Shops selling it early

Inevitably some shop is going to get caught out selling it early and other shops will be able to follow suit (happens every year).

Would some kind soul please let us know when this happens..or when one of the bigger stores finally gives in.. because then all it takes is a phone call from our local outlet and voila..we're in business!

I second this.. I rung my local Zavvi and they said they're waiting for someone else to sell it.. same with Gamestation.. I'm itching!!

I once made an error guys I went down on a Thursday to gamestation an it wasnt being sold I think this was for PES 5

I'd wait till tomorrow morning.

I won't go anywhere without confirmation of course.. the guy I spoke to seemed to indicate they're generally just waiting to see who "makes the first move", they're prepared to sell it, just, nobody wants to be the first!!

Likewise..i've bought pes the day before it's supposed to retail for at least the last 3 years.
Usually you see all the stores frantically making makeshift PES advertising boards at about 3 o'clock desperate to get you in their shop!
Guess it's wait and see till then..

Yeap every year i can recall getting it at least the day before the release date. I live in Dublin so anyone who stumbles accross a copy post it up please!

I spoke to someone who said that they're waiting for Game.. they're expecting Game to release early, so they all can.

I went into Game today, and they fucking had the boxes out in the New Releases section, so when I took it to the desk they said it wasn't out yet, I wasn't too happy.

Yeah was handed the PC game on Tuesday at Gamestation but they wouldn't sell it till Friday. There was a stack of PC/PS3 and X360 versions behind the counter. Felt like slapping down a £20 running off with it!

Same here - I have mine pre-orderer - got my receipt safely in my wallet so I don't forget it.
I was planning to skip my lecture to get PES early, but after playing PES2009 in HMV, I think I would rather go to maths.

Standard proceedure in game stores for all large releases. Usually hinted at by a sticker on the box saying "pre-order now".

Unless someone else breaches the release date then this is highly unlikely. The first store to sell before official release date tends to be penalised for future major game releases.

seems strange that they arent allowed to sell it if some people have ordered it online and received it already- surely when online retailers are allowed to post the game out, stores should be allowed to sell it.

Agreed, it is a bit off, but it's the same with most things. Look at magazine subs, you tend to get them before they hit the shelves irrespective of when the stores receive them.

i don't know for sure, but I think it has something to do with postage/delivery times. Companies I guess are allowed a certain time prior to release day in order to ensure delivery of the title on it's official release day. If the company uses a courier rather than standard post then it is inevitable that it'll arrive earlier. This is just my thoughts, but I cannot see any other reasonable explanation.

I brought that up to one of the people I talked to.. they're allowed to do it to allow for delay in post, because many companies say "order now to get it on your delivery day".. it was described to me as a "legal loophole"!

ah, that makes sense i suppose. Typically i never order PES online as i'd hate to find that it arrives late. Hopefully i can find some dodgy small shop selling it somewhere. I just cant be arsed to wait until tomorrow as i have meetings all day and, although my girlfriend has been told to go out and get my copy for me, it is unlikely that i will get to play it until nearly 8 o'clock, then i'm up early the next day for fulham away :realmad: :crymore:
