mutilated in Resident Evil 4 by a white invader? NO. I fucking hate it when people play the race card like this. If you can remember the south park episode with the changing of the town flag, then that episodes point really comes into play.

When i see the trailer, all I see is chris redfield kicking zombie ass in africa. it is the racsits who see a strong white man killing evil black people. It is these people who sterotype groups, not us.

Also what this bitch needs to remember is that most zombie folklore does come from africa with tribal rituals, voodoo, curses and all that bollocks. Taking Resi back to where the idea of zombies comes from is a logical step towards the end of the series. SHe also seems to forget that more than likely you'll have some sort of aid from a black sidekick in the game, and that he/she will probably kill black people as well.

But hey, it's just like the word "Nigger" blacks are allowed to call it each other, but when a white man says it, he's a racist. So in Resi 5 blacks will be able to kill blacks, but as soon as chris redfield blows a head off, he'll be a damn dirty racist.

man americans have this crazy sense of guilt for some reason... so they didn't abolish slaves till 200 + years ago, and its still lingers... I went to america last weekend and its so obviously segregated... but everyone there over reacts... all that bitch really needs is a big hard cack up inside her, maybe learn to cook and clean, a husband keeping her in check so that she doesn't write anymore of this nonsense... probably one of those dumpy man-looking PC lesbos...

well, her comments are too on one side, she shouldn't be a reporter after all, she writes almost with anger. And killing spaniards did not raise comments? she should take that if she was being fair, pathetic

A comment from the comments section of the article -

"Your blog has failed.
Where were you in past RE games?

Are you saying you can't make movies/games set in Africa anymore.

How about GTA:San Andreas where you play as a black man shooting down hordes of innocent whites?

Guess you don't do much research.

Find some real news."

and another

"All races should have an equal opportunity to be zombies. Not allowing blacks to be zombies is racism"

Great posts.

There's another one I think that was quite funny.

EDIT: Here it is.

"I am french so sorry for my english. This article is a very big shit."

:D

People like that are just digging for stuff and need to get a fucking hobby like not being a total jackass.

(Look forward to RE5, but I can't play it since I can't afford any of the new playboy consoles)

LOL

While we're speculating the ridiculous, I suspect this game to be one big campaign against african tourism! The message? If you go to Africa, you have two options: Become a zombie or shoot black people. Those of us that are lucky will just get malaria or AIDS.

Not to make an excuse or anything, but it's because a whitey was shooting them. If it had been a black hero killing white zombies in the first Resident Evil, we would never have heard the end of it.

As for the Spaniard comments, why would it be racist? Spaniards are mostly Caucasian...

You've got to look at the bigger picture. These may be just games, but they can be a powerful propagandist tool. Children's subconscious can be easily corrupted by them.

What pissed me off about 4 was that it made Spain look as if we were living back in the 19th century.

Also not many of you would know this but they spoke with a South American (cringe) accent not Spanish.

Usual, children shouldn't be playing these games. I'm sure some will get their hands on it though. Blame the parents.

I'm agree with you, but children shouldn't be playing this, it's like GTA, there are parents who don't have the prevision to see what's that game about.

I think she tried to play RE but never got the chance to play it well xD

fair point, but remember the latino-americans and white-americans do not see eye to eye in most north american communities.
