Have to agree, and it seems to be most painfully obvious after scoring a goal. Again and again, directly after scoring, the other time will go down the field, waltz through the defence and either tap one in, or score a world class bicycle kick from the edge of the area, from a player with poor ratings, for example, and I'm utterly helpless to stop it every time. I've played maybe 30 games so far in ML, and I'd estimate it's happened in 20+ of those games. It's frustrating, annoying, but most importantly unrealistic.

2015 did not have this issue. It definitely had some scripting from time to time, but it's nowhere near as bad as this. Why has this been added into the game? If the average player can pick this out as a major flaw, why can't the developers?

2015 is a much better game, for this and several more reasons. 2016 has been plain unenjoyable for the most part. They should have stuck to 2015 as a base and added in several small improvements.

teams scoring straight from kick off because your team decides to down tools and let them walk thro. this game is getting worse. a lot of goals are coming the same way and its obvious ffs.

Lastly, why is it so hard to make a simple football game with simple controls no AI interference and complete control? I mean its beginning to happen on phone games - Why not back to basics, think Sensible Soccer - it's so easy at grassroots (forgive the pun) so why does all this 'muddy' AI nonsense even need to be added in the first place? ...

It's not in their (greedy) interests to make such a game, I think they purposely introduce problems so that they can 'solve' them the following year; then they go and introduce different problems... the cycle continues...

Back in the days of Sensible Soccer (which I never got to play as I had already sold my Amiga 500) the programmers/developers really tried their hardest to produce the best game that they could. Now we have the annual releases of sport games, and the likes of EA Sports and Konami (and even 2K Sports(!)) 're-invent the wheel' (and introduce/'solve' gameplay problems) each year.

I remember games such as Kick Off 2 and Actua Soccer 2- they weren't 'realistic', but wow, they were entertaining! Now we're in the age of 'FUT'/MyClub... a cynical cash-grab in my opinion, I'm just not interested, I'll stick to career/season modes.

The refereeing is annoying but not game breaking for me.

However, the goalkeepers have been game breaking for me. I haven't played PES for weeks because of this. I'm really starting to worry that they wont be fixed.

You're right there, I would have let the refereeing go if it wasn't for the 'game-breaking' goalkeeping! I doubt they will implement a remedy for the poor goalkeeping until PES 2017:

PES 2017: "Goal Keeping NOW with added RealistiSave®"

Now that you've witnessed it, it's pretty disgusting right? It has all but killed the game for me, without it the game is great but when I think about how little I am in control I just don't bother. I want to be able to play other people and pit my skill and wits against theirs and with this system I can't do that fairly. So I'm out. Roll on 17, 18, 19....

Its fucking doing my head in, im getting scripted on for 3-4 matches in a row, usually i score first then it all falls apart, lethargic, slow, bad touches so it bounces to another player so they can pick it up. passes going to everyone but my team, easy chances missed, headers going over the bar, its really too obvious. Konami must think were fucking daft.

I'm not really sure what the point is here.

My problem are the moments when control is momentarily taken away and when my players decide to do 'silly' involuntary things that when added together equate to the AI essentially handing my opponent an advantage (of sorts) for a given period of time. Now, I was calling these moments of madness 'scripting' but if you had read my posts you would have noticed that I have tried to change that term by rephrasing it as 'advantage' play since there are many interpretations of what scripting is.

Regarding your last sentence, my personal frustration comes solely from this problem, so it's not something that can be fixed simply by walking away or taking a break because when you come back it's still there, just as consistent, and sadly there is no remedy other than not playing altogether.
Now, had the frustration come from my own psychological inability to deal with a fair defeat then yes I understand it's time for a break, in which case I would then go play with my wife *cough* I mean kids but regrettably it's not that kind of frustration.

Furthermore, I don't think anyone is arguing. Some people, for whatever reason, simply don't see it and tbh I wish that was me, but sadly I do see it and what I see is horrid.

Because when you play offline on Easy settings its practically gone so it's a something that is added to when a certain setting or mode is triggered to maintain a repressive form of balance and I think this is completely wrong. Perhaps Konami will wake up soon and learn to KISS.

My point is in your entire response!

Frustration!

Why bother to play if you know its (scripting) is there? What do you expect to be changed the next time you put the game on?

Wouldn't that be a case of "Psychological inability"....to recognize that the game design (scripting) in broken.

I would urge you to put the controller down and go outside and have a laugh with your family .......it will be much more fun.

