Sup James Dean,
I disagree to the point you made that PES 2010 was "..big step forward". I know that PES 2010 was the worst title to date and the reason why so many are frustrated. I will agree that the graphics was improved a lot but gameplay suffered immensely. We have never seen lag on passing in any other title.
Konami/Seabass seem to have their own agenda. I am not sure why so many are enthused about this release because they have shown very little improvements in this title. Freedom of passing should not be a selling point for a footie game....that should be basic. All the stuff they promise each year diminishes near release date. MLO has reported a 80% success rate. This to me is a disaster. It should have reported 100%.
When fans are requesting a revamp of PES06 for 2011 ....on a next gen system......this clearly indicates failure.
Agreed - people aren't just being difficult. The quality of PES/ISS has gone markedly down. I would class myself as a die-hard PES fan from the start. It's pain me that I now believe FIFA has a better game than us, but ultimately, I bought the World Cup Edition this year and enjoyed it far more than PES 2010. I was hoping to switch back, but I've seen nothing to inspire me on this release.
James_Dean, I don't see how you can support Konami on building on what is a PS2 engine. A games company as big as Konami and a franchise as big as PES deserves to have a cutting edge feel to it. Like I said before, no other football game could hold a candle to the previous incarnations. Like I said, MGS was one of the best games ever, but the engine evolved with the hardware. That's how we get truly GREAT games - innovation and harnessing the technology.
If anybody on this board can tell me why they have to release in October every year, other than to compete with FIFA, I'm listening. It's profiteering, no different than EA do every year with NHL,Tiger Woods, FIFA, Madden etc.
I'll tell you what they should do. Release every couple of years or so but dedicate some development time to patching, updating the last incarnation. This would keep the game fresh, whilst allowing time to create a truly new game.
All this being said, I'll play the demo when it comes out but I'm not holding my breath on it being any good. Unless I pick it up and actually don't have to force myself to like it, like I did with 2010, it will probably be getting left on the shelf. FIFA, although it is far from perfect, is no longer a game for 'noobs'. That's just blind devotion to PES talking and that is part of the problem. I want to play the best football game out there. EA, in FIFA, have produced a product that is a better all round one that PES I'm afraid. I hope I'm wrong this year, but I don't see it thus far
