I've tried this out myself now and it does seem to make a big difference to the AI.

Played a game of Arsenal vs Aston Villa before with/without amending the Assisted Settings. When I hadn't amended them I won fairly comfortably 4-0. In the replay after changing the Assisted Settings, it was a much more challenging game, Villa actually moved out of their own half and attacked, I still won, but it was 3-2 and a much tougher game.

When the AI uses a mixture of form and ability to pick the team, for me it places too much emphasis on form, so can have some strange team selections, e.g. Blackburn starting with 3rd choice keeper in goal instead of Paul Robinson.

When the mixture is used, I would expect a replacement only if the two players were close on ability and the form of one is blue and the other orange and would expect where there is a larger ability gap, a replacement only if the 1st teamer was purple and the backup was orange/red (depending on size of the ability gap).

For personal preference, I would therefore set the Lineup to 3 in Assisted Settings, so that the AI picks the team based on ability alone.

It doesn't freaking matter. The defensive pressure once you get the past midfield is virtually non-existant. You have 20 yards free to run towards the goal - it's completely unrealistic and I honestly don't know how you guys cannot see how big of a bug it is. Forget all the other changes, this one should be TOP priority.

Ridiculous.

I change the attack balance to 3 now for all opponents. I find this makes some opponents better but other not so. I am playing the champions league as Villa and I roundly hammered Barca 4-1 last night on top player which lets be honest isnt realistic, I then set the attack balance to 3 for my next opponent (AZ Alkmaar) and had 2 cracking games - won the first 1-0 but lost second 1-0.

Compactness + Pressing + Defensive Line = defensive pressure.
Do it yourself!

I fixed that problem weeks ago on my installation.

And FYI, it's not really a bug, it's just a poor job with the tactic sliders from KONAMI's side.

It actually choose the 3rd keeper because crappy stats + good form turn out a better keeper than good stats - poor form. So the selection is sensible that way, and it won't happen very often because crappy players are usually rarely in good form compared to most of the better players.

Is this worth it? I have had the game for two weeks and I am noticing the AI rarely comes forward.
