Right, let's get this BAL glitch sorted once and for all

Ok, on a lot of threads now people have been talking about a problem in BAL, where basically, whenever YOU play for whatever team you're signed to, they play absolutely dyer. But when you're dropped or subbed, they play like superheroes.

I'm on my 5th season, and I have to admit, this has happened to me a LOT. SO I decided to put it to the test.

I just got signed by Man United, top of the table by 10 points, somewhere in February by the looks of things (I got signed in jan transfer window) I've played about 6 games for united, and my stats are fairly good. Since I've been there, we've lost 5 and drawn 1, despite me being crowned most impressive player every time.

So it's Hull to come to Old trafford next. This is where I create my new save slot.

Hull are bottom, 6 points all season.

I play the game, and Hull win 2-0, at old trafford. I turn off, reload my save, play it again. 2-1 Hull. And again... 1-0 Hull.

I reload but this time select skip match. - Win for United
I reload and play the match - 4-1 Hull.
I reload and don't play - Win for United
I reload and play - 1-1.
Reload and don't play. Win for united
Reload and play - 3-1 Hull. One of the goals in this one consisted of Lucio at centre back for United, standing on the edge of his own box with 2 players in space to pass to, backheeling it about an inch, for some guy on ridiculously low stats for Hull to run up and kick it in the net
I reload and don't play - Another win for United
I reload and play - 1-1
Reload and don't play - Win for United
Reload and play - FOUR NIL to Hull.

This is the point where I gave up and played dead space, where the programmers haven't completely fucked up and the AI is half decent.

Cold hard proof that this is a glitch, and that its basically a load of rubbish.

lol, im Newcastle i OVERACHIEVED last season, i came 6th in a league with all the top clubs

yeah i played for marseille and finished 13th and Lyon won the league

Moved to Lyon this year and Marseille are top of the league and im sitting 3rd with lyon! Its hard work though!

I don't understand this tbh, i don't like getting subbed off cause that normally results in my team playing crap and conceding goals. Manager decisions are awful, you get subbed before the end of the match even if your the best player on the pitch and your stamina is still good

I noticed that in my first 3 or so games, i don't think it's a glitch, i think it was intended by Konami to make it really hard..but it failed and its unrealistic and frustrating. Really bad decision

Exactly the same with me! :realmad:

I signed in for Real Madrid and they finished on 8th position! (when I signed in, they were 1st in the World!!!).

And that was not because of me: I was always the MoM when we won the match.

I was starting to think that it was something wrong with me...

From my personal experiences I don't think there is a glitch. I have played on Top Player as a midfielder for almost 4 seasons now, and if anything I think that my team has usually overacheived when I have been on the pitch.

Do any of you use of the shoot button when the opposition has the ball to close the player in possession down? I find that when used in the right circumstances against the right teams it is much easier to win the ball back.

its soo annoying

Just moved to Chelsea (who won everything last season)

First 5 games they won all of them and scored at least 3 per game without conceding! I have now sat on the bench 4 times and they lost to boro, man utd, stoke and managed to scrap a 1-0 win at home to Hull!!

I only came on for about 10 mins of one of the games and that was the Hull game! Its so fustrating!

Maybe its only certain copies, because it appears to me that the performance of your team and its players is directly related to how you perform. I find that when i have a mare, my team-mates usually don't play so well either, but when im on fire then so are they.

agree completely. BAL rewards good play - if your team is on the defensive, man-mark and cover . Holding R2 and square helps make your team hold shape and pressure opponents, and if one of your tream are close enough to the ball holding player, X puts a toe in.
When your team are on the offensive stay in space - if you get caught amongst players your team will fumble a pass or lose the ball to opposition. Stay in space and you'll find your team hold the ball MUCH better - and play on top player. The AI is much better at this level.

your teams Ai play like complete idiots on top player.
so I tried professional. still play like fools.
so I tried regular and this is the right balance.

I just dont feel rewarded cos I know I should be on top player.
Its like when you set it at top player the opponents AI is top play and your teams is always regular.

you can influence the game from the subs bench though can you! So that cant be related to how your playing!

Big thanks to this guy everyone.

I don't get the logic, being that as you're only one player, the whole idea of the mode, you shouldn;t be able to tell your team-mates to pressure, particularly when you're not captain.

But hell, this works. Just pretty much hold square when opposition are in possession. Works wonders. Cheers.
