Special Abilities?

Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone's worked out what attributes are needed to unlock special abilities yet? I've got Covering and Slide Tackle on my CM, the former presumably based on my 80+ defence and 90+ speed/stamina stats. Not so sure about Slide Tackle, since I got that one more recently.

I knew all the requirements for last years' special abilities (middle shooting, one-touch pass etc.) but since they've changed the whole 'player index/cards' things so much this year I'm sure they've changed the requirements. It may be that some are based on the way you play as well as your attributes.

I'll keep an eye out for changes in my player and keep you guys posted when I gain any cards, but if anyone has worked out any yet, please let me know. I'm trying for 'long-ranger' atm, assuming it's going to be similar to last year's shot accuracy 80+ shot power 80+ combo.

So I got 'passer'... both pass accuracies at 85 I guess. Got shot power up to 80 and still no 'long-ranger'. Has anyone got a * card yet? The red one?

They control AI behaviour, so they wouldn't be much use. The * cards were poorly implemented anyway, since only the most well-known players have them, so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't bother (or forgot) to add them to BAL.

Guess it's just random like in pes09..

In pes 09 it was a combination of abilities together that gets you a card.special ability (for some stats). I do not know about this year.

I am nearly half way through my 5th season i am a CF and have the following abilities. Reaction, 1-on-1 finish, PK Taker, Quick Turn & Marseille Roulette.

I got the PK taker one even before i had ever taken a penalty. I have had 2 pens since then and both were never a pen, but evens out as i should have had many more and never got them

^I got reaction in the european cup tournament in the 3rd season.

^Remember that some special abilities were tied to a specific position in pes 09. I played as a CF in the european cup with the national team so I got reaction. It's a combination of abilities. Maybe you don't have 1 ability hight enough to activate a card.

to get reaction i have read you need to have 75 response

to get 1 vs 1 finishing you need to have 85 shot accuracy and 85 shot technique

passer you need 85 short pass accuracy and 85 short pass speed

outside curve need swerve at 85

75 dirbble accuracy, dribble speed and technique gets you quick turn

80 dirbble accuracy, dribble speed and technique gets you Marseille roulette

^I think some depend on a specific position though.
But thanks. Anyway are those for pes 09? I think you get them the same way in pes 10.

I'm in m 5th season with Balanced, Marsellie Roulette, Man Marking, Quick turn, 1 on 1 finishing and two more which I forgot... I'm a CF Btw... Idk how you get them, but I guess it can't be much longer till I get long ranger, the amount of goals I score from distance...

Nah you never get more focus points, you just have to distribute the 12 you have. If you consider the attribute requirements for each special ability, you can tailor your focus point (still want to call this strengthen - changed from one stupid name to another) so you get the abilities you want, but i very much doubt that you will ever be able to choose which dribbles you get.

Basically, if you want the dribbling ones, put plenty of points in dribble technique, and i think speed will affect this too.

To everyone who was asking whether you gain abilities randomly, it's based on attributes alone. There was talk last year about the way you play getting you abilities, but I think this was and still is wishful thinking. There are too many basic flaws in BAL (and in fact the rest of Pro as well) to suggest anything of that complexity works properly. And yes, special abilities are position specific. I know, for example, that only strikers can get reaction, only midfielders can get passing, covering etc. Most of them are pretty much common sense, but I think I know most of them from last year if anyone wants to ask about specific ones

I wouldn't get your hopes up. If it's true that we can't get red (*) cards, then long-ranger is hopeless as it's one of the stars abilities. If the previous poster was right in saying that red cards only affect AI control of the player, though, then it doesn't really matter since we wouldn't have gained anything anyway.

Bring back last year's 'long-ranger' :angry:
