Similarities between demo and full version- a question from an old PES fan

Hi all,

I asked this question on another forum but there's been no replies yet, so thought I should ask here: used to be an active member of the PES community a few years ago with option files and what not, and often used this forum, but my interest waned with the decline of the PES games; I had PES 2008, tried 2009 and since then I haven't touched the games with a barge pole, save for the odd quick game here and there round mates houses.

I played FIFA 10 and 11 and found them to be very boring games; FIFA seems to be winning people over on marketing, hype and the simple fact that in recent years it has been better than PES (which isn't really saying much).

However, the other night I had a go on PES 2012 and really enjoyed it, but because I played it with four other mates I felt that I needed to experience it single-player to get a better feel. I downloaded the demo (second version, I believe) and with a couple of tweaks (game speed to +1, controls reduced semi-auto options) I thought it was excellent. The passing is so much better than in the FIFA demo, and the game seems to have struck a blend between realism and fun that made the PS2 PES games so good.

So, before I take the plunge, I wanted to ask: is the full version of the game the same as the demo (gameplay-wise)?

Also, I hear there's been a patch recently - what has this amended/changed about the game?

If you enjoyed the demo then you should enjoy the full game more...obviously because you have more of everything. The patch was supposed to improve the keepers...don't know if it worked though.

Does it still have any of the 'invincibles' - the likes of Messi and Ronaldo who, when player controlled, could just waltz through defences and were impossible to tackle? They really ruined PES 2008 and I'm hoping that they are gone from 2012!

Yep they're still there. And what makes it worse is the defending in this game...it has a very steep learning curve. But that's pes...i still find it very enjoyable though.

They're still there but if you learn how to defend you could contain them for the most part. Trap them, double team them, dont give them space and dont let them go ahead of you. What I do is I man mark them with multple defenders and that helps alot, they usually won't get the pass coming to them because they're crowded. Also, play with wide CBs and deep, this prevents them from getting behind you and attacking you on the flanks... There are different ways and methods, its up to you to figure it out.

The game is good, challanging and fun, if you liked the demo you will like the final product obviously.

That's good to hear. I've read some complaints that the final version was tweaked after the demo and therefore didn't play as well.

As for the 'invincibles' I'm glad that there's now a way to combat them. I remember that with 2008 and 2009 there was absolutely nothing you could do about them, they were almost impossible to tackle. Completely ruined the game for me and made online play unbearable.

At first glance it would seem the same but after a while you will notice vast improvements from both demo. The default speed of the game is a bit slower than the second demo. the GK is miles better. The control feels tighter but the most amazing thing that i noticed is that if you use barca and play their style, your ai teamates actually behave like the real deal, players are never static, they move to open spaces on their own(w/o using the new off the ball feature). The individuality of the players are amazing, you can truly tell the good from the great players. Even the teams at a certain extent, i've noticed when playing against chelsea that they are using long balls a lot. its really a joy passing the ball around as barca but if you use juve for example their passing ability as a team is much slower. you really have to practice shooting and defending as a unit. The cpu ai is ruthless in counters. Its basically better than the demo, the little tweaks they did really changed the whole game for the better.

Basically the best pes for me since the ps2 days. Hope this helps you man. I have the pc version
