Streets of Rage Remake

Thought I'd post this as I remember some of you stating your fondness for the Streets of Rage games, as did I. Basically it's a great homage to a great series with loads of new content.

I've just had a quick go on it and it recreates the megadrive originals almost perfectly. It's still very old-school so don't expect fancy visuals and you may have to play it in a small window if fullscreen just doesn't cut it for you anymore. But it does stays so true to the originals that you could call it the 4th in the series.

There are some decent new features added such as multiple paths, driving sections, new modes and it's good to see Adam back in there.

So if you were a SOR fan then I seriously recommend you check this out.

Yeah I was hoping that assumption wouldn't happen but it's inevitable I guess. But anyway I'm kind of glad Sega haven't attempted to next-gen it... yet. Just look at what Capcom did to Final Fight in the game 'Final Fight: Streetwise', one of the worse games I've ever played.

The remake is one for the nostalgics if anything. It's basically a emulation of all 3 games with some fresh stuff added in, but I'm glad they've done it.

True it is a console type game through and through. However as long as you've got a control pad then it doesn't really matter (to me anyway). Besides I think if Sega were going to remake it themselves they probably would have done a long time from now.

Well any game that has a fan made remake in honour of the originals speaks volumes as to how much they are regarded. However Sega tried redoing Altered Beast and another I can't think of right at this minute and they quite frankly, were absolute shite.

EDIT: If you use that file, have a go at Survival mode. I can't get past stage 4, it's well harsh. I thought I was good but it appears that I'm quite frankly, absolute shite.