- meets Benny Hill (on crack). It's just like an arcade game these days, a cheesy 1990s arcade game. I played a great game of FIFA 16 last night- I was Newcastle (after being sacked from Inter for finishing in 6th place) away to Chelsea, and managed to win by 2 goals to 1. I scored in the 90th minute, I love it on 'slow', the pace is just right for a nice passing game.

Anyway, I don't know why people are being blindly loyal to a company that just doesn't give a sh!t. At least EA Sports' game is evolving.. yeah, that's the real evolution.

Believe me, back in the PES 3-6 days, I absolutely loved playing PES, much more so than FIFA. It's like they have switched roles, now PES is the 'arcade game' and FIFA is the 'simulation.' 'Out of the box', FIFA appeals to casual players, but if you play FULL manual, on 'slow', it's brilliant ('Professional' level).

I'm like a broken record, but I wish people who ditched FIFA a few years ago would at least give it a good try, it has changed a hell of the lot- for the better.

To hell with the Bhatti Bhoys, I'm tired of the ConArmy and their knavish tricks!

I get that some of the posts about scripting might be a bit exaggerated but how can you people seriously deny this happens in PES? It has been a staple in this series for years (it's definitely a big part of FIFA too, though).

I don't play online, so I can't comment, but offline mode is ridiculous. When the CPU scores first, the game gets so much easier. Every time I have the ball on the counter the other forward makes a perfect run and I'm able to send him a through ball to put him one on one with the keeper. When I score, the CPU gets mad and there's pretty much no way to stop him. Yesterday I held a one goal lead all game by maintaining possession and playing cautiously. The other team didn't have a single chance until they got a throw-in near the goal line. He threw it well into the box, where the striker volleyed it first-time for a goal. Stuff like this always happens in PES. It's to the point where I almost think I'm more likely to win if the computer scores first.

I am a Fifa player for years now but grab the demo of PES every year since 2008. Fifa blows PES out of the water ...in my opinion. This years' Fifa release has seen a lot more fans appreciating the slower game play, removal of speed demons, removal of lobbed through ball, removal of player cross or corner accuracy.....and i can go on. Less cursing at the game overall. PES player models are gorgeous...but thats it. Fifa is the way forward, its sales number do not lie.

Scripting cannot be denied, it is in every single video game created. It is how we describe what scripting is. A video game does not have the ability to just get up and start cheating its human users as it feels like.

Scripting are codes used as a " Do this" if not "then" "Go here" type of design. So bad scripting or game design makes a game harder to play.

If that is the case, the user should adjust or quit playing the broken game.

Video games CANNOT CHEAT ...its the design/scripts/game coding that is poor or broken.

I've bought (for my sins) every FIFA since 'FIFA 2001' except for 'FIFA 09', so I've witnessed the gradual switch from arcade-like to simulation-like gameplay.

I bought PES 3 to 6, then the disaster that was PES 2008. I bought PES 2011/13/14- then last year I traded the game (2015) very early on, the same this year (2016). I have now learnt my lesson (just like with PES 2008) and will certainly NOT purchase PES when it is first launched next year. In fact I will not buy it at all if it's just a 'fix' of this year's version.

FIFA has taken such a bad rap (in certain quarters) this year because it is the closest to simulation-like gameplay that it has ever been. Nick Channon's team have done tremendously well this year- he's possibly the best producer FIFA has had. EA can't win, they make it more like how PES used to be (albeit with much better technology today), and the kids who want 7-8 scorelines are crying into their Cornflakes!

This is the first time where I don't feel robbed out of a win, even if the CPU scores near the end (in two seaons it has only happened a few times- and I have won near the end as well- fair enough(!))- I used to hate that about the older versions of FIFA. I have had some really fair results (Professional/full manual/slow speed).

Anyway, those people complaining about FIFA are apparently too dumb to change the sliders/skill settings/speed etc. I haven't even changed any slider settings this year, I love possession play, and games tend to be very even and fair. I can relax playing it, with PES it's like a wrestling match, trying to tame a savage beast (the CPU AI). For me, it's the iteration that finally eclipses PES 5 (as my favourite all-time football game) - I have a lot of fondness for that game, but technology has moved on so much since then...

Dude, that is exactly how I see it also.

The only reason I am here is because of this great site (Pesgaming) along with the fun of messing with delusional fans and of course PES was the first footie game I ever played. I will never hate the game but I ssoooo despise its' recent designers along with Konami's lack of interest for genuine improvement. I hope and pray ever year that it becomes relevant.....but the Demos keep me away.

Fifa can be a pain to play also, but at least I can see the improvements. The game is closer to reality for me than PES. Can you imagine that in 2016 no player can "juggle" a ball in PES 2016? Isn't that an integral part of football?

PES has died ...a few years ago. It can only come back as a Zombie, which i believe .....it has.

I initially came here to have my say about this year's lacklustre instalment of PES, I traded it at approximately half of its retail value, just days after purchasing. I won't make that mistake again in a hurry!

This is a very good forum, it doesn't hide the postings of disgruntled players (who have paid money for the bloody game)- it doesn't shove all criticism of the game and the people behind it into a sub section of the forum- unlike a certain other one! This is the only PES forum where I post messages- I'm not really a 'forum person' - this is THE only forum that I have joined in about eight years or so. I was so moved by the crap that's going on with PES that I just had to make my opinions known (for all that that is worth)!

PES 2016 is like the straw which broke the camel's back, then they promote Adam Bhatti- it's like a slap in the face!! Konami are either very naive and amateurish, or they just don't give a sh!t, I think it's a bit of both. / -:

PES lost its way when they released the abysmal PES 2008- one of the very worst games that I have ever purchased. I have lost all faith in them ever being able to compete with EA Sports again- and this genre NEEDS competition! It's better to see the reality of the situation than close one's eyes and pretend that everything is okay...

Yesterday, for the very first time, I was victim of that evermoaned scripting which I never realised before, at least not so obviously.

On myclub I played the Best of october-Cup which ended this morning.

In the 2nd game vs Celta Vigo I was two up before they miraculously equalized in the overtime of regular time. In overtime I had to stop them by getting a red card in the 120th, but they scored nevertheless a far to easy free kick which was stopable.

I was annoyed and restarted the cup and took revenge by destroying them 7:1 with maximum concentration and efficiency (1st game 3:0 vs West Ham).
Btw I'm not at all a top shot at the game I don't play on Profi (Professional) too often and Celta Vigo and my next opponent with both better teams than my myclub-Crew were stated as Pro-Level.

Next up was Wolfsburg and even after that surprsingly good game vs Celta I thought that I might lose to them, because of their stats. I won that with another very concentrated game by me with 4:1, two goals in the last 5 Minutes of the game.

In the final vs Roma I experienced my first ever PES2016-TopPlayer-Game. It was very hard to even get close to the goal and to defend the rushes by Gervinho and Salah. Nevertheless, I managed to get pretty lucky two goals up in 2nd half before exactly the same happened as in my annoying first Celta Vigo-game:

I tried to safeplay the ball between my players and as the clock had played down the overtime I played it up front to my attackers which was fouled (not given) and the referee not whistling though the game should have ended, Salah equalized in the 96th minute (4 additional minutes were announced) and in the end they won by another lousy freekick in the 117th.

Man, was I annoyed when going to bed.

btw Otherwise I enjoy the game but obviously the scripting is especially hard on Professional and TopPlayer-Level.

after pe13 this franchise lost a lot of real pes fans this new engine is pap the delay in the buttons, keepers, lag ,script, forcing dpad users to switch to stick, the goal kicks take a friken age throw ins to plus it takes a good 5 mins to get online with all menu's loading this on top of the game copying fifa now its lost its appeal

do we really want to press 5 buttons/stick combo to go forward then left then another 5 buttons/stick combo to shoot FFS
pes16 graphics & animations layout etc with pes13 game play & button configuration they add lots of BS and take away what people loved about pes a real simulation LMAO now its a real close version of fifa congratulations adumb batty you wrecked PES FRANCISE in 3 years trying to get the fifa gamers to cross over eventually succeeding by changing PES into fifa instead of keeping pes gamers happy you pissed all over us

i hate the game since the first DLC with minor gameplay changes dropped. the game is NOW broken. The fluidity in actions is gone, you feel a slight button delay till something happening (yes, even offline) and my best friend who used to win one in every 20 games against me is winning every 3rd game since the patch. yesterday i played online against a friend and won the first 5 games (7:2, 5:1, 5:2, 3:0, 6:2) and then lost 2-8 !?! with me (psg) having 11 shots, he had 9 shots (bayern) possession was 63% me and 37% him, pass statistic 74% - 53%. it was a mess, every sloppy triangle pass from him resulting in one on one with robben vs. my gk. at the end my gk had 1 safe in 90 minutes while Neuer had 8 safes. sometimes you dominate a game the first 45 minutes with major chances but don't score and in the halftime you are back 0-3 with 3 silly goals from the oppunent without creating one really good chance. the game was on point after release but now it's broken.

I'll never buy another football game again, the scripting is too much now, when you can call what time the goals will be scored at, mainly 46 mins and 92 every other game, and when you can see the heavily scripted scenarios it's nothing nore than a waste of time and money.
