Nice one Ratmundo. I very much look forward to using the 80s kits and national teams in the future if you release them
I worked as Producer, Analyst and Community manager for years, for big companies like Capcom, SEGA, Square, Google and a few independents/mobile. Every time we rolled out a product the feedback would ALWAYS be a couple of positive words ("love the game!" or whatever) followed by suggestions for improvement or to report bugs or things not working right.
You could say this is criticism, or even whining, but in reality it's happy FANS and CONSUMERS trying to help you make the product as good as possible. Sometimes these people are too negative, sometimes they are outright wrong, but we never responded aggressively or tried to ridicule their mistakes.
Now, I know this isn't professional, it is an unpaid labour of love, but maybe the best perspective is to look at it like that- other than the guys who made this patch we are all FANS who have enjoyed the product and thought that, like nearly everyone else who makes this kind of thing, you guys would welcome feedback.
If 99.999% of the patch is perfect and somebody spots ONE single mistake, or something they thing is a mistake, and they post it here, it's because they hope that the makers of the patch will correct it for future releases, improving the experience for future players. It's not a huge contribution, but it's something.
Right now imo the patch is almost perfect- there are a few things that I would change but I'm not even remotely comfortable to post anything here as it seems the only response would be a load of aggressive insults and being told to change it on my own file- which would improve my experience but not necessarily everyone else's, which I think is more important
Yes, you can always say "DO IT IN YOUR OWN FUCKING OPTION FILE" and treat them like they are attacking the hard work of this team but really, it's just the standard collaboration any developer should be used to.
If one of my games has an error and someone tells me, I thank them and note it down. If their comment is wrong I explain why, but I don't treat them like they are insulting me or my work. If there is an error, it's better that it is corrected in the file that is available for download, not to tell every single person who has the product to correct it themselves in their own file.
That's just my perspective anyway. I have enjoyed playing this file and thank you for the work it must have taken, and I look forward to the next round of teams.
I agree with some of what you said. You have to remember...that some of your insight here is not applicable.
I believe you are only partially correct, when you talk about the feedback people give. And also partially flat out wrong. You fail to take into consideration a few things in my opinion, with all due respect:
1. Though many users may be here to help the overall development of the game/OF/product. That not all users/feedback, are/is benevolent in nature. Think about the amount of different personalities and agendas made up of infinite dispositions...especially on this platform...a forum on THE INTERNET. This is absolutely not a professional system with set protocols, which support the overall business/sales/marketing strategy or goals. In a perfect world, it might be as you say, but in reality it's not and you cannot lump all possible interactions into one type of methodology.
2. In your own words this is a labor of love. And what you also fail to take into account, with all your experience, is that the end goal, of all these major publishers/companies/corporations is generating a loyal fanbase/profits. Which would explain why, there is that "customer is always right" mentality.
Now in this threads editors defense imagine, you're setting up a non profit, pro bono type of project. Let's say, out of charity you had some time, so you wanted to offer a free food gathering and a party...for a certain group of people with a particular interest.
And in turn, you had some cool people, but you also had others who came in, ate your food, and preceded to tell you, how your food and your party were not up to their standards....and that you NEEDED to fix whatever they thought, rather than a constructive, respectful dialog, due to the fact it was free...coming from someone else's resources, for no personal gain, but just out of charity.
I think we could all agree, that telling that person, that if they don't like it they could leave, and perhaps if they wanted something different, to do it themselves...would be an acceptable response...
I also, have extensive experience in marketing, promotions, event planning, project management and quality assurance...which is why it is confusing to me, as to why or how you could not tell the difference...between sales strategies, and a free personal project, shared with members of a community.
I am also not saying that any particular reaction is the correct one, as there probably is not a correct one for the infinite amount of potential interactions.
I'm just responding to your post, and discussing, why, again, I feel some of your ideas/comparisons are not applicable.
Please know, that due to the fact, tone cannot be communicated through text. I meant this with all due respect. Cheers.
p.s. Also Ratmundo is one of the coolest guys I know online. :ninja:
Done so far:
Ajax for we united
Bayern for Kalaquisong city
ac milan for haiphong athletic
real madrid for bharshapur
arsenal for qaxoqavoiy
barca for sayramska
Boca for zangrhan
inter for altiplano bunan
since I had to fill up the fake teams with random weak free agents, there might be a problem if somone helps me and would catch the same free agent for future teams as well no?
How you getting on mate? I've only done 4 teams so far, been working loads so haven't had much time yet
I have done 18 of them, whats the best way to upload them for everybody?
I send them per email to one user who told me it did not import the shirt automatically. I added the 1024 kits, but in my file I did use the 2048 ones, they have different file names, thats the problem?
Best way would be to upload it to mediafire if you have an account or send it to one of the file creators who could upload it for you with the 1024 kits if possible.
What teams do you have left to create?
When did this forum became an episode of Jerry Springer with everyone feeling insulted. It's time everybody grew up here and started discussing the file in a correct and respectful manner.
I myself have found the file enjoyable and I love the work and effort that has gone into it though it ain't perfect (there are a few mistakes ie certain players left out of squads for other players who aren't as good or incorrect rankings of certain players) and look forward to more classic teams and players to play with.
There have been good and bad points made here but it's time everyone started talking again and looking to make this the best file out there instead of arguing all the time.
So can we please get back to discussing the file please
Best way would be to upload it to mediafire if you have an account or send it to one of the file creators who could upload it for you with the 1024 kits if possible.
What teams do you have left to create?
Sao Paulo and River Plate, I wont do them, because I want to have two teams left for hopefully upcoming other teams.
you can also send me a pm, so I send them to you via email. the same counts for the creator, in case you are interested in offer those teams for the fake asian league?
No date as of yet when we'll release the second batch. May do it different then the first time though.
I've also put previews of Porto and PSV on my channel for anyone interested.
