'Scripted' match

I know PES5, like it's predecessors, sometimes handicaps your players and turns your opponents into superhumans so it can 'cheat' and get a goal, but I had an ENTIRE GAME of it yesterday. My ML are phenomenal, beat Chelsea 6 - 1 on 5 stars, that kind of thing. It was against the very average Atletico Madrid on 5 star WEFA Champs group stage.

I had 16 shots on goal, which ALL got saved or missed. One was Adriano in front of a completely open goal at 10 yards, unpressured, hitting the post. It was so ludicrous it made me laugh. I made the very rare move (First time on PES5) of restarting the match after I lost 1 - 0 after they scored from a free kick (The only way the CPU can score sometimes, when you can do nothing about it.) They had 4 shots all match.

Played the match again. 19 shots, hit the post twice and the crossbar once. No goals. They scored form a corner (Again, I cannot prevent this) on 89mins. Their 3rd shot of the match. Reset it.

Played again. Was 1 - 0 down on 80mins and scored via a flukey deflection. It was my 45th consecutive shot on goal. 45 shots for one goal. Immediately my players acted as though waist deep in treacle while Madird streaked up to my half, knocked in a cross (again) and nodded in. Lost 2 - 1.

Played again, defensively as possible. Only took 9 shots on their goal. No goals. Ended 0 - 0 and I was grateful for that. i was also disgusted at the cheating tactics programmed in. NOT, I should point out, unique to Pro Evo 5. I'd scored 1 flukey goal in 54 attempts with a very, very good team

As an experiment I set up an exhibition match. 5 star, my ML team v Atletico. After 7 game minutes I'd had 2 shots and scored 2 goals. Switched it off, went to bed.

Poor show Konami, pick it up for PES6 and if it's the processing power crippling the AI, then please sort it for Playstation3, because I can't wait for that.

I dont understand. How can you blame this on Konami?

This was clearly your fault, If you know the CPU will have a high chance of scoring a corner or freekick in the last minutes of a match, then do not allow them to have one, its quite simple.

The game works from the way you play, you could of prevented that corner and free kick in your games and you know it. Konami have not scripted this.

The CPU works off the way YOU play.

Something mashed happened to me yesterday....I was playing Everton.....they had a corner & Beattie got onto it, it smacked off the crossbar & then O'Shea cleared it, but it was given as a goal....I looked at the replay & not all of the ball was over the line!

The CPU does cheat, but it's not as bad as PES4. In PES4, when it came to injury time, the CPU was a disgrace. If there has been 4mins of injury time given and you're about to attack (or gain possession), the whistle blows early. If there is 0 or 1min injury time and the CPU has possession, the game keeps playing until the CPU loses the ball. Fortunately that's not the case in PES5. However, when it comes to fouls and off-sides, the CPU is a dirty cheating bastard.

There is no cheating involved in the game, I dunno how you can say this.

I know its a pain when the computer scores in the last minutes of a match, but you cant blame Konami on scripting the game to play this way.

You can prevent the CPU from scoring, which means its not scripted. Stop being sore losers.

lol, i know it sounds stupid, but they do. It's not bad enough that they cheat you just during every match with things like 'not being able to move to a loose ball' or 'when trying to clear with circle, it stops the power bar going up so it just dinks the ball out to the edge of your box for them to run in and score'..

but what kingt says is not too far from absolutely true. I did this aswell against Charlton. The first game was one of the most annoying things ever.. something like 22 shots, 12 on target and hitting the wood work about 3 times. (was quite a few weeks ago so dont recal specific stats on shots etc - but was in the region of). I ended up losing 0-1 from a late penalty which i conceed from a corner that should never of been allowed.. Some weak ass shot that the goalie fumbled round the post. As soon as the corner was kicked the whistle blew up.. HUH? Penalty? The replay is shown, as clear as day my player was standing absolutely still, their player ran from about 5 yards away straight into him, did a stumbling animation and the foul was given. I was fuming! So end of the game looked at stats, that was their second shot on goal. Turned it off, tried again..

As to not have to bore you any more lets just said basically what happened to Kingt happened to me. All over them, every shot at goalie or woodwork, they have 2 shots and score with their first on target.

This happened another 2 times, until finally i beat them 1-0 by physically walking it round the goalie and passing it into the net from about 2 yards out.

lol, then a few games later i beat Juve 5-0 in champions league knockout stage. What a joke this game is sometimes...

You sound a bit shit to me mate, i can win games where i have one shot at goal, sounds like you need a good consistent deadly accurate stiker, such as shevchenko.

I refer you to my original post. 54 shots on goal over 4 matches against them in the Master League Champs League on 5 star. 1 goal goes in off a flukey deflection. Exact same match played separately from the master League, on exhibition, same 5 stars. Scored 2 goals in 2 attempts in 7 games minutes. The game cheats at times dude, you just can't see it. It doesn't do it often, and it has done it in previous Pro Evos but it is there and I pointed it out.

