I am going for it because i dont want royal mail messing up PES 2010 for me, still the game would only cost around £32 not bad and you know you will get the game next day from when they text you.

I am hoping they send them out by 20th and i get the game on 21st 2 days before like last year. ;)

Anyone know if with the extra £2 it needs to be signed for? Haven't ordered with shopto before and so need to get it sent home and not to work, and there won't be anyone in...

I know it sounds stupid but I have this thing where I refuse to pay over £30 for a game. The extra £1.99 would take PES 2010 to £31.84 and thus break my policy :(

I think I'll go for it though, I just want to wait for confirmation that the Royal Mail Strikes are def going ahead before going for the next day delivery.

By the way - "royal fail strikes again?" What a headline Ballist1x!! You should work for a newspaper ;)

Wait...

For those who pay the extra £1.99, do they get the game delivered by a different company then?

I fail to see the point in paying extra if that isn't the case. Shopto already promise next day/release day delivery if you order before a certain time, so if the Royal Mail end up bringing the game to you after paying this extra amount, it just seems like a money making scheme to me.

hm well this is the problem... RM ARE the delivery men, regardless of UK Mail... it wont be shipped as a parcel - just as normal mail and is therefore subject to just go in with the rest of the stuff that gets failed to delivered:/ - i.e you dont get UK Mail men hand delivering to your door.. its postmen of royal mail who do it:/

im thinking cancel the pre order, get it in store. pay a sky diver more.

hehe Blade1889 - can you tell i work in marketing?

If it's still going by royal mail, I'm guessing they will be sending it Special Delivery. Even when strikes are ongoing, special delivery mail will be sent out and delivered the next day, usually by the managers of the sorting offices. If they aren't sending it special delivery then I don't have a clue what they're charging the extra £1.99 for, unless it's, as said before, being sent by courier.

Would there be any benefit for people based in countries outside of the UK to pay the extra GBP 1.99?

meh im glad you said tabloid.

anyways if the strikes do happen, which isnt confirmed yet, it will be after the release of PES, and since its different departments going on strike at different times it prolly wont delay any other orders a great deal after that

not to mention if it isnt delivered on release day shopto promise to refund £3. but i bet they scrap that for the time being

What the fuck are Royal Mail on strike for?!

I remember being on like £7.77 (or thereabouts) when I worked for 'em, with over-time/time and a half being sweet. I make £5.80 at my current job, with no such thing as over-time/time and a half, with worse hours. If they're striking we should be getting a riot underway.

I'm just gonna check around the likes of Tesco, Asda, Game, and HMV, to see if there are any good deals going. If not. I'll probably wait a while.

i dont know about the prices of other retailers but last year i bought my PES2009 from HMV high street store for only £29.99, and i think i bought it someday around the releasing day. So if they are doing the same price for PES2010, i am DEFINITELY getting it from high street store. worrying about "when will the postman deliver my PES2010" is such a hassle for me, personally.

they're always on strike lol... i never get any mail before 2pm lol... never they're a bunch of ........ds.... lol

That doesn't surprise me, much. The only reason I am no longer with Royal Mail is because I wasn't female, nor foreign. They were the only people who were offered contract extensions, either from damn luck in random choice or to balance the qouta for equal opportunities in regard to women and foreigners. While the local lads (I live 15 minutes away) who could actually sort the mail quickly, and correctly, as we know our way around the country (born and breed here) were let go.

So picture it like this: with people who are still learning English, sending mail that should be going to Ballyclare, Northern Ireland, to Glasgow, and vice versa, while the women stand around and have a wee gossip, half paying attention to their sorting. Is it any wonder my mail is either late or simply never arrives.

I don't mean to cause any offense to anyone, especially not a group as a whole, but, my examples are exactly that from many of those who I saw offered contract extensions. Whatever happened to simply giving the job to the person who is best at it, rather than giving it to a foreign person who is not even half as efficient, just because numbers need to be balanced! Fuck me. I should move to Italy or something and see if I can jump ahead of all the more efficient workers due to my nationality.

i work there part time when i am not at uni and im on £8.69 per hour but pay is not the issue. i aint in the union but i believe they are striking because they feel the company is been sneaky in the way its laying people off without letting it be known. i think the biggest thing is that they are bringing in sorting machines to sort the mail, that will prolly cost thousands of jobs but i dont think royal mail have aknowledged that. i mean you look at it at royal mails point of view and why shouldnt they introduce sorting machines, it would be quicker, more efficient and cost less, but then again its peoples well being so there bound to do what ever they can to hold onto it.

Also i think its mainly London, they have been having strikes all year for changes that have already happened everywhere else. and 2pm post is common in alot of places, theres no consistency, the few times i go in to work i can be driving there at 8am and see posties from different offices out on delivery yet other offices dont get let out until 10am earliest. i can understand both the companies and employees perspectives, its like the bin men striking in leeds at the minute because they want to cut their wage from £18,000 to £13,000, i mean in truth the councli is right because £18,000 is surely too much for what they do but its something they have become accustomed to and now expect. anyways im just glad im only part time there because i wouldnt fancy been stuck in the middle of rolling strikes, what you get from the union isnt enough to support a family so that kind of demonstrates the seriousness of it.

oh and i think the other reason is unreal expectations. most walks have been increased and others have been lapsed meaning there isnt a postman (person) on the walk but everybody takes a bit out, meaning they have to travel to 2 different locations, its fine on quiet days but busy days its just not possible. also i dont think they pay overtime to the regulars anymore so taking part of another walk out, travelling to their extended walk and getting finished on time is often impossible on a heavy day. its fine on a light day but the company doesnt seem to have considered heavy days. i think they did something about it on the bbc webpage and they estimated the average walk speed a postie would have to walk to be finished within the times RM wants and it was just stupidly unreal.

Aye. I remember hearing something about sorting machines being brought in when I was on the way out. That sucks. People are gonna be getting put outta work for some damn bucket of bolts to take over. It may make financial sense for the company but, it is the height of stupidity when thinking about workers and their lives.

I remember nonsense such as staff having to work outside in a marquee tent in the dead of the freezing cold night because the new equipment was unable to be brought inside the warehouse for one reason or another (I assume it was a size issue).

I feel like a bit of a prick for cracking up now. But damn, I need my mail, especially at present (and it's nothing as trivial as computer games). But if it's to stop things like the above mentioned idiocy happening to the work force, it's easy to sympathize with and understand.
