I always purchase both games, then trade in the worse one.

Pes 11 is how it always should have been, stabilisers turned off! no more onrails, no lag, great co-op play, online master league, manual weighted balls - PERFECT!

Fifa, although it is great, every goal you score is in the box, tap (tiny tap) shot, it rolls under the keeper EVERYTIME! thats not good! - reminicing last years dodgey chip exploit!.

PES once you load in the updates, is a more complete, fully licenced experience, better graphics, hardcore play

THANK YOU KONAMI for listening :D :) :)

PES KING is BACK!!! love it!

I have bought PES every year and started buying FIFA from 08.

This year for me is the closest they have been to each other. Both games have bugs and both games have great areas.

Deep down though I always hope that PES is the best, and for the first time on next gen....its getting there. Hopefully PES2012 will be the one where it regains the crown. Anyway having 2 great games is also a good thing.

FIFA this, PES that...

Just play whatever you want mate. I don't care, most people don't care. I bet your mum doesn't even care.

Video games are meant to be played for fun and if you ain't getting any fun out of PES, then you SHOULD play FIFA.

I always get both games. And I already got fifa 11 this year.
Last year and the year before that, I made a switch to fifa.
But this year I am not sure yet.
I am 100% positive that fifa will be more complete BUT:
I already had enough of HORRIBLE AI and cheating on fifa 11. This is the 1st time a game did this to me AFTER A WEEK.
I mean overall, it's a great game, BUT I CANNOT PLAY IT ANYMORE. IT'S JUST WAY TOO MUCH. If the AI was challenging by outsmarting you then I would accept it, but not in fifa 11 where if they want to score, they become indestructible and will have superman strength, then they will cross, and head the ball in my net and I cannot do a thing.
If I time my jump then the AI will still get the ball
If I try to tackle, they avoid it like messi
If I try a standing tackle, I get the ball, but they get it back or get a foul even if I got the ball first
If I try to pressure them, I get 2 players trying to shove him off the ball, but he still passes with superman strength
If I try to wait on him to make a clean tackle, he shoots and scores aswell.
I got tired of this after a week. It's making me angry all the time because things like that are unacceptable.
They did happen in fifa 10, but not nearly as much.

I'll see about pes when I get the chance to play it. Right now, I don't own the game. But I am sure I'll find negatives aswell.

Dude, you are one of the few regulars who makes sense on a consistent basis,

Stop saying that FIFA11 is a great video game when you know it is bullshit; FIFA11 is shit, a very polished and finished product, but a very outdated concept at its core.

Eventually, the game will not last one month; the same old concept can only last so much.

By the way, I'm not saying that PES11 is better, I'm just saying that if you CANNOT PLAY IT... then do not buy it, the fact that you actually need to try and like the game, and it still doesn't works for you... says a lot.

For my part, I can still play PES10 and enjoy it... but I cannot tolerate FIFA10 for more than two hours of play. I think there is a lot of truth to the rumor that FIFA uses a smaller pitch than PES...

When you make the pitch smaller, you take the artistic feeling out of football, it's similar to indoor football: the space is smaller, therefore, everything is more repetitive and predictable.

I have not payed attention to the SIZE of the pitch, when comparing PES10 with FIFA10, or PES11 with FIFA11; but the FACTS do add up, because FIFA has less DEPTH, it is more repetitive and more predictable... A good reason for this, could be the size of the pitch, it's easier to create one-on-one opportunities when the pitch is smaller; everything is more repetitive and predictable when the pitch is smaller...

Although it is not the bottom line for me, I do think the SIZE of the pitch is a very important factor; and in my case, COULD be the key reason for why I cannot bother myself with FIFA games.

Bottom line: it lacks proper NON-RUNNING dribbling and man-marking animations... this is why the defensive system is broken.

Because if you can cover spaces of over 100 feet of distance by simply directing the left analogue stick WITHOUT the assistance of a SPRINT button; this means that the left analogue stick AUTOMATICALLY produces or triggers RUNNING ANIMATIONS on its own (without assistance)...

And the fact that you RUN without the assistance of a SPRINT button button... is a very serious problem...

As a result, you can only run past a defender or a defender can crash into you; but you cannot actually do any dribbling nor any man-marking. This is why the defensive system is broken, because there are no dribbling animations, it skips the dribbling and man-marking and goes straight into running.

It is a shit system, if you overcook it or eat it bland, it will still taste like an overcooked or undercooked piece of shit.

The UPDATES are not enough anymore, they should really REPLACE the D-PAD CONCEPT that is currently restricting all the areas of the genre.

What's The Problem With PES2011 This iS the Best Title Konami Has Released So Far

I have bought both games, so both companies have my money, but after being a devoute PES fan all my life i think i've finally made the switch over to FIFA.

PES is hugely disappointing this year for me. A step backward from last years game which, despite what some people said, was still enjoyable for me. I just really can't enjoy this years gameplay at all. You can't run more than 5 yards with any player without being outmuscled. The passing system is still flawed for me and the first thing that occured to me when i started playing it was "have Konami accidentally released an old build of the game?".

FIFA 11 on the other hand, is well polished and thoroughly enjoyable. Each to their own of course, im sure many people will feel completely the opposite. I may play PES every now and then to reminisce but i think i've rapidly turned into a FIFA fanboy in a matter of weeks.
The Problem is that u have to relearn to play the game again pes 2011 is totally different from the last pes tittles u have played Seabass has truly and closely represented the simululation of real football into the virtual world and trust me give this game some more time make a conscencious effort and only then will u apppreciate the beauty of this footie simulation. The passing system is not flawed it's engineered for freedom so don't blame the ai for your missed passes blame youself GIVE IT SOME TIME PES2011 GRows ONTO YOU

Both games are good.

people saying the a.i is easy and predictable in fifa and you score the same goals well im sorry you aint played fifa 11 because that doesnt happen to me. Full manual, professional/wc with custom tactics to teams tweaked and fifa is a beast and one of the top footy games around.

Seriously take time out to edit teams tactics you'll see a difference.

Pes itself is a brillaint game fighting to get out of a straightjacket. Theres brilliant moments to be had, let down by some stiff movement and a few glitches here and there but its deffo, compared to last year now on the right track and an excellent base for the future.

Some people im afraid are too stuck in their ways and rather than look objectively on a game come out with the same old ten years of age cliched crap.

both games are good, both have flaws with i think fifa edging it on polish. but for once two games playing a different view of football.

^That's actually a pretty good post. That sums up my feeling for both games.
Anyway, mind you fifa 11 is not glitch free though. The glitches are not as visible as pes ones. They're more hidden. But that doesn't mean it's glitch free. The AI in fifa is actually filled with glitches and stupid stuff.
But in the end, it's a good game nonetheless.
Both are good in different areas.

In fact mate the more i play Pes the more brilliant its becoming. Just played a 0-0 with Dynamo and Besiktas and i'll tell you what, Pes realism is very much to the fore.

I love Fifa also of course and its nice to have two games that i can switch between if i get bored of one or the other.

If you could combine the tactics and depth of Pes, the graphics and look of pes with the licenses, animation smoothness and some of the motion capture and options of Fifa integrated into pes animations i think youd have the best football game in the universe*