How can I blame Konami? They programmed the freakin' game, who else to blame?

And as a footnote, It took me 6 games before I just beat Arsenal 1 - 0. They outplayed me though, I have no complaints. You know the difference between being outplayed and cheated against.

Yeah, sore losers one and all they are that are on this thread complaining. They don't want to lose a game ever and don't want a challenge. That guy who said he lost "cos of a corner that never should have been allowed", even though his goalie pushed it out of play. How can you say this? Do you mean to tell me that it is now cheating to have a player play less than perfectly? as for At Madrid, they are not a bad teamif they have Torres in team still and anyways as that other guy said upsets happen!

Sore loser? Jesus dude can you read? 5 games in a row against Arsenal, lost every one, "no complaints", and I'm no Gooner. I lost to friggin' bottom of the table Man City too last week but took that on the chin, that cnt Fowler lobbed me. Fair play, they won.

You're picking out selected bits you can argue against or making points that are obvious but also impertinent. You are also ignoring the indisputable truths. You debate like a child and I don't mean that as an insult. The hard facts remain and should be taken into account. 1 goal in 54 attempts in ML, 2 goals in 2 attempts outside of ML, same match.

FYI my front two were Rooney (Shot Acc 95, Shot Power 93, Shot Technique 95.) And Adriano (Shot Acc 93, Shot Power 99, Shot Technique - can't remember!).

I think kingt does have a point but to be fair i think that the CPU does have an extra edge in important games. I played madrid in the league twice, beat them 4-0 and 5-1. I next play them in Champs League final where they become invincible. This i think is a good thing though cos like in real life, teams would have more desire in important games and would be harder to beat. I won the final 2-1 in extra time so perhaps if i lost i wouldn't be saying this lol

I agree with the original poster, the game does cheat its pretty odvious. The other guys in here are just playing their "i'm the best pes5 play evar!!11" card.

Every single time someone says something bad about this game the reply is "you must be shit at it".

it isnt exactly cheating....... o alright it BLOODY WELL IS!!

i agree god damn it, my post in the 'teams we just hate' thread is the most annoying thing ever

the cpu doesnt mean to but it always bloody makes u feel as if they are so, its just not fair when thet can slide u in the area and miss the ball and clatter your own player over yet we human players seem to be under the refs rule..'The human player cannot come within the shadows of the cpu player or its a foul'

:realmad:

on a good note the game is still the best ever

Not at all.

The original poster said the game is scripted, obviously not when the result of the game is in your hands.

Edit: Fab said it perfectly about 10 posts up.

Maybe not scripted, but to say the CPU does not cheat is just naive.

I second that motion. It seems that there's alot of people who don't want to admit to flaws in the game.

Sure it's a great game, probably one of the best ever, but the CPU cheats like a mf.

I put 'scripted' in quotation marks for a reason, it was for want of a better word so not to be taken literally. The word has been bandied around before so I used it due to it's familiarity. You can call it cheating, hobbling, handicapping, whatever. It's there.

I do think that it's because of the limits on the AI. It gets only so good before the inevitable happens, the human brain outthinks the limited CPU. In order to then win the CPU needs to 'move the goalposts' (ahem) in order to level the field. That means balls falling to it's advantage a lot more, your own players running as of waaist deep in treacle and all that.

I usually put up with it because it seems to me that it will do this for about 30 game mins sometimes, then ease off back to normality. Thos moments when you know, you just know, the CPU is going to score. It's tiny nuances, largely picked up by the subconscious I imagine, that 'feeling' that you know it's gong to score.

I chose to start this post because that match was the worst case of it I'd ever seen. It was a full 90mins of all the tricks it has up it's sleeve, all to my detriment. Mental stuff, it really was.

Ther are those that stick their head in the sand repeating to themselves that Pro Evo is the best football game ever. Well I agree, it is the best football game to ever grace any console. It has to have drawbacks though or it can't improve!

I cannot wait for PS3 Pro Evo. The AI afforded to the players due to the monumentally improved processing power should be brilliant.

I have to say the computer does cheat a little (sometimes a lot!!) They like to injure your players when you are doing well I noticed. It makes it that little bit tougher without your key players. And I'm not being paranoid about this. I played the same game 3 times and got injured in every single one. What are the odds of that??

we all love pro which is obvious..it IS the best football game out there, but it is a light year away from being perfect. there are so many bugs and flaws in it at this moment in time. i agree about the computer gaining unfair advantage in important matches, thats why i only really play againt my mates, its alot better than playing the computer in my personal opinion. im very optimistic as to what they can do with next-gen capabilities, lets hope they can fix alot of these errors and make us that bit happier in the not to distant future...
