Woohoo!!! :)

That was my major gripe with PES 2008 and 2009. It was like pinball at times and looked like you were watching football in fast forward! A slower pace should make for more measured play. And it should mean you can't run through defences with player like Nani & Ronaldo.

the game will be a lot deeper this year gamers will have to be patient this game wont be a pick up and play game

^Not nani but ronaldo and messi. Anyway, they do it in real life but in pes 2009/8 it was too easy to do it.

I certainly hope you're right, but that craptastic pes2010 demo scared me.
I know rumors are saying it's pretty fuckin' far away from the real deal but I can't figure out any reason they would release something that isn't anywhere near the actual product as a demo.

So in light of not actually knowing what to believe at the moment, I will keep a small hope of a good game, reasonable expectations in other words.

My brother in law bought FIFA10 and I have played quite a few hours with him lately and I am fairly confident that whatever KONAMI comes up with this year it will be better than FIFA.
I honestly think that FIFA even looks ugly this year, so if everything fails with PES2010 I would have to play PES5 or 2009 another year... not a big problem in the end.

but nani and ronaldo do run through peoples defences?!

Yeah they do it maybe twice a match and for 20 or 30 yards. In PES 2008 you could pick the ball up with Nani in your own penalty area and run the full length of the pitch without being caught! Not very realistic.

watch ronaldo in la liga and tell me he doesnt run the ball and often run past a couple of people in doing so?

pick the ball up with Nani in your own penalty area and run the full length of the pitch without being caught!

if you wanted to stop Usain Bolt, you couldnt challenge him to a race... youd just run INTO him head first...coming from the opposite direction...

so why are you trying to catch Nani up? and who with? surely you'd bring forward a defender and go H2H with him instead of getting into a 100 yard dash and being left in his wake?

Hey? I think you're confused Ballist1x?

I was controlling Nani! I had him in my ML team in 2008 and by the age of 24 he was unstoppable. I was able to run the full length of the pitch WITH Nani and not one opposition player would get near me. It was VERY unrealistic. You could beat a team with one man.

I'm hoping PES 2010 is a lot more team and tactics based.

nope you said no-one could catch him... my point is you have probably 5 players that he must run into, they dont need to catch him, they are ALREADY in front of him...they just need to tackle him and not get caught out.

but regardless slowing the speed of the entire game down would have the same proportionate effect on all players... fast AND slow? unless what seabass actually means is that they are closing the gap between 0 pace and 100 pace so that fast players are no longer fast, and slow players are no longer slow, there are just a lot more players with similar speed?

Hope this is true, but I did like the fast paced games though! What I wouldn't mind is if the game is fast paced but the defences are solid! So no 10-0's!

Mr pedantic or what! Ok, ok so no-one could 'tackle' or catch me when I was Nani. Either way, my point is that PES 2008 was too easy with quick and skillful players and hopefully PES 2010 will need more than just speed to break the opposition down.

Which is why I think slowing the gamespeed down could be a good thing. I also think only letting players sprint at full pace for a certain amount of time would also be a great idea and reduce the 'running through a team with one man' problem.

@ Ballist1x

No because it was fast, by the time your reacted he was past you, now you have time to actually close him down rather than hes in front of you and gone in a flash.

i just slide in front of them, force them to reroute and then clobber them with another defender, the speed of the game makes no difference...its the relative speed of fast vs slow players that makes a larger difference to your ability to 'skin' a team with 1 man...

But it wasn't so much the speed and quality of the opposition that I had a problem with in the past (In fact I wish the AI opposition were harder to play against).

It was the ease in which I could run past a defender with a fast player. PES 2009 made this slightly harder and I'm hoping PES 2010 completely fixes it.

Have to agree with Blade1889 I like to play a passing game and I am pretty good at it, trying to play the game as it should be. But when I was behind I'd resort to boring, unrealistic way of playing, which was to give it to my quickest player and bursting past defenders with the help of those ridiculously angular turns, stopping the ball and accelrating immediately in to top speed again.

When you come up against a player who is good at dribbling, that is all they'd do, DRIBBLE and make the game less varied, that is not how the game is played.

Played the demo against a mate and he is a brilliant dribbler, but he was restricted to the odd run here and there were he twisted by my players, a much more realistc, refreshing and satisfying change. Makes the game much better,

i dont mind players like ronaldo running past u with ease once in a while when your players a getting tired but hopefully its not everyone like indivuals last year sometimes and all the time in pes 2008 u could get any player and jsut run this year i dont think u can do that which is good

Agree with Blade1889 here.

The game was too fast and unrealistic. I hope it is slowed down. Ronaldo and Messi are good - but not as good as PES 08/09 made them look. No way.

Slow it down and make it a more tactical awareness game - that'll sort the men from the boys.
