Sup James Dean,

I disagree to the point you made that PES 2010 was "..big step forward". I know that PES 2010 was the worst title to date and the reason why so many are frustrated. I will agree that the graphics was improved a lot but gameplay suffered immensely. We have never seen lag on passing in any other title.

Konami/Seabass seem to have their own agenda. I am not sure why so many are enthused about this release because they have shown very little improvements in this title. Freedom of passing should not be a selling point for a footie game....that should be basic. All the stuff they promise each year diminishes near release date. MLO has reported a 80% success rate. This to me is a disaster. It should have reported 100%.

When fans are requesting a revamp of PES06 for 2011 ....on a next gen system......this clearly indicates failure.

Agreed - people aren't just being difficult. The quality of PES/ISS has gone markedly down. I would class myself as a die-hard PES fan from the start. It's pain me that I now believe FIFA has a better game than us, but ultimately, I bought the World Cup Edition this year and enjoyed it far more than PES 2010. I was hoping to switch back, but I've seen nothing to inspire me on this release.

James_Dean, I don't see how you can support Konami on building on what is a PS2 engine. A games company as big as Konami and a franchise as big as PES deserves to have a cutting edge feel to it. Like I said before, no other football game could hold a candle to the previous incarnations. Like I said, MGS was one of the best games ever, but the engine evolved with the hardware. That's how we get truly GREAT games - innovation and harnessing the technology.

If anybody on this board can tell me why they have to release in October every year, other than to compete with FIFA, I'm listening. It's profiteering, no different than EA do every year with NHL,Tiger Woods, FIFA, Madden etc.

I'll tell you what they should do. Release every couple of years or so but dedicate some development time to patching, updating the last incarnation. This would keep the game fresh, whilst allowing time to create a truly new game.

All this being said, I'll play the demo when it comes out but I'm not holding my breath on it being any good. Unless I pick it up and actually don't have to force myself to like it, like I did with 2010, it will probably be getting left on the shelf. FIFA, although it is far from perfect, is no longer a game for 'noobs'. That's just blind devotion to PES talking and that is part of the problem. I want to play the best football game out there. EA, in FIFA, have produced a product that is a better all round one that PES I'm afraid. I hope I'm wrong this year, but I don't see it thus far :(

.
I totally agree with this unclefredo.
BTW I also agree that RIGHT NOW, FIFA IS THE BETTER GAME. It's harder, smoother and overall a much less NOOB game than pes.
But when you start to see beyond this point, you'll realize that fifa only hide it's glitches and weak points with good animations. Then when you see this, you'll realize that pes isn't that far off from fifa right now.
But by this, fifa is still the better game, BUT NOT BY MILES AND IT'S ALSO FAR FROM PERFECT.
The fact is that BOTH PES AND FIFA ARE OUTDATED and neither of them actually simulate football well.
So by releasing a game after 2 or 3 years, but update the current one, in the end, we'll actually end up with a much better/quality game. Unfortunately, nowdays everyone does it for money.

Well we could argue about which game is better for the rest of our lives. It´s probs just a matter of taste. I´v always been very angry at EA for destroying the Black & White series..... maybe that is one of the reasons I see Fifa as a rubbish game made for children, enough of my psychology ;) If Fifa had more meat in and the ball wouldn´t feel like a balloon then maybe it would be pretty good. Anyways let´s wait for the demo to judge the game.

I don't think the current system where unless you are gifted with three limbs to pull off any of the tricks you can't pull them off smoothly because of them being on the direction-pad is particularly realistic, either. If a player has the stats to pull-off a trick - and it could well be the case Konami have made them open to everyone in the beta to gauge reactions - then the player should be allowed to have a moment of skill to beat their man.

If it didn't happen in real football, Soccer AM would lose a segment each week...

And I don't really hate the view, it's actually realistic. When I watch a football game, the view when taking penalties is from the side so why would I hate this in pes?

How on earth can it be realistic for a penalty taker to taking a penalty with a view from the side? You as the gamer act as the player(the penalty taker) and that view my friend is a front view. What you are talking about is the view for the spectators and when it comes to a sports game like Pes your are not a spectator but a player. So your analyses holds no water.

I have nearly got through a year of being frustrated as hell , and also of absolute joy and satisfaction while playing pes2010. We learned to live with the flaws in pes 2010 and we will do the same with pes2011 (hopefully not many).

That is the problem with PES- we must learn to tolerate pes. Do you know what other words can easily replace "to tolerate?" Here they are- Struggling and Suffering. This is what Pes has become as of late and the funny thing is that there are people like me who buy the latest installment of Pes every year, just to learn to live with the flaws. Games meant to have fun and enjoy it, not to frustrate.

PES 2010 was a good game, PES 2011? Looks good, gets some getting used to, has some issued with ball physics and such but I think it will be a good game, proabably not great. FIFA? Im not a fan of the series so I can't say much but from the demos I've played its not jawdropping like some claim. It may be an alternative to the PES series but not much better, if that. What we really need is a 3rd serious sports company to throw their hat into the futbal arena and make a really good simulation game with new ideas to kick EA and Konami in the pants and wake them up. What company could that be? I would say 2KSports, their Hockey, and especially NBA games are amazing and Im sure if they put themselves down to it they could make a half descent footie game to compete with the current games.

IF YOU WATCH FOOTBALL, THEN YOU'LL NOTICE THAT THE VIEW IS ACTUALLY FROM THE SIDE.
I know, I also prefer the old view but it's still realistic because in reality, the view from pk's is from the side.
